Xbox was used as an expression, i.e you don't even have to be conscious to make money if you're a merchant. You could be dead and buried but still making money on offers you placed on the Grand Exchange. "Labour" can be considered a task which takes a long time to complete, and sticking to it in order to achieve your goal. This is what you have to go through to attain high stats, or lots of money. Of course, money can be by-passed by merchanting, but that spoils the competition.

There is such thing as "evil genius". Not that I'm implying that merchanters are evil, but the mentality of the first merchanters was not of that to benefit the people, rather only themselves. Merchenting is triggered by greed, the lust for wealth. The people who decide to join these merchenters in so-called clans are not smart, they are anything but. These people are sheep, and it is this plague that swept RuneScape which made me quit. I'm not being leeched from by the masses.

It affects me and everyone who happens to ever intend to buy or sell anything during their time in Runescape - i.e. everyone. Price fluctuations are caused by supply and demand. Merchenters abuse this by draining all supply and hogging recourse to themselves in huge quantities to force the prices to go up as demand rises. This means items that people ACTUALLY need are in the hands of some retards levels 3 to 60 because their clan leader told them to buy out the selected item.

And no, I didn't quit JUST because of merchenters, but they had a lot to contribute towards the gradual downfall of what I once used to consider one of the most pleasurable games to play. Runescape was ruined by a number of reasons in my opinion, the huge graphics update was the biggest for me, not just because I didn't like it, but the way Jagex responded to complaints, and the fact that they lied, stating that HD would be seperate and everything else would be "unchanged".

The funnest gaming years of my life were around the time I started playing Runescape (2004 onwards) and it was a joy to play. The people were mature and helpful and fun to be around, the game was very challenging and I learnt a lot from it. The new Runescape has been numbed down by far too many aids and assists to make things pip-squeek easy, and the challenge has been destroyed.

It depends on how wealthy the merchenter of concern is. I have seen people with about 350 pairs of Torags legs, an item which is in common high-demand by pkers and others. Without these in the economy, the item does begin to rise. Without an item rise, a merchenter does not profit. All merchenters have the same mindset, others just go about it in "less" destructive ways. However, it will ALWAYS involve causing price inflation, because of the nature of how it works.
