  • Such a tasteful performance of one of Bert's best! Would you be able to post the lyrics? I've been dying to play this, but I just can't understand Bert with all his mumbling.

  • See how the golden bird tries to fly

He is so angry, beats his wings in vain.

and the brightest jewels upon his back

will not raise his head above the clouds

Unlike the tiny sparrow, wild and free

gathering small pieces to build his nest

for he has nothing yet he can fly

    anywhere beneath God's skies

  • And loudly the eagle cries his song of war

So piercing and shrill it strikes with fear

Among the shepherds dear gentle lambs

    caring nothing for his concert

And rarely the dragonfly doth grace the dawn,

dancing among the flowers of spring

his rainbow hues he hath/HAS hidden from view

for WANT to guard his precious wings

  • Very nice indeed Barry.

This one is taken from Bert's Rosemary lane Album (1971).

    Very nice work indeed, Thanks.

  • Thanks a lot. You can't go wrong with a Bert Jansch song. By the way, I am 54 too!

  • Lo prometido es deuda!!! Aqui me tienes!!!! I liked it so much, it's really inspiring, is as if you're on the top of a high Caledonian mountain, and just green and blue around you... great one!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great work of your fingers and voice. It is well balanced. Thanks for your playing.
