  • nicely done, is this confirmed to work on goty version?

  • I'm doing an ironman run currently, after some deaths in hell's kitchen (every death means starting the entire game anew) I managed to get to the mole settlement now, good fun

  • i will...take your...???

  • So I decided: do a pacifist run. Then get to here, take about 50 tries to get her to finally open the door (it works if the LAM lands in just the right spot) - but then was killed in 2 hits by the door guard. THEN did it again, but stopped playing and forgot to save.... THEN did it first try after. So it's do-able (fully patched GOTY edition)

  • This doesn't seem to work for me. Anna makes an attempt at the door, but can't open it and gets blown up by the LAM I threw to scare her off

  • One person will take your I have him.

  • IK there is a no kills playthrough, but is there a no knockout playthrough? As in you literally don't touch any guard AT ALL? (AKA Ghosting). IK Splinter Cell Chaos Theory could do this, but idk if you can do it in this game.

  • @UnwillingOrigins Bro, there's been a no weapons, no inventory items (if an item or weapon was given by an NPC, it was discarded immediately), no nano-augmentations, no skills upgraded, no money, and no looking up the passcodes on the internet playthrough, basically only relying on stealth, AI abuse, and rediculously creative ways around enemies.

  • Hmm, it is more easy to kill her in that plane when u meet paul and found that he works for the nsf. one rocket from gep gun and you will safe a life too^^ [the leader of the nsf)

  • Does this stop Gunther from vowing revenge?

  • To be honest, the only person that you ever have to actually kill in Deus Ex is Agent Navarre, no one else needs to be killed.

  • @UberCookieboy actually the only person you need to kill is the man at the bottom of the missile silo everyone else can live.

  • I will...

    Take your...

    I have you!

    *whoosh*

  • The greatest thing is, that they actually thought of the possibility of Anna staying alive and added a different line for Gunther to say when you meet him in the cathedral!

  • @Tryptamiini I wonder if it's possible to get past the Gunther fight in the cathedral and not die.

  • @S0ryiu I think it's possible to lure Gunther out of the main hall, and run to the computer after that.

  • @Tryptamiini Please tell me what Gunther say if Anna is still alive, please post a video.

  • @warlockskz Look for a video named: "A Gentlemen's Agreement "

  • easiest way is to beat alex with a baton until he opens the door

  • anna navarre is so easy to kill, just use one shot from gep gun

  • If you off her beforehand on a 1-kill game, do they make you kill someone else?

  • LOl they accommodated for EVERYTHING in this game.

  • what a shame

  • Lol @ messing with IA.

I already done that a crap ton of times for Liberty Island, I would throw a gas grenade at the right of the UNATCO HQ's entrance door. Somehow Paul reacts strangely with gas grenades (he just stares nothing)

  • Does Gunther still say "No, I cannot forgive, not the killing of agent Navarre, I will kill you, Denton!" afterwards?

  • @xjod9 nope

he never mentions that again but you still have to fight him at the templars cathedral

  • You working with agent o-range

  • but doesn't that fuck up the game later?

  • @Zolg08 I ran away from Gunther in the cathedral and he didn't show up afterwards.

  • @Zolg08 nothing fucks up this game. believe me I tried!

  • @DarkKnightBob1o1 But does NPCs act like you kill them? I don'k know cuz i never complete Deus ex (what a shame). And if u think deus ex is too easy try HardCore Dx. It is waaaay harder.

  • not sure about navarre.I did play the game through and try to not kill ANYONE just tase them. Even used this trick here. I think they didn't register but honestly literally everything else I did and I went through it about 5-6 times trying out different routes with different saves was accounted for.

PLaying hardcore is just boring. PLay as it was intended.

  • this could very well be the best game of all time..

  • So whats Gunther raging mad over now?

    That you hurt Anna's feelings?

  • best game ever

  • does she appear later in the game???

  • No. If you haven't killed her on the plane or the subway station, the game assumes you kill her now. If playing a pacifist run, this vid shows how to avoid this only "required" kill.

  • So..its 2010, I love all things cyberpunik related, and have just started playing deus ex. I always meant to play it, and now I am thinking WHY HAVE I NOT PLAYED THIS BEFORE....there is so much great stuff in it...totally hooked

  • Yeah, same for me, I first played it in July 09. I wish I had discovered it earlier. Basically I knew the name, but I always thought it was just some average grey first person shooter (because I had seen a few screenshots, out of context). Man was I wrong. :D

  • Non letal rocks... =)

  • you killed a plant :(

  • Anna Navarre never augmented the "Close Door" skill.

  • I CAN'T GET THIS TO WORK :(

I tried and tried and tried

  • allammo

  • That was easy. But hey where do i type the cheat in??

  • t: then type set DeusEx.JCDentonmale bcheatEnabled true press enter then put in allammo

  • Ok, I have a question. How do you record your Deus Ex game like this? I have no idea how to record it straight from the computer...

  • YOU DESTROYED THE NATURAL ORDER!!!

  • I don't see why people give themselves aneurysms trying not to kill people clearly meant to be killed.

  • I'm not quite sure how blood vessels are relevant, but it's a pretty simple concept as to why challenges like these arise. People get bored of playing a game easily on the highest difficulty, doing the same things, and with the same techniques, and so look for a challenge. In this case it happens to be playing the game without killing people.

  • @BoredGuest ok, so a continuity question arises.. the whole game from then on treats anna as dead? or does she appear later? does gunther says he wants to kill you for killing her?

  • @YaiBugy I think he just says that he wants to kill you so he can become the top agent at UNATCO.

  • @Devast8ion

separates this game from many many others and makes it very special. not to mention EPIC.

  • Urgh. FINALLY! I had to try this around 200 times before it finally worked, sans exaggeration. :( Ultimately, I threw a LAM at her as in this video, and fired the gun at her twice to injure her a bit more.

  • check out

    deusex3 (dot) com

    new deus ex for 2010!!

  • Yeah but what about Alex. :C

  • does the plot change if you don't kil her and escape unatco that way?

  • What patch version are you running in this? I've tried this about 25 times today and 75% of the time she runs towards the door and the explosion scares her. The other 25% she'll die in the blast. Never has she opened the door.

  • Ha forget that. The trick was I threw the LAM, she took damage but didnt attack me (I guess she cant see me behind the rail). Then I shot her 2-3 times with a pistol and she panics and opens the door. I guess depending on what difficulty you are on you need to do extra damage to trigger her panic mode.

  • I believe it works only on base 1.00 version. Further ones patched the ability of NPC to open any door.

At least that's what I noticed.

    Excellent vid though!

  • That's not true at all (the first few sentences anyway lol)

  • I tried to finish Deus Ex without using any items, augmentations or skills. I managed to get past the underground (the location after secret door in toilet in sewers). There was a door there and an NSF soldier. I threw exploding barrels near him, he ran towards locked door but he never opened it.

Yeah, could be just bad luck ;) . It'd make things far easier though :)

  • nice bug)

  • Listen Bored Guest, can you help me out? I knocked out all of the UNATCO troopers so I don't need the crates from downstairs. Anyway, are you playing on realistic in this video? In my game Navarre never opened the door and/or she blew up. Please help! Do you have any tips?

  • I'm not sure what difficulty setting I was playing on but I doubt it makes a difference. Just keep trying, I remember it took a while for me too, and I haven't been able to do it since.

  • Thanks!!! I'm trying to be the game on realistic with no kills and now I'm up to this point, too bad that you will fail a primary goal by not killing Anna.

  • Nice idea... although have to say, throwing a grenade at her kinda defeats the *spirit* of "no-kills" if not the letter....

  • so what happens if you do this route... Im guessing they didnt plan for you to leave anna alive at this point? Do you see her again later or just Gunther

  • It actually was, though they never really ironed it out. The dialogue changes so that no one mentions the death of Navarre (most prominent in Gunther's lines at the Templar's Cathedral). She doesn't show up at any point, kinda just disappears.

  • is gunther acting like you killed anna navare later or does he realise you spared her?

  • Thanks for this technique... I tried it, but ended up doing it accidentally with a gas grenade?? Saved Miguel too, but no skill pts for that =/

  • There are 2 ways to leave Anna and Lebedev alive. First is to block Anna's path with large crate from hangar, second is to fire at Anna till she runs away(dont kill her, leave some hp).

  • No, I prevented Anna from killing him by blocking the door with large crates.

  • So did you just let Lebedev die? That's not very noble of Denton, don't you think?

  • When you say "no kills," do you mean that there are not even knockouts?

  • Yeah, no direct harm to anyone at all. Of course, if an enemy accidentally committed suicide then that's fine.

  • Hi. I finished Deus Ex a couple of times (usually as pistol-specialist, pistol is imo the best :-) and now I try to do it the "no kills" way.. Is it much different (apart from covert strategy)? Is the plot developement going a diferent way since you don't kill the mechs?

And does reprogramming turrets and bots counts as killing?

    thanks for a reply

  • In short no it's not too different, the plot development doesn't vastly change and you can reprogram cameras but you're not allowed to make turrets kill people or destroy/turn off bots, but you can reprogram them to change alliances.

  • ohh you get a few bonuses from not killing people but not much and convosations that you proberbly dident hear ... because they where dead... and its hard talking to dead people... who are dead

  • Those dead people, you speak of,, the dead ones who are dead. The dead only know one thing, it is better to be alive, than dead.

  • This being an FPS I do want to enjoy to the 'S' part of the game as well. If you avoid it you are missing a third of the game, if not more. :)

  • when that happens the solgers can die too right

  • Ahm.. If you dont kill Agent Navarre (I did at Lebedev's airport, thank god) like you did here, what happends later in the game? Doesnt Gunther hunt you, or dont you get that message where Gunther says "Noo i can not forgive.. No. Not for ZE killing of agent Navarre"? Btw: I WANTED ORANGE, IT GAVE ME LEMON LIME ;o

  • haha that orange lemon lime thing i will never forget this :) :)

  • so you think the staff has some kind of plot?

  • Gunther hunts you as always, but you don't get the "killing of Agent Navarre" message.

I stacked at least 50 crates to try and get Anna to chase me through the door so that I could get past her along with Miguel. It worked, though I still think it was a waste of a good hour and a half.

  • i dont understand the big appeal in not killing anybody, i killed that bitch the first chance i got

  • Hell, I killed everyone I could get my hands on. Even the civilians in Hong Kong and Paris. The only ones I didn't kill were the ones affiliated with me (UNATCO at the beginning and NSF, X-51 and Silhouette)

  • Dont spoil the plot ;(

  • No, he comes to Hong Kong regardless.

  • But you left alex there to die

  • I killed like 70% of all baddies in the game.

    It's just easier.

And I killed Anna when I met first with Lebedev. Why should I have let her run? She's a bitch!

  • So much nanocrap has turned JC into an alter ego of Jesus Christ, and now he's saving and forgiving even his worst enemies.

Will judaism accept HIM as the messiah? We'll have to wait for DX4 to find out. Same denton time, same denton channel.

    Okay that's enough now.

  • You'll find it on a computer (beside an elevator) guarded by a WiB and a MJ12 troop.

  • I did that as well. The only difference was that Gunther would not say "Oh no! I will not forgive the death of Ann Navarre" or smth like that. In Paris however he would mention her death nevertheless.

  • Man, I can remember the old times where I used to kill for her in missions, and now I'm actually going rambo on her for being with UNATCO. Good times killing her though. Best PC game I ever played.

  • So then if you don't kill Anna here, and supposedly ANNA MUST DIE, when does she appear again?

  • so many ways makes this game the best.

Now I can see on You tube what I didnt saw in game...

  • There are no significant changes apart from a few slight modifications in dialogue.

  • What happens to the storyline if you keep her alive?

  • Nice ! I tried to keep her alive as long as I could but had to get rid of her at this point, nice trick ^^)

  • This game is a classic: MANY WAYS TO SOLVE A PROBLEM ;D

  • Haha I just did that, AND saved the NSF guy!

  • when was this in the game?

  • When you uncover the conspiracy behind Unatco, you have to kill Anna for Alex to help you escape.

  • flatlander woman

  • Because it's an extreme challenge, of course.

  • Why does everyone insist on being a pacifist in this game??

  • lol, who knows. When it comes to some people in the game I kill them without a tear.

  • When people shifted from kill-every-livingthing-on-the-level games to DeusEx it was quite a novelty to have a pacifist approach recognised and rewarded via plot, dialogue, 'experiance points' ect.

  • Because unlike most other games it's actually an option

  • the easiest way to kill her is the GEP gun "BAM"

  • That's what I did. Blew her to heck. Oddly enough, I seen to remember some greenish fluid on the floor, surrounded by bits of dead flesh. Maybe some sort of biomechanical or nanotech substance?

  • It was probably just a piece of the plant.

  • Haha.

  • it is

  • The gep gun is the most silent way to eliminate Anna.

  • exactly!

  • Wise words :)

  • I've done this, but this way I've missed the Alex conversation about Daedalus, and I keep the primary goals of killing Anna and talking to Alex active at the next level.

  • great video, never knew you could totally avoid killing her

  • do you get to meet her later in the game???

  • no, but Gunther says some different dialogue or something

  • I'm guessing he can't say that this is for Anna - or something along those lines

  • Sorry I've completely forgotten what he says.

  • it's just trial and error basically.

  • How did you get her to open the door like that? Did you make her run into it?

  • Whenever you throw a LAM (or gas grenade) at an NPC, it panics and runs away from it. Also, NPCs are able to unlock any door, when Anna ran away from the LAM she opened the door.

  • They can't open any door - only ones with the property 'bIsDoor' set to true.

  • weird though that the greys can open their cage doors from the inside...

  • I tried many times, but she ran in the wrong direction. On the other hand, I did get NPCs to destroy boxes, chests, cabinet doors, etc. I used the flamethrower to make them run. :p

  • the cool thing is that they talk as if she still were alive. so there may be a way, not a bug

  • No one, talks as if Anna is alive. After leaving UNATCO everyone except Gunther forgets all about Anna, and the only time Gunther doesn't Infolink you about her being dead, is when you are going from level 2 to level 1 of Unatco. Once you reach level one you get his standard "I can not forgive the killing of agent Navarre

  • *it may be a way or not. it can be either removed or damaged*

    *if she wasen't dead*

sry, I was in a hurry, didnt check msg. btw, i never got that message about forgiving the killing about agent Nacarre

  • That is creative genius. Bravo!

  • Clever

  • does he still come after you in the end ?

  • yes, i think there's a video here of the conversation you have with him when you see him in the cathedral

  • great...i wonder you seen her after that again?:ddd

  • no you don't, and gunther doesn't taunt you about killing her

  • bravo!

  • so cool, i want more XD
