This scene made me cry.... to see such beautiful technology destroyed; its depressing really, and when Tima fell.. I fell out of my chair and bawled on the floor. :'(
@marcster1994 Why is that? This movie has a different style from, for example, the Studio Ghibli productions, but I still consider it to be anime. I'd be interested in alternative views.
Don't be an idiot. There's plenty of anime even better than this. It's just that most people dismiss anime and miss out on a lot of great stuff. Damn this is a great scene.
@lilchris316 hmm, odd the music and scene are from the end of the movie, this isn't an amv as others are, the song was chosen for the scene and if you watch the movie makes perfect sense in the end
@House3272 nope. thats just how they talk. They first say the person, then what it is. like who am i? Watashi wa dare? who are you? Kimi wa dare, u get it. First subject, then description.
I love this movie and am not only proud but fortunate to have a copy. I saw it many years ago on my second attendance at Anime Expo (2002) and I fell in love with it and had to find it, oddly enough I found it in the Children's section of my local Walmart and this is not a children's movie.
One way to make this scene a little funny is to imagine that Tima's rage was what destroyed the Ziggurrat, and all the big red button does is play pleasant music.
"Warning: Break glass if you need a pretty soundtrack for your impending doom."
I am trying to find the movie with the japaneese voices and english subs!
I can't believe you actually found the cutscene! Ya know, the movie used to be on youtube EXACTLY as I wanted it, but It got deleted for copyright reasons and so forth. I NEEEEEED YOUR HELP! If you can tell me where to find the movie wih japaneese voices and english subtitles, I will SUSCRIBE to you!
@TheMetropolis101 Hi there. I saw this on TV, but it's available on Amazon..com (search for "Metropolis anime") with multiple languages and subtitles. Hope this helps.
My friend is trying to get me to watch this movie, she obsessed with it, so i looked it up, found this video....and....i don't even have any emotional attatchment to the characters like i would it i watched the whole movie BUT I'M STILL CRYING!! :( this has got to be the saddest moment in anime history
man this movie... was by far one of the best movies out there that teaches the valuable principle of friendship. And it sounds funny when u watch it in French ^-^
I remember when I watched this movie for the first time, my dad was sleeping on the couch and suddenly woke up when the song started playing, he was like 'Where is that song coming from?' and I pointed to the T.V. The next time the movie came on again he watched it with me, he loved it.
No matter how many times I watch it, this scene always gives me goose bumps and makes me tear up a little. Probably one of the best anime scenes ever.
This scene is so powerful that I've made people cry just by telling them about it. When I first saw it I wept without shame or restrain. Beautiful, haunting, classic.
@LsBaba you know, sadly, nobody saw Rintaro's Metropolis the Movie on a TV commercials except the hayao miyazaki's spirited away the movie in america since 2002,
for example:
daveigh chase, jason marsden, lauren holly, michael chiklis and tara strong are popular as a celebrities from spirited away,
brianne siddall, rebecca forstadt, michael reisz, barbara goodson, jamieson price, steven blum, and dave mallow are obscurely rejected as a nobody from metropolis, wasn't it something?
i love metropolis its a beautiful anime and i cant stop loving you is just as beautiful.its like the song and movie was made for each other. haha but its really awesome.
My friend was left depressed over this film, secne and song and i was like 'well you could have watched something else?!?!?' and she was like 'but the film's so beautiful'
@misio1994 This was broadcast on UK television a few months earlier and I recorded on my PVR. I'm a fan of good quality anime (e.g. Last Exile and Ghibli Studio) so I kept a backup of the recording on my PC. I'll buy on DVD at some point, if I can find a good edition. I read somewhere that there was an alternative version of the film in which Kenichi found Tima after her fall and they stayed in the city. It would be nice to have that part as an extra feature on the DVD.
@LsBaba yes i watched this on film 4 years ago and that was the ending of it but when i watched it 3 months ago it wasnt the same ending so yes i agree id love to buy this film with that ending :) x
@LsBaba i think its the extended edition, you see kenichi out side a shop he owns call kenichi and tima's robot shop, tima is seen in a truck showing that kenichi was sucessful in rebuilding her. nice to know isnt it!
@LsBaba From what i've read it's not an alternative version, it was just a deleted scene that was excluded from the DVD version where, after the credits, it shows a robot repair shop owned by Kenichi along with Tima, implying that he managed to repair her in the end.
I can't seem to find the scene uploaded anywhere, though.
You gotta be fuckin kidin The last one I saw, the person who got this video had a different username and the video was in english version. You on the otherhand are different because this video is a japanese version. I can tell.
I just watched this great movie yesterday, and this scene reminded me of a similar scene in the Gunnm OVA/Manga. What a great choice of music. It was something I was not expecting when Rock decided to blow up the Ziggurat. It fits so well.
@demondrago21 That's how it struck me when I first saw the film.
I hadn't come across Gunnm until now. Looked it up and have ordered the Region 0 DVD from a supplier in the far east (bought Last Exile from them a while ago). Look fwd to watching it.
