  • 2:42 She's 15 in this picture...

  • Rule number 1, the doctor lies.

  • He has a daughter now, and Russell T Davis mentioned, that the woman in the end of time, was his mother.

  • If roger delgardo hadent died then jon pertwees final story would of been called the final battle which featured the master it was supposed to be revealed that the master was the doctors brother and he would of died to save the doctor.

  • the old woman in end of time is the drs mum rtd said in his book

  • Um, I thought the master was the doctors brother. Or at least, that's my interpretation of "planet of fire".

  • Not to throw a wrench into the works...originally the Dr. and susan were not related. It was felt the audience would not accept an old man with a young girl. So they made susan his granddaughter. Doesn't matter though. These new Doctors seem to have forgotten who they used to be. So now he can be someone else.

  • The Doctor, Rani and the Master all went to the Academy together. They are all the same age. The Doctor and the Master were best friends once.

  • Sorry but in the end of time the master said to the doctor when WE were kids and there have been hints that the doctor is related to Susan on her MOTHERS side and in an episode which's name escapes me and the master hits on the Rani I dought he'd hit on his own mother no matter how mest up in the head he is its a nice and clever theory but it doesnt work sorry.

  • when the master says: Woudl u kill one of your own? then he means would u kill a time lord, face to face, stare him into the eye and kill him.

  • What if the Doctor's only "part" human rather than half human? Maybe his mum was a time "lady" who fell for a human? What if the human was called Jack Harkness? Xp

  • Maybe, just maybe, the Master is the doctor's,... dare I say it, acquaintance of the same species?

  • I thought the current makers of Dr Who flatly denied that "half-human" silliness as an ill-advised stunt to increase (American) viewer interest. Notice that it's never been raised since (it was explained as a complication of regenerating).

And the Doctor thwarted the Master's plans countless times: it's no real mystery why he hates the good Doctor.

  • I think the master is the doctor's father's, brother's, nephew's, cousin's former roommate.

  • @mttplrd lol space balls ftw

  • they have confirmed that the Master and the Doctor were childhood friends. it's more likely that the Rani hooked up with both of them and that's why he hate him so much, and The Doctor feels bad for stealing her a way.

  • You know I think the idea of the Master being the Doctor's son would actually be a good idea. Maybe the Doctor pushed him into looking into the Time Vortex when he wasn't ready or even meant to be a time lord. Hell maybe it was the time lord elite etc. that pushed it as well. I also had a thought that maybe Susan was the Masters daughter and that's why The Doc left not wanting to make the same mistake with his granddaughter that he did with her father.

  • intersting theory. Would explain much, particularly the dr's heartbreak at the Master's demise. However, wouldn't he have told Sarah when he introduced her to him that he was his father? (the Five Doctors)

  • When we first see the Master (Terror of the Autons) the Doctor is warned by the Time Lords that his enemy, not his son is coming...

  • Going back to the Rani's first appearance during the 6th Doctor's era, it was mentioned that the Doctor, Master, and Rani were all at the Academy AT THE SAME TIME. They were three friends who at some point had a falling out that ended up pitting the Doctor against the other two. We also know that the idea that the Doctor was half-human was another of the Master's many mistakes caused by him jumping to conclusions. The eye that he saw was Grace's as she kissed the Doctor.

  • compelling theory.

  • As far as I know the Doctor and the Master went to the Academy togheter; but the idea that the Master is the Doctor's son (and posibly Susan's dad) is awesome!

  • i supose it depends on how young the doctor was when he had him and how long timelords spend at the accademy. the doctor described himself as "just achild" when he was 64. maybe he was still at the accademy and maybe he had the master before then. It was also said that the doctor didnt do very well at some things. maybe he got held back and repeated some classes with the master. how embasassing would that be. going to school with your dad.

  • Naw... I mean, I still believe the idea of the Master being the Doctor's son and Susan't dad would be pretty awesome; but I don't think is possible; the thing with the Doc and the Master is that they were friends before becoming enemies

  • The BBC was going to make it that in the classic doctor who the master and the doctor were brothers but opted out at the final moment

  • I´ve heard that. but plans don't make canon. And they're not related

  • But where does that put Eight?

  • Eight is Eight. He fought a war, he died, he said a lot of weird things in his post-regeneration state, he got his own series of Audio Dramas. He is canon, he had a movie, he's not just a plan

  • The Doctor's origin was explained in Lungbarrow. A book licenced by *THE BBC*.

Lungbarrow *IS* canon and IS the origin. Anything else is WRONG.

  • It is not, deal with it.

  • It is. Fact.

    Get over it.

  • It isn't and I'm not gonna say anything else, 'cause I know this could go on forever if I do

  • Okay... not to jump in (as this post is from 5 months ago), but I have made it a mini-mission in life to correct misleading information about one of my favorite sci-fi shows -- per the BBC, only TELEVISED episodes of Doctor Who (and other untelevised ones directly cited in televised stories) are canon -- NO DETERMINATION by books, audioplays, or theatrical releases, even those produced by the BBC itself, are cited as canon, one way or another, unless later adapted to a televised episode. Period

  • Damn... my post did not appear beneath who I was responding to... that sucks...

  • Wrong.

    Books are canon.

    Accept it.

  • Sorry to disagree, Gumby, but the BBC has been quite clear on the matter: they do not claim the books published (by whatever license) as canon -- they do not *preclude* them from *becoming* canon in future use or reference, by any means, but their official standing is to not stand on points from novelizations, et al, whether pro or con, and by holding such a stand do not provide for canon in terms of the books. Sorry. That is their official policy. That may change in the future, but for now.

  • .. that is how things stand (comment got cut due to length and I didn't realize it)

  • It may say in the encyclopedia that the doctors brother, children and ..... died in the time war. But the the doctor said that the master was not his half brother which also means that he wasnt his brother. And also I dont think that the doctor would marry Rani. It seems too weird. It would rather be someone else

  • Yeah, but then again when she was younger she may have been different.

  • Actually it is confimed in the last episode of series 4 that a human time lord metacrisis has never happened before and can't happen.

  • the doctor and the master went to the academy together and were once close friends. there not related in any way at all. fact.

  • not brothers

  • Where is it confirmed the doctor is the masters brother? Why didn't you include the doctors genetically engineered daughter fom the doctor's daughter?

  • The Doctor is The Masters Half brother thats confirmed.

  • LOL! Sexy time. Nice way of putting it ;)

  • Wrong Rani & Master Are Not Related To The Doctor And Susan Had 2 Children As Heard In The Audio Play... Whatever Happened To Susan Foreman

  • Why speculate about a fictional character?

  • Because it's less libellous than speculating about a real-life character...

  • The master Isn´t related to the doctor in anyway.

They where friends and went to the academy together, but time you could say drew them apart now they are arc nemesis.

  • Get em all on jez kyle... only he can sort out the truth from the lies.

  • The doctor was married, one would assume, because he refers to them as a 'family', that his wife was also his childs other parent. This seems like something that would have come up if it was Rani...

The Doctor was also very clear that the Master has no relation to him, he's just a former friend.

The eight doctor was also an adaption for America and should be taken with a bit of a pinch of salt because of his out of character tendancies.

  • There's that way of seeing the 8th doctor, but there is another. "Gallifrey" is a real Norse word, meaning "Land of the Foreign (or Distant) Lords", but why would the Gallifreyans call themselves that? Unless... Instead of the Doctor being half-human, humans are half-Timelord. Then the movie, the attacks on Earth in Trial of a Timelord, the fascination Earth holds for alien races, all makes a whole lot more sense.

  • Interesting theory. I never thought of that. I didn't even know what Gallifrey meant! Very interesting....

  • The more I look at linking Gallifrey and the Timelords with Nordic and Celtic mythology, the more similarities I find. However, I have heard it on fairly good authority that the intended meaning was "They who walk in shadows" and that Timelords are based around Buddhist symbolism. So far, I cannot reconcile all this.

  • Question for the people who thought the Master was the son of the Doctor. If he was the Doctor would had said it? I mean yes they would wait for the end but serously poeple! Just think!

  • gd finkin! The doctor mother was definitaly human i no that..r timelords r aloud to marry humans or diferent speices or r they not?gd vid by the way plz can ppl comment mine if i comment urs!thxs=D

  • In "Sound of Drums" The Doctor states that the Master, was "A friend a first." People keep mistaking that and asking if he is his brother or something like that. But, he does clearing state that he was a friend.

  • @TheMastersMistress

some people think they were lovers lol

  • @TheMastersMistress In the Planet of Fire episode, *yes, a classic ep* in the script the Master was supposed 2 say brother. But, they didn't put it in the end.

  • WTF??? This was great fun, so the master was the Doctor's bastard baby, and he hates him with great affection b'cause all sons want to murder their dads to a certain extend (in this case almost literally). It would explain why the Master is evil and mad: evil because he didn't want to be like da who is a Goody Goody two shoes, and mad because mom tinkered with his DNA.... SAD

  • The Doctor and The Master are not brothers, just forget to mention it.

  • they are brothers its comfirmed and brothers usully hate each other not father and son

  • They're not brothers. The Doctor said so in The Sound Of Drums.

  • Tom your right there I certainly hate my brother.

  • I do believe there is a conection between those three Time Lords but I think it's because the Doctor saw eternaty and ran away, the Master saw eternaty and went mad and the Rani saw eternaty and was inspired. I refuse to believe the Master is the Doctor's son. But very good theory.

  • Great theory. Very intelligent and creative. But I personally believe that only the Eigth Doctor is half-human. That's the only thing I disagree with but I really loved this vid. It still might be a possibility but that's only my opinion. And although I'm not too certain, the connection between the Doctor, the Rani and the Master could be possible.

  • The Song that is on this video was at the reception on the runaway bride.

  • Ok ive just found out that the master and rhe doctor where in the acadamy at the same time, but he could still be the doctors son. Timelords spend a long time in the academy and the doctor was heald back. so it is posable that they went to the academy at the same time. If the doctor and the Rani had the master at a young age (Which is a definate posability id the randy doctor was pumping with human hormones)

  • could this be the mysterious scandal the doctor is involved with.

  • @the3rejects No. Everything in this, other than the Doctor's parents, and Susan, is wrong. Using the novels, audio and TV shows, someone has maed the OCRRECT family tree here. However, they have missed off the Daughter?s two daughters, Lyria and Jenny. Here is the Link...

    do this again... make it right! h t t p : / / d a i b h i d -c .l i v e j o u r n a l. com / 4 1 1 3 .h t m l

  • no! the master is the doctors brother!!!!

  • I love the title of the family tree. It makes me think that Roger Daltrey, Pete Townsend, John Entwistle, and Keith Moon are somehow biologically related.

  • Another thing the master belives cartoons are real if he beleved the clangers and the telitubies are real then maybe he once believed fairytales about the toclophane. Humans tell fairytiles timelords are more serious.

  • the master is the doctors brother DUH

    THAT IS CONFIRMED

  • Where exactly in th tv seris. Not the web, radeo or books is that confermed?

  • the master was the doctor's brother or half brother i dono but it is true it was on a documentry about the master

  • He is not. I think they were planing to do it, but they didn't and now is too late; the Doctor and the Master are not related.

And just so you know they were at first planing to make the Master a dark part of the Doctor's psyque or something, but then Roger Delgado died
