  • As someone who wants to marry a chimpanzee, I can relate.

  • I really love this song, and this version of it. Fantastic Emcee!

  • In modern times we couls replace 'Jewish' with 'Gay' to identical meaning

  • @Saiaton Not really, since it refers to "her" and also I think the monkey is supposed to represent wild, dirty, etc. stigmas that people thought represented jews.

  • @ModernSilence Muslim? There's a good web article somewhere as to how the typical anti-Muslim prejudices are those formerly held against Jews. Joel Grey has put such a colossal stamp on this that it's hard to think of the MC in any other way. Essentially it's what "all right-thinking people" know to be wrong and perverted. Then again, in the Weimar Republic there was plenty of that! Anti-sleaze gained Nazism more German support than anti-Semitism because Jews were more integrated than in Austria

  • This Emcee Is Fab!!!!!!

  • I prefer the Joel Grey version.

  • I think this is better than the movie version tbh :/ this is amazing, really good Emcee aswell

  • That last line shows you how warped Germany is getting

  • This is a great version, although that gorilla was almost stealing the act romping around so much.

That emcee is great, not to mention cute.

  • hmm i can easily imagine the little tramp doing a similar interpretation! yes cumming was OTT sex, entertaining, trashy punk star rubbing it in yer face. and it didn't necessarily stay within the cabaret allegorical context anymore (more like Cabaret + Alan Cumming Show? not that it's bad on the audience:))

  • So wonderful.. I think I have fallen in love with Cabaret. Especially Emcee :) God is this normal??

  • This is one of the best interpritations of this song I have ever seen. Well done. The ending was perfect. "She wouldn't look Jewish at all." Gave me chicken skin.

  • Nice voice.

  • Wow, that's pretty good. It's not often I see an emcee and think, "He was really good." Normally my purest nature makes me dislike them after seeing Alan. But this was very good.

  • in my personal opinion, alan was nothing compared to this

im actually quite opposed to this revival version, because it gave Cabaret a reputation as trashy, and all about sex and such

however the real show is so much deeper and the fact that most schools do this version doesnt help

however, this version is almost enough to save the reputation

    well done, JP

  • Nice version .i LOVE cabaret foR ME WAS A SURPRISE WHEN i SAW IN in NYC.I saw different versions of CABARET of SAM MENDEZ; NEW YORK and BUENOS AIRES BEAUTIFUL BOTH OF THEm,really perfect both:The version of THE FOLIES BERGERE IN PARIS AND MADRID WERE AWFUL

    DAniel

  • No! The french version is (for me) the best! Claire prot is fantastic, the show is great.

  • DID YOU SEE ANOTHER VERSION?The french version was without passion ,yes you are wright the show is great but not the french and spain version

  • I don't need to see another one to know what i think of the version that i have seen. This show completely upset me.

  • OK WE HAVE DIFFERENT CRITERIA;BUT IT IS IMPORTANT COMPARe HOW THE QUALITY PERFORMANCES ARE.I STUDY THEATRE here .I would like that you can see the version of NY and Buenos Aires and the you could change your mine if you have enough "sensivity" to see the difference

  • This show should do more than upset you, it should paralyse you.

  • It did, it really did, believe me. I am french, and I don't speak so fluently. Sometimes I have difficulties to find the actual word.

  • dose anyone have the piano tabs for the this?

  • This emcee sings differently from the others... More style. I like it.

  • yeah. i think this song is the darkest and scariest in the whole show. I'm jewish, so it scares me even more.

  • yeah. it is a shame. because like this song...is really dark. and the audience is like hysterical at the end when it's supposed to be tense...they're stupid. haha like when he says "she wouldn't look JEWISH at all" it scares me. but they're laughing. whatever. they dont get it. hah

  • It's a shame something funny happened right before the line "she wouldn't look Jewish at all", because that's when there should be really tense moment, but unfortunately it's lost

  • great job. but he has so many american sounds happening here lol needs more German sounds here and there

  • I dont think that is american sounds you hear, as he's actually British....

  • Very good song with an all-time message, good performance and voice, not quite so good filming.

  • i walked into this wile watching for a sex psitols song random huh? and i think this is bloody ausom!

  • What a great performance! Thanks so much for uploading this.

  • thanks for posting ... i love this song ... and everything about it

  • He's my 2nd favorite emcee, only becuse the guy I had a crush on did this. And it's not hard to see why when it's the guy you have a crush on. It's funny that their both John's! Peterson remind me of Randfild from the old Dracula movie at the end after he pauses and the flaps his hands. I love it if you could post Peterson's Wilkommen, that my favorite song from Cabaret. You got me whanting to see more of him!

  • AMAZING, GREAT, THE BEST!

  • A textbook example of the response this song should get from an audience. Great.

  • This is absolutely amazing. Great music. Great lyrics. Great acting. And the best thing is the message conveyed. Really important. Really dark.

  • Great job. this is one of the best songs from Cabaret. He is AMAZING>!!!
