A perfect track from a perfect album. The lyrics, the smoothness of Johnny Hartman singin so strong and tender at the same time......and ofcourse the beautiful saxophone playing by Coltrane and backing of the band, the whole atmosphere of this recording, it gets me in it's spell and touches me deeply..........
In any language or venue, this is still one of the greatest colaboration of vocal and saxophone ever recorded. The swaying melody, now swaggar had to be an intro to LOVE. I danced the last dance my Mentor, Lover and Friend the night before he was admitted to a Hospital in Arcadia, CA. Philip Bernard Cosgrove died. Now I still dance to this beautiful song imagining his arms around me. Thank you for the post. What can you say about the entire album NEXT "My One and Only Love"
First time hearing of Johnny Hartman and I think his melodic style is on point. I'm surprise this song only has 10,000 hits it should be over a million but thats to tell you the minds of pop culture today.
I'm not too much of a Hartman fan, I prefer the other crooner greats to him. However, it's impossible for anyone to deny just how fantastic this song is.
Tuxguys. One of the greatest LP's ever made, but cut for cut, "They say that falling in love is wonderful" defines wonderful and changes the course of music forever.
A cut from what is, arguably, one of the ten greatest jazz LP's of all time.
A superb example of one of the most perfect singing voices the human race has ever produced, Johnny Hartman... great evidence that, while they were making their groundbreaking musical explorations, Messrs. Coltrane, Tyner, Garrison and Jones could play mainstream as good as ANYBODY.
(I hear much of the near future Eddie Harris in Trane's solo...)
We are all mere mortals in the presence of gods. Sing to me Johnny Hartman.

It tells you a lot about Tranes connection to the tradition that when he came to select a singer he should choose to work with Johnny...
