If you're worried about mpg, then get something that reflects that. Obviously, a 5.3L V8 will not have very good milage. My hummer h2 gets 7-11 mpg depending on how I drive. (That's a 6.2 V8). Whereas my girlfriend has a mini cooper that gets 30 mpg. But they were made for different things. I take my hummer off roading with my buddies, and I've never seen a good off roader with excellent mpg. If you're concerned or looking for a car with good milage, stick with something with a smaller engine.

thats funny because i own a silverado, suburban, and el camino and neither of those cars has been in a wreck. my 5600lb silverado stops just fine. same goes for my suburban thats very close to weighing 3 tons. my 37 year old el camino stops even better with its37 year old braking system. if you really want to know the truth its smaller cars that are the risk on the roads. sub compact are he most dangerous to drive.

Large sedans aren't really a problem, the concern is SUVs and trucks. Subcompacts are pretty unsane, compacts are not so much. The Civic is only unsafe to drive in because of SUVs, but the Aveo and especially the Smart aren't even terribly safe to drive around an average sedan. The Mini's pretty safe though.
Even if the suburban gets good mileage for an SUV, if you aren't hauling a lot of cargo or people then you're still using more fuel than you need to. Additionally, I'm not criticizing you...
well from my experiences compacts and sub compacts are dangerous to drive because theyre unstable vehicals. i use to work for a coroner as his assistant. i usually had to go scrape up people off of the highways. most of the people i had to bag were driving compact cars that had crashed because theyre cars cant handle the road conditions. theres a purpose for every one of my vehicals.
That doesn't mean that people can't drive regular sized sedans. The Prius is quite spacious and fits the needs of a lot of people. And I know your vehicles have a purpose, but do you use them for those purposes?
the prius has space? for how? asian and short people? my buddy has a 07 prius and i cant sit in the front passenger seat because my knees hit the dash. its very uncomfortable upfront. im only 6 foot even. i do use my vehicals for what i bought them for.
go get a 6 foot tall friend and have him sit in a prius at a toyota dealership. i use my truck for hauling parts from our shop to an outside shop then go to automotive parts shops to collect parts needed. i sometimes use it for towing my boat. i use my suburban for hauling customers cars that lives beyond 100 miles of my shop. the reason why i do this is because my suburban was built for towing and it also has a 30 gallon fuel i also use this suv for camping. my classic is a cruiser.

Oh its very nice when i drive in it i feel as if iam in a Huge monster truck and its very nice and dark inside becuase of the tented windows and the black smooth leather seats i can Jam has a nice CD player and radio of courseand back seats which has alot more room then a Normal Car and its realy good to control and it drives well on rocks (unlike other car's which have a hard time driving on rocks) and i love blowing the loud ass horn at stupid people who cant drive on the road .
The envioroment? im no fan of hummers (im a Land Rover fan and owner and i off road all the time) but i like to see what they can do and i respect all off roaders what ever the car they use. They do fairly well in the snow, thogh they do have quite a bit of bulk, which can make them slide surprisingly far on icy surfaces.
But that goes for any large SUV / offroader.
Admittedly, the one I drove had a faulty traction control, so I can't comment on that feature.
Just make sure to have proper tires and keep in mind you are driving a heavy car and you should be fine. :)

Even if they drive very well (I haven't driven one), nearly everyone who doesn't like them feels that way because of the gas mileage (and by extension, the ludicrous amounts of pollution) and because of how unsafe they are for any other car on the road. Any SUV is quite dangerous to any sedan or compact, but Hummers, being the biggest, are especially unsafe (even to smaller SUVs). Most people who buy Hummers only do it because they want a big car, but it's not worth putting others in danger.

thats funny because i own a silverado, suburban, and el camino and neither of those cars has been in a wreck. my 5600lb silverado stops just fine. same goes for my suburban thats very close to weighing 3 tons. my 37 year old el camino stops even better with its37 year old braking system. if you really want to know the truth its smaller cars that are the risk on the roads. sub compact are he most dangerous to drive.

I'm not talking about how quickly they stop, but by pointing out how smaller cars are at risk is only proving my point. The only reason it's riskier to be in a smaller car is because SUVs are very dangerous to them in an accident. I don't think anyone can deny that most people who drive SUVs don't need them, and if these people would drive smaller cars like they should we'd have less pollution, less disease, and less devastating accidents.

im not proving you point. im simply saying that suvs and trucks are safer cars to drive due to the fact that when theyre involved in an accident 90% of the time the people inside survive. thats not the case with people in sub compacts and compacts. who cares what people need or dont need? i dont need 3 cars but i have 3 cars because i can afford to do so. actually my suburban isnt a gros polluter. ive had my suburban tested and pass. a honda accord thats stock with less than 100k did o pass. hmm

No, you're proving my point by saying that it's more unsafe to be in a regular sedan, and the reason it's less safe is because of SUVs on the road.
And yes, your suburban is a gross polluter. Any SUV that large is going to use a lot of fuel. Same goes for the Silverado. And as you said, you don't even need all three. Are you even aware of the pollution problem we have from people driving big vehicles they don't need?

suvs, trucks, and large sedans arnt the reason why compacts and sub compacts are unsafe. have you see civics get in wrecks? most of the time the car splits in half where the front seats are. im not going to talk about the aveo, smart car, and those mini coopers because those things are death traps. my suburban doesnt use alot of fuel. i can go exactly 132 miles and not even use a quarter tank if i keep it at 65 on the cruise control. who cares what i have? i can afford to own 3 cars soon to be 4

Large sedans aren't really a problem, the concern is SUVs and trucks. Subcompacts are pretty unsane, compacts are not so much. The Civic is only unsafe to drive in because of SUVs, but the Aveo and especially the Smart aren't even terribly safe to drive around an average sedan. The Mini's pretty safe though.
Even if the suburban gets good mileage for an SUV, if you aren't hauling a lot of cargo or people then you're still using more fuel than you need to. Additionally, I'm not criticizing you...

well from my experiences compacts and sub compacts are dangerous to drive because theyre unstable vehicals. i use to work for a coroner as his assistant. i usually had to go scrape up people off of the highways. most of the people i had to bag were driving compact cars that had crashed because theyre cars cant handle the road conditions. theres a purpose for every one of my vehicals.

go get a 6 foot tall friend and have him sit in a prius at a toyota dealership. i use my truck for hauling parts from our shop to an outside shop then go to automotive parts shops to collect parts needed. i sometimes use it for towing my boat. i use my suburban for hauling customers cars that lives beyond 100 miles of my shop. the reason why i do this is because my suburban was built for towing and it also has a 30 gallon fuel i also use this suv for camping. my classic is a cruiser.

Oh its very nice when i drive in it i feel as if iam in a Huge monster truck and its very nice and dark inside becuase of the tented windows and the black smooth leather seats i can Jam has a nice CD player and radio of courseand back seats which has alot more room then a Normal Car and its realy good to control and it drives well on rocks (unlike other car's which have a hard time driving on rocks) and i love blowing the loud ass horn at stupid people who cant drive on the road .

The envioroment? im no fan of hummers (im a Land Rover fan and owner and i off road all the time) but i like to see what they can do and i respect all off roaders what ever the car they use. Im ecco but i work hard too. Im only happy when i fire my car up and an ozone hole appears. Do you hunt through youtube looking for big vehicles just to moan and make us feel guilty? i think all of you are missing the point. it IS a niche vehicle. its not about mpg. and honestley it doesnt even have competition for the class of vehicle that its in. jeep/midsize truck,with available V8,lockers,33" tires,and "a bed"! no its not a jeep,and as far as i know jeeps dont have V8s, or the towing capacity of this "niche" truck. ugly? YES! kinda cool? YES! overpriced? maybe. i just wonder how the ifs will hold up when its locked!
