  • By the way, for those who prefer to listen to "real" Flamenco, I suggest you procure an old Sabicas or Paco CD featuring "traditional" Flamenco. Opining on McLaughlin and Di Meola for using a pick, or whatever inane reason, is simply vexatious at best.

  • John Mc Laughlin has no business playing with Paco de Lucia!!

    It cant stand it!!!!

  • american musicians cannot play flamenco, and saxon people cannot either. You need to have gypsy blood to play it.

  • @loombaron Paco de lucía is not gypsy, most of the best flamenco guitar players are not gypsy!!

  • Paco was born in Andalusia and most flamenco musicians too. They are gysies idiot.

  • @loombaron I repaet: PACO DE LUCIA IS NOT GYPSY, he was born in Andalucía but he is not gypsy, Camarón was gypsy, Tomatito too, but Paco de Lucía is not Gypsy, one thing is Andalusian people who live in Andalucía (Spain) and other thing are gypsy who lives in all around the world and all around Spain. Do you think al andalussians are gypsy?if you're an ignorant read somthing about it, it will be very good to your knowledge, soplapollas

  • but they all have gypsy soul and heart

  • 7:47 I love how Paco is doing the crazy picking without looking smiling, watching John losing his ass trying to follow, ahahah

  • @hdp26

John losing his ass trying to follow?!? That's not the impression I'm getting from this video. Only a musically benighted person or CHATBOT would make such a cretinous observation.

    /wiki/Chatterbot

  • @TheTranslator100

I really like all of your kind, the douche pretenders.

What does it say about you, when this bot can tell the differnce between: genious substantial quality and jerk digitation, soulfull architecture and pompous vacuity.

You sure have the criteria, excellence and moral authority to come by again and defecate one of those wise craps of yours.

John is a joke sitting beside Paco,

and all your trash talk won't change a thing about it.

Besides you discredited yourself far enough, but as i said before you can pretend you are...

  • I saw these guys when they toured Australia. It was the Perth Concert Hall and Steve Morse was the support (and awesome as well). For us non technicians who don't know the "rules" on how music "should" be played, there was just the sound of great musicians, in tune with each other and the audience...a memorable gig and I'm glad I was lucky enough to see it...

  • Dead guy trio: Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Django Reinhardt.

  • the best players!!!

  • i hate when people play flamenco style with a pick!!!!

  • @thenamesfrancisco You shouldn't hate music.

  • @SophiaLuigina4ever i didnt say i hate music i said i hate when people try to play flamenco with a pick it sounds like poop

  • @thenamesfrancisco

Well, there are certain picado lines that can be somewhat mimicked with a pick; especially the ones that are played on the higher frets, and to tell you the truth, I sometimes can't tell if it's John or Paco playing unless I look at the screen. However; I agree; it generally sounds lame when I see someone playing fake Flamenco with a pick OR fingers - especially fake Rasgueados and fake Golpes by banging the side of the guitar with the entire hand - cringe!

  • ¡JIMI HENDRIX NO SALVA A NADIE DEFINITIVAMENTE AL LADO DE ESTAS BESTIAS INSACIABLES MUSICALES

  • @chaturga13 Who said they were trying to play 'authentic' spanish guitar? The whole point of that coming together of musicians was to do something different.

  • Atención: extraterrestres tocando la guitarra.

  • 14 dislikes???? you suck at listening to music

  • The unison run at 2:11 was great!

  • out of tune

  • now i can die.

  • I have an Al Di Meola CD with these three playing on it, Great Guitar, but they are playing so fast, it sounds like they are racing to the end of the tune, Very funny.

  • OJALA LOS MUSICOS ACTUALES LOGREN FUCIONAR CON SABIDURIA ASI COMO LO HICIERON LOS TRE MARAVILLAS ,..DON PACO ,JOHN Y AL DI,.. Y DARNOS BUENA MUSICA

  • search youtube for a piece by a Chinese PiPa master called Swan, user hacona prepare to be blown away... in a different style and feel but you'll see where Flamenco finger style comes from.

  • stop bitching, Spain got their style of playing, the technique from the Chinese.

  • @XenoType008 I went and listened to the PiPa performance and liked it a lot but if you listen carefully he made quite a few mistakes. We forgive him for it and defer to a successful delivery of a wonderful composition. Comparing performances across genres is not a good thing IMO.

Do you have evidence to support your assertion the Spanish technique is derived from the chinese PiPa technique? I'm curious and want know.

  • Playing with a pick limits you in what you can do. No way he can do gypsy rumba with Golpes at the same time. But still amazing. But Paco does it all. The best in mainstream guitar.

  • the one and only G3

  • i watched them live and it was weird to see how paco completely outplayed the other two on every song... possibly the best guitar player ever, in any genre.

  • @mambise do you know from wich live this song is shared ?

  • amazing

  • paco only did this to pay the bills,,, trust me he'd never jamm with douches like these if he had the dosh.. trust me bout that.. am glad good times are back for Senor De lucia ... i wish him a healthy and long life ahead..

  • @PIYUSH1188 "paco only did this to pay the bills,,, trust me he'd never jamm with douches like these if he had the dosh"

Technique-wise, NOTHING beats Flamenco guitar, but harmonically, the possibilities for improvisation and chordal arrangements are far greater with John and Al, than Paco collaborating with other traditional Flamenco guitarists.

  • it's funny that they always make same impressions

john - sweet, paco - macho, al - pompous.

    seem like so different personalities.

i generally like music for what it is. don't think the very performers matter that much when it comes to beauty (whatever we see as that).

but situations like this make me suspect that communicative aspect of music (music as medium) may have some purpose other that distraction and it can bring some good after all.

  • JAJAJAJA DIOSSSS ESTO ES FABULOSO QUE PEDADO DE TECNICA TIENEN LOS 2 Y COMO SE RIE PACO EN EL MINUTO 6:03 JAJAJAJA FLIPA CON EL John Mc Laughlin LA VERDAD QUE SON 2 GRANDES GUITARRISTAS MUY BONITO 2 GENIOSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • amos ayá juanito!! min 4.34

  • why the fuck do people argue that hendrix was the best guitarist ever?

  • that's right, the guitar wasn't invented from spain.

  • Thanks for posting this. Great

  • que barbaridad!

  • excelente

  • 3 countries with the best guitar of the world

    Spain

    Brazil

    Russia

  • @arthasbr No.

  • @arthasbr Guthrie Govan and Allan Holdsworth are from England. Let's not be silly.

  • @RyanMilesGuitar man, im not talking about guitar players LOL, thats why I lol'd and gave you another chance to understand.... Talking about style... Spanish Guitar Style(Flamenco, Classic), Brazilian Guitar Style(Choro, Classic) etc... as far as I know, there's no English Guitar Style. And yet, you cited Electric Guitar Players, not Classic Guitar players, if you had writen about Julian Bream(British and Best Villa-Lobos Interpreter) I would keep my "mouth shut". But I forgive you :-)

  • @arthasbr I thought you meant players, not style. My bad! I just thought you ignorant with bad English... hahah. And don't forget the blues from the United States. I'm not going to say it's the best because there is no "best", but it's just so expressive.

  • @RyanMilesGuitar but I agree with about the players, I love Govan and Alex Hutchings, my favorites

    check this out :) watch?v=eZuETVzODME

  • super ....moij adore ca

  • Espanol: Espectacular ! - English: Spectacular !

  • This might sound funny but i think ,Paco, John, AL, all have naturally strong fingers, You can practice of course to get it, but having it naturally must be a bonus just like having talent.. Strong fingers become light touch?..

  • Paco speaks English so well? Incredible.

  • @matriosca74 He has been travelling around the world since he was 16...

  • i love how paco just.. PLAYS, and then never says a word(:

  • the funny thing is that, the guitar wasn't invented from spain!

  • @Natsumebankai torres in 1852 decided to make a larger body guitar which best resembles a classical of today. without him there would be no guitar it would be more similar to a lute. so in actuality spain revolutionized the guitar in a way that you could definately say that they invented the guitar. so really. spain invented the guitar

  • @Natsumebankai @Natsumebankai learn some instrumental history before talking of something you obviously dont have a clue about!

    Antonio_de_Torres_Jurado

  • @Natsumebankai it was invented by a spanish though

  • @Natsumebankai "invented IN spain" OR "comes FROM spain"... prepositions can be difficult to master. are you come in spain?

  • @Natsumebankai ohhh and maybe you can tell us where it's been invented. Let me think... maybe... nowhere!! and it's the result of a long evolution of string instruments imposible to be located in a place and a time.

  • @Natsumebankai That is not exactly correct. The guitar certainly evolved from other instruments such as the L'oud (Persian and Arabic) but the 6 string instrument tuned in 4ths with one Major 3rd interval between g and b, shaped like a woman was developed in Spain.

This shows how difficult it is to say where a thing is from, it is always more complicated than that.

  • @coco7010 you are very correct it came from many places but guitear is a spanish word , the spanish and portugesse have many many varieties of the guitar including a range from basso to sapprano.

thank u 4 letting me share keep comming back!

  • @coco7010 And the Iranian Tar

  • estos hombres no tienen sangre tienen compás!! GRANDEEES!

hilarious but I think John doesn't understand it

  • john mc laughlin kinda sounds like hannibal lector

  • Both guitarists are really greats: but only who play guitar can feel the difference. Paco is on another planet.

  • @1974romina

    niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiccee

  • @1974romina all three are great.

  • @1974romina you don't know anything..sorry..

  • the chord that Paco plays around like :06 looks painful xD

  • Music-wise, their work was useful to interchange visions of the improvisation with a guitar from three different backgrounds. Period. Do not look beyond: it was not based on composition. Also, they made a lot of money touring and marketing: they all opened new markets for their works. Having said that, there were interesting parts and others which were pure gymnastics. Paco tries to look for some melody more often, maybe. But to listen to his music, type Paco de Lucia 2010

  • lots of notes flying around, no feeling. this music tastes like nothing

  • @thedopemaster Ahh, another dickhead who only listens to one genre and dislike the other ones, simply because he is too simpleminded. How elegant.

  • @snakeweirdo you should consider the hypothesis that your assumption is premature. I am not only a listener but also a musician of several musical genres. All these musicians have composed or performed admirable pieces of music, but artistically speaking, they also have their weak points. Sometimes they are truly inspired, sometimes they are showing off or just making time. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Fair well

  • It's impressive to see that McLaughlin can play close enough to on par with Paco but with a flatpick!!

  • PASSION, GRACE AND FIRE

  • whats the name of the last song playing in the interview tv program?????????????????????

  • @Jose7Francisco I dont remember the title but im sure that its a track of their Passion, Grace and Fire album. I suggest also to listen Friday night in San Francisco.Great stuff

  • Paco's just toying with him like a cat that could take him at any time

  • @schenker4 Lol. That's too cruel, but the true is Paco looks always effortless looking here, smiling, looking at John, and his notes sound always clean, no matter how fast is the piece.

  • i swear John mclaughlin rides pacos dick so hard....he looks like an twin paco de lucia....at least al di meola has his own style

  • @ecuaagua20 John Mclaughlin plays a lot of different styles and genres, Paco reeeally only play one.

  • @snakeweirdo really?? Paco is flamenco player but he can play jazz, rock, blues, bossanova, etc everything because he is really guitar god !

  • 4:33

    "amo allá, Juanito" LOL

    ("Juanito" is "Jhonny" in spanish)

"amo allá, Juanito" = "Vamos allá, Juanito" = "Let´s go, Jhonny"

  • @ElAullidoDeLaNada

Thanks for the translation, really appreciate it.

  • @ElAullidoDeLaNada You´re welcome

  • i love mclaughlin and paco and even meola, but i have to ask is john gay? he has a queer lisp

  • @mrara john has been married to eve mclaughlin (a woman) for many years now.

  • Paco Looks Hot Here ;) WOOT GO AUSTRALIA!

  • grande grande

  • If you liked this, definitely check out the album "Friday Night In San Francisco" which features these same three guitarists performing at their collective best.

  • Flamenco-Jazz del güeno ole er paco y er huanito....AMO ALLÁ

  • Comment removed

  • Doesn't Paco look strange in this sleeveless T-shirt? Like some rock musician or something.. though the impression is quite good :)

  • Isn't a shame that these three guys were among the most skilled guitarists in the world, yet whenever they performed on TV, they were only featured at the end of the show when the credits rolled.

  • cannot stand mclaughlin.... seems like a nice dude but his playing makes me want to cut my head off

  • @lousparre what do you mean?

  • the guitars are having multiple orgasms

  • Paco + Electric Guitar = Metal God

  • holy lol what is paco wearing

(at 3:50 Paco verifies if the bad smell comes from his armpit.)

  • These two are brothers from anotha motha!!!!!!!!!!

  • paco t[á parecendo um playboy americano...kkkkkk!

  • mmm que brazos tiene Paco ^^

  • great dvd.

  • so fuckin' fast wow ! Great !

  • How can they put subtitles over something this amazing

  • whats the second song called?

  • @Pianoknijn the second song is called chiquito.

  • viva paco!!! viva españaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

  • @Mentalerenda Y HALA MADRID

  • Paco reminds us that the guitar was invented in Spain

  • @SHOJMPR42 Music is not a soccer game ... music has no nationality. it has culture. nations have no culture at all.

  • @SHOJMPR42 in spain by Arabian people

  • @ZioDjlan That is very true- also many techniques and music styles. After all this time it is still great music.

  • @SHOJMPR42 - Actually the earliest six string guitar was built in Naples, Italy by Gaetano Vinaccia in 1779 but I do get what you mean :)

  • @AlsatianCousin Naples was a part 45 years before that, and was dependent of Spain by then.

  • @SHOJMPR42 And it came to Spain with Moors (Arabic nation). A+ for the history (sarcasm).

  • @SHOJMPR42 You are talking bout the Torres Guitar which is only one instrument of the Guitar family. The Egyptians had a guitar 1700 BC long before the spanish people even heard about flamenco....

  • @FunkyDebob : Greeks, not Egytians. Even the word Guitar comes from "Kithara"= Guitar.

  • @door34 the Kithara is a greek guitar based on an Egyptian model. Oldest guitar like instruments were found in Egypt.

  • @SHOJMPR42 he doesn't use a pick either man and he's fast and articulate!

  • Wynton Marsalis publicly dismissed Davis' more recent fusion recordings as not being "'true' jazz", comments Davis initially shrugged off, calling Marsalis "a nice young man, only confused". This changed after Marsalis appeared, unannounced, onstage in the midst of a Davis performance. Marsalis whispered into Davis' ear that "someone" had told him to do so; Davis responded by ordering him off the stage. ( Wikipedia )

  • I wonder if John deliberately belittled Miles there, by calling Wynton Marsalis the greatest trumpetplayer, - not a smart carriére-move

  • @BongoBib I don't think so, but saying someone is "the greatest trumpet player we have today" (speaking in 1982) is meaningless, listen to his playing back then, there is no soul, he was just a kid with great technique. Miles could take a very simply melody and breath life into it, his life, quite an amazing life: what life had Wynton Marsalis led up to that point in time? They say in jazz about young players: "lots to say, but no story to tell". Marsalis became a bore in later life; QED.

  • lol ; " Al is now in Australia, which is good ! "

  • oh my! they re on fire!
