I keep running into these definitions of faith, belief & knowledge. I hear people saying stuff like, belief is binary or we know because we have proof. It's not that simple, there's various definitons of faith & knowledge & both sides are guilty of equivocation fallacies time & time again. Belief isn't binary when using fuzzy logic. Rational beliefs don't have to be based on evidence, they can be a product of a process of elimination.

NATURAL LIMITS TO EVOLUTION: Only evolution within "kinds" is genetically possible (i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.), but not evolution across "kinds" (i.e. from worm to human). How were species living, reproducing if their reproductive system, vital structures, and organs hadn't evolved yet? Read my Pravda Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS! I discuss: Punctuated Equilibrium, "Junk DNA," genetics, mutations, natural selection, fossils, genetic/biological similarities between species.

Did all the trillions stars agree to get out of each others way? C'mon! Disorder in the universe is because of chance, but the order is because of design. Read my popular Internet article: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM.
WHAT IS SCIENCE? Science simply is knowledge based on observation. No one observed the universe coming by chance or by design, by creation or by macro-evolution. These are positions of faith. The issue is which faith the scientific evidence best supports. Natural laws can explain how an airplane or living cell works, but it's irrational to believe that undirected natural laws can bring about an airplane or a living cell. DAWKINS, HITCHENS, AND HAWKING REFUSE TO DEBATE with creationists who are SCIENTISTS, such as the scientists at The Institute for Creation Research. Dawkins and his friends only debate non-scientist creationists. Read articles by scientists supporting creation at The Institute for Creation Research site.
DO EYES CARRY SCARS OF EVOLUTION? Read this fantastic Internet article by biologist and creationist Brian Thomas. Thomas refutes every argument for a "flawed" design for the eye, and explains how and why the so-called flaw is actually the best thing for the eye. Read the article! It's amazing what facts evolutionists will ignore. Numerous times evolutionists have been proven wrong about their interpretation of a structure as flawed or useless.
BLIND WATCHMAKER NO ARGUMENT. Natural selection is no "blind watchmaker" because it can only "select" from variations produced having survival value. It doesn't produce variations. It only operates once there is life and reproduction, not before, so it couldn't be involved in life's origins. A partially-evolved cell (an oxymoron) would quickly disintegrate. It couldn't wait ("survive") millions of years for chance to complete it and then make it living! Read: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM
INTELLIGENT DESIGN DEBATE: If you discovered a sand castle on a lonely beach, you can't prove it was made by either chance or design. No one observed its origins. Either it was designed or the random forces of wind and waves made the castle. You didn't find fingerprints. Did the wind wipe the fingerprints away? How do we know that there were fingerprints in the first place? By chance or by design? Both sides should present their case. Read the article: HOW FORENSIC SCIENCE REFUTES ATHEISM
GENETIC INFORMATION DOESN'T HAPPEN BY CHANCE, so it's more logical to believe that genetic similarities between all forms of life are due to a common Designer who designed similar functions for similar purposes. It doesn't mean all forms of life are biologically related! "Junk DNA" isn't junk. These non-coding segments of DNA have recently been found to be vital in regulating gene expression. Read: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
ALL REAL EVOLUTION ( i.e. varieties of dogs, cats, etc.) is the expression, over time, of already existing genes. Evolution is possible only if there’s information (genes) directing it. Only variations of already existing genes are possible, which means only limited evolution and adaptations are possible. Nature has no ability to invent new genes via random mutations caused by random environmental forces. That’s evolutionary faith, not science. Read my article, WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
ARE FOSSILS REALLY MILLIONS OF YEARS OLD? Popular Internet article examines assumptions concerning fossil deposition as well as built-in assumptions involved in modern radiometric dating (not used for dating fossils but other rocks), arguments from starlight and time. Discusses lack of transitional forms and lack of "age" sequence of the fossil layers. Discusses mixed species in fossils (i.e. dinosaur, reptile, mammal fossils in the same stratum conveniently ignored by evolutionists).
IMAGINE A FISH WITH PART FINS, part feet with the fins evolving (transitioning) into feet. What survival benefit would there be? The fish couldn't use its fins or its feet, and there are no fossils showing such a creature ever existed. They only exist on automobile bumper stickers! There are no true transitional forms, either living or fossilized. Evolutionists realize this fact! Read my Internet article: WAR AMONG EVOLUTIONISTS!
NOT ALL EVOLUTIONISTS even agree on the fossils used to support and reconstruct human evolution. The bones are incomplete. There's no certainty of the bones belonging to the same creature. They can reconstruct whatever they want from these bones, and they have. There's no hard evidence that humans evolved from an ape-like creature anymore than there's hard evidence that apes evolved from a four-legged dog-like creature. Read my article: MISSING LINKS THAT NEVER WERE
APES ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE IN HOW THEY WALK, just as humans are quite comfortable in how they walk. Even a slight change in the position of a muscle or bone, for either, would be excruciatingly painful and would not be an advantage for survival. There's no hard evidence that humans evolved from ape-like creature anymore than there's hard evidence that apes evolved from four-legged dog-like creatures. Read Internet article: MISSING LINKS THAT NEVER WERE.
There is no real violation of church/state separation in teaching both, evolution and Intelligent Design because no one is being forced to believe in God's existence or any religion. Taxpayers on the both sides of the issue pay for public education. It is only fair that scientific arguments and evidence of both sides be presented, at the very least in public school textbooks. The issue is important because it affects people's lives, their values, philosophy, and worldview.
EINSTEIN CONFIRMED that space and time are just as physical as matter. That's why space and time can become contorted by gravity. Einstein's equations showed that the universe cannot be eternal. It had a beginning. Einstein believed, because of science, in the existence of God behind the origin and order of the universe. He didn't believe in a personal God like Christians do, but he did believe science pointed to the existence of an all powerful and intelligent Creator!

Your story about your early life, Aron, where "God" and "magical creation" were universal axioms, is almost exactly the same as mine. After scratching my head and wondering how adults were expecting me to accept fairy tales as undeniable fact, the first time, and finally, I saw a plylogenetic tree, my reaction was actually "Thank God!! - Something that can I make sense of!!" - Lol!!
You got that a lil' backwards, dude. And no, we fight against ignorance, stupidity, falsehoods, their influence, and those who perpetuate such nonsense.
And even then, just WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE claiming that we're people who have to "force" or "trick" themselves into believing in no God, when it's really YOU who has to force YOURSELF into believing in the Christian God! We don't have to "force" ourselves to believe _despite evidence_, our beliefs are based ON that e

Its so hilarious that Atheist go the extreme to fight with all their efforts against a GOD they dont believe in. They have to force themselves into unbelief ...pretty pathetic
@chaomonga They still are wasting their time...if they dont believe then let it be and get on with your life if others believe in GOD then let them be.
@duecepitbull if it was that easy (you dont believe, but i believe, let it be) then it wouldn't be a problem. When religion gets to the point where it is on our money, in our pledge of allegiance, & in our country's motto, then it has gone too far. Our constitution says people have a right to personal beliefs, but THAT'S ALL! The RUNNING of the country should have nothing to do with religion whatsoever. When the country endorses theism (& it has) it makes kind patriotic atheists feel unwelcome.
@WillHJohnson Its always Majority over Minority and the small percentage that is against religion has to just go along with what the majority believe..
@duecepitbull I'm sorry, but that is absolutely incorrect. The US Constitution guarantees a separation of church and state. The only way to have freedom OF religion is if people that don't want it can have freedom FROM religion. This cannot happen if the government wrongly endorses a deity. If the government one day decided to change our slogan to "in Buddha we trust" and put that on our currency, it might make you see my point. Freedom of religion is precisely the opposite of what you stated.
@duecepitbull I'm an atheist, yet these days I'm apathetic. After watching countless of believers vs non - believers videos of debating and arguments; it's become pretty pathetic to me, these arguments and debates will continue no matter what anyone says...people change on their own, not because you think they should.
Atheist don't force themselves into unbelief...it's natural process.
@luciano9009 There are some people like "cult of dusty" on youtube that says they deconverted due to youtube "raping their faith," and wikipedia "raping his faith" all from facts about the bible, Jesus, Christianity, the god arguments failing, and empirical evidence. And yes it was a natural process for me, but youtube was the catalyst that helped me understand why I was the way I was.. The creationists need to be taught though lolXD
AhhhhronRa - the Ahhh is for a breath of fresh air. I think you very succinctly pointed out the problem with debating those who will not abandon their faith. They often know they will not budge, no matter what the evidence is. I think that's mostly from fear: fear of hell, or of being wrong and having to re-evaluate life. What are the greatest fears these people are facing? Perhaps that could be another series.

I appreciate the fact that you point out that there are theists who accept evolution. Dawkins put pen to paper on that one and I'm curious to know if he talked with you further about it?

Looks like Dawkins is not mentally challenged enough. This does seem like a total mismatch and snooze. Dawkins is at least known in his field to have credibility though not always sold on even his own opinion for as areas that deal with actual human biology. As a college degreed academic it doesn't make him smarter. But Aron Ra no matter with a degree or without one is not on Richard's level.
Aron Ra has no discipline in any specific area, except for being known as an atheist,
@mamaschristmasbunny "But Aron Ra no matter with a degree or without one is not on Richard's level.
Aron Ra has no discipline in any specific area, except for being known as an atheist, Satanist."
Correct Dawkins has a dergee in Biology & AronRa doesnt, but does that mean that AronRa is wrong in what he is saying, NO. But if you think he is wrong PLEASE provide the evidence to support that claim, OH & why would you call AronRa a "Satanist"? He doesnt worship anything let alone the "devil"!?
@mamaschristmasbunny So if you were in Dawkin's position, you wouldn't lower yourself to sit at a table with the hoi poloi? A very grand person you must be.
You fucking jerkoff douchebag awesome motherfucker - just watch Dawkins reactions to you speaking, how he leans in, and is at times, completely devoting his posture and attention toward you.
This is the guy who did the science education videos in the 70s in the UK. He's an athiest to the degree he likes coffee, compared to his stature as a scientist.
This guy sat with Dennet, Hitchens and Harris, and he's giving you the same attention.
I hope you appreciate the acknowledgement of that company
Lol, 10:40 AronRa goes on one of his famous (3000 word per minute) explanations about evolution, I'd imagine he's gotten so quick at it, because he has to keep explaining himself to creationists, but at 10:40 check out Dawkins face when Ra starts telling it. Also, is it just me or is there something about AronRa when you look at him and hear him that makes you think before his name is spoken or written it shall always follow the title (GrandMaster)
Aron, I need someone to save the world for me. Could you help me? Please look up James Hansen and Venus syndrome. Tipping point of no return is december 2016. If we don't end all fossil fuel industry immediately, all life on earth gets incinerated within centuries.
Very good. However, I find puzzling the emphasis on "science doesn't know or can not disprove if there is a god". This is not the correct statement. The correct statement is that there is no evidence for god and therefore no reason to think it exists. Lack of evidence does not increase the probability of its existence.
AronRa, I love you. I have touted your series to pretty much every atheist I meet as a source of excellent arguments, but more importantly, I have encouraged several theist friends to watch it. I tell them they don't have to give up their god, just their inerrant Bible and you show them so beautifully why that is the case. In one of your videos you mentioned that the fundies are not worshiping god, they are worshiping the bible. That arguments hits hard with them.
@Evilanious Despite the fail that seems to be part 3, I think AronRA shouldn't have removed it. But left it up and pointed out what's wrong with it for those who don't know.
@Evilanious Tom Melchiorre realized that some of his speech was factually incorrect, so he requested that I pull that one. That's why there is no part 3.
@AronRa It's a pity about Tom not being happy with his output though. I've never seen, read or heard anything from him before, but I would assume, on the strength of the other 3 heads sat at that table, he would be generally worth hearing.
I will, of course, look him up, but what can you tell us about him?
@AronRa "Tom Melchiorre realized that some of his speech was factually incorrect, so he requested that I pull that one. That's why there is no part 3."
.
Can you see the tragic situational irony here, "Communicating Atheism" but part 3 gets taken down because .........Hey.........we don't want to communicate that nonsense.
AronRa, thank you SO MUCH for using my signature quote! I feel very proud to have helped spreading that meme, I hope it catches on! And you've actually posted this vid on my birthday, I could not have wished for a better present :-)
And let's thank the author of the quote: Kevin, whoever you are, thank you!
For those who want to know what I'm talking about, see ht tp://ww w.leagueofreason.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=114531#p114531
I'm not sure. In school the most effective way for me to listen to the teacher was to close my eyes and bury my head into my arms on the table. That being said, Dawkins seemed attentive to me.
Aron has an absolutely awesome way of structuring what he says to only gain ground, with no back and forth. He starts from the bottom and solidifies his arguement all the way up to a rock-solid conclusion. Well done as always Aron, it was really cool to hear you discuss your process a little bit. Excellent little phrase at the end there as well.
It's fun to move the progress bar around and watch Richard Dawkins dance as everyone else sits still. And he gets this quizzical/aghast expression when you explain your agnostic perspective.
We need a better platform for education. That platform can only arise through a change that effects how decisions are made in the system. Aka we don't need politics, we need science.
@DrownedInExile, yes. Apparently creationists who watched the series found that their brains began to hurt because they were unaccustomed to dealing with facts or thinking. ;)
Pretty much the same idea as my comment re: Skepchick, I agree with what he said entirely but I don't see that the bulk of what he said was really had to do with communicating atheism.
@pacogoatboy Fair points. Although Rebecca's talk could be regarded as meta-discussion about communicating. She didn't talk about communicating atheism, but about being a (certain type of) person trying to communicate atheism.
@DuhIdiot1 Indeed. I was looking for something that pertained to atheism in her talk as opposed to something common to virtually any online communication, though as you say, at least it did have to do with communication. Aron went the other way entirely and really only talked about atheism, with little or no reference to communicating it. All in all, it was not the best showing.
The ending was the cherry on top "Science doesn't know everything. Religion doesn't know anything". That should be said at the end of atheist conversations like when Christians say amen. :)
Please don't associate right-wing with religion. When you said "people on the board have been given donations by political right-wing persons", why did you not just say "people on the board have been given donations by religious persons"?
I am far right-wing, that doesn't mean I am religious, or even conservative for that matter.
@Ilikemustard That's correct. I'm far right myself, libertarian as well. But I am also an atheist.
I think the reason this prejudice exists is because most atheists are very liberal (left wing) and associate any conservative issue with that of religionists. I know plenty of religious bigots who are Democrats. I also know many Republicans that laugh at the "religious right." I also happen to think that many atheists substitute a god for BIG government. That is, government is god (Marxism).
Damn. Dawkins looks like he's either bored as fuck, he's above the people there because he has a Ph.D, or he's rude.

a dog is closer to a cat rather than a cow because they share a more recent common ancestor (miacids)
but a dog and walrus are both caniforms...so does that mean a dog is closer to a walrus rather than a cat?

He didn't believe in a personal God like Christians do, but he did believe science pointed to the existence of an all powerful and intelligent Creator!

Delusion is defined as a strongly held belief that is not supported by facts.
Sociopath is someone who lies and manipulates others so that others will treat them well, with no concern for the results of their actions on others.

When the country endorses theism (& it has) it makes kind patriotic atheists feel unwelcome.

duecepitbull 8 months ago
@duecepitbull I'm sorry, but that is absolutely incorrect. The US Constitution guarantees a separation of church and state. The only way to have freedom OF religion is if people that don't want it can have freedom FROM religion. This cannot happen if the government wrongly endorses a deity. If the government one day decided to change our slogan to "in Buddha we trust" and put that on our currency, it might make you see my point. Freedom of religion is precisely the opposite of what you stated.

What are the greatest fears these people are facing? Perhaps that could be another series.

Dawkins is at least known in his field to have credibility though not always sold on even his own opinion for as areas that deal with actual human biology. @DuhIdiot1 Indeed.
