Awesome Jetlag2222 i just picked myself up one of these... So on the stock ESC how many (lipo) cells can i run?? Wanna order me up some batteries tonight, i was thinking of going with 2 5000mah 2 cells with a no vac voltage cut off... Again awesome video man...
i was thinking about getting another r/c boat but i wanted something faster than the stuff sold at walmart i was wondering if this would be a good beginner boat
@XxboaredofbordemxX Its ok but if you realy want to get into it get the traxxas spartan (titan) boat. fast and can handle two 3s lipo batterys for a speed of around 50mph. its $360 at rcplanet.com
thats wierd i have the evx 2 and i hae the new edition of the villain ex, and it says, i can only run 14.4 volts of power on the esc. my hobby guy said i even cant to that, if i had the 16.8 volts, my speed would be up to 37 mph , normally out of the box with stock batterys is 28 mph to 32 mph on calm water
so here is the problem. Saltwater is EXTREMELY corrosive to r/c stuff. Yes you can run a boat in saltwater, but you have to rinse it off in fresh water IMMEDIATELY afterwards really really well or all the metal parts will get corroded and seize up.
It definitely made it pop on plane quicker with the metal props. Also top speed goes up a bit. And they look cool. I thought it was worth it. you have to decide if it's worth the cost.
u got hose bad plugs u should switch to those high connectros ones i got them and give u less charging and more power for your boat to go faster with the normal cables like 30 mph, with the high connectors i get like 37 mph difference almost 10mph man
What does that have to do with the Villian EX speedboat? lol. I don't have a slayer. If you have one, why don't you make the video and I will watch for a change? :))
I ended up getting a villian iv and it supposedly goes 15-18mph. I'm just wondering how fast your EX was going because I have not tried mine yet and want a speed comparison because that looked FAST! Thanks!
My IV also takes 2 batteries at once so do you have any idea if the speed is somewhat similar to your boat in this video? (I know that it is slower but I don't know how much) Thanks for replying!
Sorry, I didn't explain it very well. Both boats take 2 batteries. However they use them quite differently. the IV uses them in parallel to increase run times. So your boat will run longer than mine. the EX uses them in series to increase voltage up to 14.4v which makes the motors spin faster and increases speed. I'm not sure how much faster, you will just have to try it out.
it says on the traxxas website in the traxxas website on acceserys go to escs and select the esc it has. scroll down and it will say 6-7 cell 16.8v dc
That's because the one listed on the website is the EVX2. My boat is 2 years old and has the original EVX. So unless I want to buy the new EVX2 I have to use 14.4v. Which is ok because it's fast enough for me already.
The Villain EX (uses 2 batts at once) is one of the most fun out-of-the-box boats in my opinion. There are other boats that are faster but this boat is just fun from the 1st minute after you open the box. I would recommend it to anyone that wants a ready-to-run fun electric boat.
lol. You must have been watching my guitar videos. I don't know which one you were talking about tho... The blue guitar is a Kramer solid body. The red one is an Ibanez pro line. The black one is a Jackson flying V. The acoustic guitar is a Martin DCME cutaway dreadnought.
I'm using 3900s. It takes 2 at a time for the EX and they last about 12-15 minutes with normal driving. If I use full throttle all the time, they last about 8 minutes.
can i use 2 5000mah 2s lipos and is it durable and how often does it break

can you use 2 8.4 packs with stock motors and speed control?
pieman12345678987654 2 years ago
yes. the new EVX-2 can handle up to 16.8 volts input.
jetlag2222 in reply to pieman12345678987654 (Show the comment) 2 years ago
@jetlag2222 then why do you use 7.2 packs?

lol. I don't race this boat, it's just for fun so I am ok with the regular connectors.

Why don't you upgrade the Villain EX with a twin brushless system :D !?

I've thought about it. :) Just haven't had time yet.

The EX uses 2 batteries at once so it gets a lot more power. It's in the 25 - 27mph range with new batteries.

I got mine 2 yrs ago so I'm sure the price is different now. Just do a google search for it. They should be for sale everywhere.

oh but if u still have the esc from the e-revo u could use it on the boat

6 or 7 cell?
rustlervxldude98 3 years ago
2 X 6cell. This speed controller can only hand 14.4v input, so 2 6cells is all I can do unless I want to replace the ESC.
