This is really cool, like how all the paths that objects are placed in are represented as tubes going horizontal or vertical depending upon the path, it takes a 16 year old game and gives it a whole new breath of fresh air.
Just a heads up if that is your website you can enable everything from the start making the game easily beatable within a few minutes dont know if it was on purpose if not its something to look into
Awesome use of voxels on Metroid, a good big game for voxel translation. It feels kind of disorienting, but this is a great version you made. The Brinstar music sounds odd with your filters. Anyway, this is a great game you made. The novel use of voxels is amazing.
Starxxon, I'm curious about the music. The Famicom has some pretty advanced hardware compared to the NES, and I'm sure a few tunes (and the SFX) are from that version, but I know that many others are not.
@Laserbryte Actually the NES has an extra sound channel compared to the Famicom. But Metroid was released in Japan on the Famicom Disk System, which does provide extra FM-synthesis channels.
I did use FDS sound effects in Metroid Cubed. And the music played when you start, get an item and in the title screen do use these extra channels. In Metroid Cubed you can hear a mix of both versions. The actual level music is the same in both version, but I applied some filters on the individual tracks.
Holy crap this would be SO FUCKING AWESOME if my browser didn't keep freezing up whenever I tried playing the game! Great job! 10 out of 10 if I was a critic!
Nintendo needs to look into this themselves. This could certainly add a whole new...er, DIMENTION, to the already fresh re-makes and additions to the franchise.
How does the "v" test visor work, is that implemented? I hit v and I'm not seeing anything.
Also, how do I make the world destructable? I don't know if this was a bug, but I was once playing the game and could literally blast every wall and object to pieces.
Ahh, of course forgot all about that demo. I knew the visor was experimental, but I thought it was available in some form, thanks for clearing that up!
One last question, how about the 3d map? I pressed alt in the menu but couldn't get it going. Am I missing something, or is that a future feature too?
It's the sound effect when you kill a "big" enemy in the Japanese version, which had different sound effects (using the extra sound hardware in the Famicom Disk System)
It's cool, but, I really see no point in it other than a fun little project... looks, like it'd be kinda hard from the strange angles and stuff... but it does look really good.
how about zero mission? that would be awesome!

The visor thing doesn't really work, that's why it was labelled "test".
The destructible terrain is available only in the "Metroid Cubed Rotation Demo". That's probably where you've seen it.

Ahh, of course forgot all about that demo. I knew the visor was experimental, but I thought it was available in some form, thanks for clearing that up!
