  • So THAT'S how you open the trunk!

  • I love my Taurus now.

  • I drive one of these.

  • Very safe car! The fact that my parents walked away from a 40mph crash involving a DUI driver and 2 other cars is a testament to this. Car may be totaled, and my parents may have whiplash, but it could have been much worse. I will always be a Ford driver.

  • the taurus does reasonably well

  • nissan is a shit, ford is better..... ok?

  • the Taurus was never discontinued, during the the time that the Five Hundred, Montego and Freestyle was being built in Chicago, the Taurus was being built in Atlanta, GA

  • Got a 02 SES, things built like a tank

  • this crash test scared me.I never been in a crash and I have really bad anxiety about crashes. :-( i heard this was a really really SAFE car from lots of sources so many people said they had crashes in this car and came out in great condition compared to what the would have in some other vehicles

  • did he die?

  • Wait. In the description. "the taurus was discontinued after 2006"? No. There was an 07 of the very same design, not to mention the 2010 that's available right now

Or maybe i'm just not understanding something?

  • @soulweaponry At one point the Taurus was outright discontinued.. but demand brought it back.

  • @soulweaponry the taurus was discontinued for about 6 months in 07 but alan mulally ordered the five hundred/montego/freestar to be renamed the Taurus, Sable and Taurus X for 08 and now to day its ford's flagship sedan in its sixth generation.

  • Why do these cars rust so easily, every taurus I see they have alot of rust, even mine. Is there a way to stop them from rusting so bad?

  • @nijobe1 where do you live ? are you by the ocean or snow?

  • @MSG685 I live in North Dakota. We get alot of snow.here.

  • @nijobe1 i bet its the salt on the road . you should get the undercoating on your next car.

  • i got a 96 and a 2000. great vehicles

  • i guess u should hide a body in that trunk and get into a crash lolzzz

  • the airbag deployed too late!

  • @sproutkitty Actually, thats a second gen airbag the dont deploy as fast

  • @Octonuke oh i see

  • i got a 03

  • I was driving an 2006 SE when I was broadsided by a Land Rover. Totaled the Land Rover and my Taurus. This happened 15 months ago. Only casualty inside the vehicle was a Double Cheeseburger meal and fruit punch from McDonalds.

Today, I drive a 2005 SE. Ford Taurus is the safest whale out there.

  • @MISTERDIPLOMATIC awwh... poor double cheeseburger ): J/K, just glad you're okay!

  • seems pretty safe

  • My car that I just received :O

  • man's hand & fingers !!!!!!

    thump up

  • Driver survives with minor injury.

  • uh-oh, grandma would be REALLY MAD!

  • One of the safest and most reliable cars ever made.

  • the airbag sure took its sweet old time

  • injuries: damage to cameras pride would be likely becaus the dummy flipped off the camera

  • LOOK AT HIS FINGER WTF!!

  • So this is how I will look if I crash, lol.

  • the airbag deploy a little late

  • Considering the model year for this car, Ford kinda got it right, even though it was a redesign from the past Taurus. Oh yeah those transmissions sucked, so nevermind

  • This is a really safe car!

  • lets allstate stand,... are you in good hands

  • Volvo is Ford...your an idiot.

  • @TheRunescapernerd volvo? lol pieces of shit every one of them, get a fucking education

  • Damn, not bad.

  • well volvo is make by ford anyways. and i just bought a 2000 taurus ses with 22kmi for 4400. it looks the same as the one in the video

  • Safe car! If it wasn't for this car I wouldn't have walked away from an accident.

  • teh same for my father in his 98 mecury sable

he was goin 80(it was a 70 zone) and some lady was haulin ass up the on ramp and cut another person off the both swerved and hit the concrette guard wall

and my father was in the left lane and was goin 80

he punched the brakes and wasnt slowin down enought so he grinded the wall to slow down to 62 and hit them both

    double t-bone

dad got outta the car on his own

not so much the other 2

  • @xxsheat Same here

  • Yeah but the volvo cost how much more? You still would walk away if you were in this Taurus for half the price of the volvo.

  • OK but if your talking about volvo 2009 cars they are expensive but they got more safety functions, they got expensive interior bla bla bla...But if your talkin about volvo old car like from 2000-2004 they are cheaper!

  • @fitz207 More like a quarter the price of the Volvo. ;-P

  • ilovenissan

Nissan is junk. This taurus did better than your Nissan did back in 2000.

  • cars have come a long way in the past 8 years, and i dont see nissan stocks tanking in the market right now.

  • Japan didn't have a recession either, so it shouldn't have. But it doesn't matter because who in the right mind would buy a nissan anyways? Jap cars suck.

  • is that so, if nissan is junk look up their crash tests for their 09 models... say.... the 09 maxima. i promise, you will be suprised

  • ok look up the 2008 taurus you will be surprised...also the 2010 will be a bit safer!!!

  • well the nissan almera, in the year 2000 was 1 and a 1/2 star rating from ncaps 40mph offset test, now which is better ford or nissan safety wise?? hmmm so hard NOT!!!

  • @fitz207 nissans arent all bad just because theyre japanese. theyre all made in america.

  • @fitz207 taurus is junk!p.o.s. car, dont even have a manal version!american fords are crap...the e.u. fords are the good ones!

  • @RnB123100 Don't really want a manual in a car like the Taurus. I prefer manuals in sports cars, not mid-size family cars. As far as the Taurus being "junk" well that's your opinion, but i still see plenty of them rolling down the road. And "junk cars" don't normally do this good on crash test. This is not Europe, European roads and driving conditions are different than ours. Our cars are made for our roads and European cars are made for European roads.

  • @fitz207 well i perfer manual all the way'..even if the car isnt fast it still helps in mpg and repair cost.and i conider it a bad cars since its mpg and power are both lowalso its fwd and i havent heard very good feedback from mechanics (im studieng to be one myself so i know quite a few mechanics)

  • Okay, I read the description.

  • Is this the same for an '03 Sable?

  • yup.

  • it did great ...

  • Very good results considering this design was really intoduced in 1996, the front sheetmetal and trunk were redesigned and the rear window from the Sable was used in the taurus. When introduced in 96 it was rated safer than the E class and equal to the S class Mercedes that is quite a feat for a (at the time) 17,000 car. Way better than the dodge intrepid and Chevy luminas, the way the door closed on the 96 taurus like a damn bank vault

  • the lumina got the highest rating from the iihs in the front offset. the 92, 96, 00 and 06 tauruses got the highest front offset ratings as well

  • @alexkvaskov yes but if you look the 92 taurus had a head injury so technically the lumina did better..... but still they all did very well

  • the airbag fires just a tad late, but a good performance, nevertheless.

  • I HOPE YOU DIE IN A JAP CAR

  • you won't. they are safe.

  • Ha! Represent!

  • I own a 2005 Taurus with side front seat air-bags, and you would think it would score a better side impace rating then the ones that didn't, nope. Still 3 out of 5 stars with them.

  • How can you call this BAD ?? This is a offset frontal impact test. The crumple zone did everything it was designed to do. Driver sustained minimal injuries and the cabin appears relatively intact. Compare other more expensive offset frontal impacts and see what you find. This is a great score for offset frontal impacts. Too bad Ford discontinued this platform.

  • how come in older modle cars the passenger airbag goes off?

  • They did not have occupant sensors yet.

  • I own a 2006 Ford Taurus a silver one not a station wason either im 20 years old and wprefer this car over a sports car i drive it to toronto all over and its roomy fast and reliable id suggest it to anyone...

  • Yah... but if we go into a global war, you can't get parts from Germany for your

Merecedes, or Japan for you Lexus. I think that American is still better, but we all have our own opinions. This Taurus IS safe, and, yes it matters now, look at how many are on the road, compared to, say, a Pontiac Aztek.

  • You think THIS is bad, check out the ones of GM's U-Body minivans.

  • Funny, comments here say it's so bad yet this car earned a top safety pick.

  • This is not even close compared to other cars/trucks. Ex: Dodge Neon,Ford F150. This car is safe compared to those cars. I was thinking about getting this car.

  • Not bad, considering its a sedan, not a truck. Imagine a truck- 'the Ford Taurus 25000- the most capable truck that will ever be built!' Ugh!

  • well, remember it's a wall that won't move an inch and then you're driving a truck which is almost by definition, heavier. So guess where all the weight from the impact is bouncing over... yup, your way.
