A common question not answered is,..how would adding 47 million into the healthcare not add a single dime in the deficit? Why would there not be rationing when no additional doctors added when 47 million of patients are added? Right now, Employers are cutting medical benefits to employees ,..this bill have not only worsen workers who still have jobs..but sunk them deeper into financial stress. President Obama's plan is simply missing a key ingredient. "Nurses". I would love to stay and work in the US. Although the greencard wait, causes a great deal of uncertainty. I am hoping that I can continue to contribute to America for a long time. It is great that the US wants to train more nurses, although that could take a while. Also, many nurses are retiring. Sounds like these nurses opposing health care reform work in affluent areas; how else could patients afford to pay hospital and surgical care out of their own pockets? As an RN in an economically depressed area, I see the real need for reform. Graduate nurses earn $12 to $15/hr. because hospitals' patient base is 75% Medicare/Medicaid. Unemployment is at 10% and most jobs are min. wage. The elderly can't afford needed medication. I hear lots of criticism but no intelligent ideas. Sad.

I am also a nurse. ANA does not represent my views at all. Of the approx. 2.9 million nurses only 180,000 are members. I support healthcare reform, just not the kind Obama is pushing. Let's start with tort reform.
I too am a nurse and agree that these women have not been real nurses in the real world for a very long time. I have been an operating room nurse for 25 years both in administration and in the trenches. I am currently back in the trenches. Once you get past a certain level in nursing you don't know what it really is like so I do not wish to be part of this group either.
As a nurse who has been working for over 30 years in our system, I do not want to be associated with this group of nurses. They have probably not been at a patient's bedside for years and probably could not function as a nurse. Why does the medical fees vary from state to state? My son had a kidney stone. I drove him to the hospital. His bill was close to 4K this is Naples Fl. Now he lives in New Mexico and found out the same procedure costs 2K.

My father paid into his insurance 40 years and only used it 3 times. In later years when he needed it on a persisting ailment they made him sign wavers his insurance didn't cover that aliment. You know insurance isn't a right he didn't have to pay for it. He chose to pay for insurance. Not only that this bill wont help, your father probably wouldn't get coverage under this bill at all. This bill will interduce many conditions. Healthcare will be rationed and we will be in debt.

Of course the private insurance companies will attempt to deny coverage. The difference is, with private insurance there is competition, therefore they have to regulate their denials. Also, apparently you don't understand that this bill will cost all of us a lot of money. Not just a few flat screen TVs. 1.5 trillion is the low estimate. This will not pay off in the end, source: Congressional Budget Office
I can assure you this, universal health care has worked in the UK, Europe, and Canada. Certainly such a bill will cost money, but like education which cost money too will be better for American families. My friend who had cancer is aware that he pays a little more taxes, but would not trade his system for US health care. Instead of being bankrupt from having cancer he is content with paying a little more. Trust me I rather pay a little more than going bankrupt and so does my Canadian friend.
I'm an American citizen, like most people here I'm content with getting faster coverage without conditions that could limit my ability to recieve help (which is what this bill would almost certainly do) Universal healthcare may work for those countries, but it has already been tried here and it failed. Actually this plan will cost everyone not just some CEOs. A low estimate of how much it will cost is over a trillion dollars. The highest predicted savings are close to 20 bil. The pricetag is still higher than the return. The Congressional Budget Office itself has said that the new healthcare system wont do what Obama says it will and we wont end up saving money. Not to mention the fact that many people will be taken off their private insurance plan to be put on a plan that rations healthcare.

Health care reform in Washington today isn't about health, or reform. It's about mandating monopoly-priced western medicine for the masses. It's about fining people who wisely opt out of the criminally-operated health insurance industry, and it's designed to keep the American people sick and diseased while emptying their pockets of any remaining earnings they might have somehow squirreled away during the ongoing financial / real estate crash.
When the draft became available I downloaded it and read it. I watched the Mark up secessions and recently downloaded the bill itself H.R. 3200. I've gone through the parts of the bill that effected me and gone back to find sections that have been sited on other sites and videos. The bill isn't what I would have wanted but it's not a bad bill and should be passed. It will help me and many others I know.
Will the House and Senate take on the same health care program that they are trying to ram down the throats of the American people? A common question not answered is,..how would adding 47 million into the healthcare not add a single dime in the deficit? Why would there not be rationing when no additional doctors added when 47 million of patients are added? Right now, Employers are cutting medical benefits to employees ,..this bill have not only worsen workers who still have jobs..but sunk them deeper into financial stress. Sounds like these nurses opposing health care reform work in affluent areas; how else could patients afford to pay hospital and surgical care out of their own pockets? As an RN in an economically depressed area, I see the real need for reform. Graduate nurses earn $12 to $15/hr. because hospitals' patient base is 75% Medicare/Medicaid. Unemployment is at 10% and most jobs are min. wage. The elderly can't afford needed medication. I hear lots of criticism but no intelligent ideas. Sad.

The old, the crippled, the terminally ill will be given pain medication only (my brother who was suffering from CA, when his insurance alotment ran out, they simply stopped treatment and put him on methodone, overdosed him and he was dead 2 days later). Don't tell me it wasn't an OD, he was eating and walking , talking getting better and then the nurse gave him this med, and if it wasn't OD why did the ER give him Narcan?

@reginaDexan Pain management requires special training.Over doses can happen.Sometimes the doctors give orders increase morphine drip until pain ceases.If you can't handle this, don't treat the terminal.These orders are verbal in most cases.I am sorry for your loss.Health reform did not happen yet.Medicine is not an exact science.Money usally has nothing to do it.Cancer in some cases.,can kill fast. I have been an operating room nurse for 25 years both in administration and in the trenches. I am currently back in the trenches. Once you get past a certain level in nursing you don't know what it really is like so I do not wish to be part of this group either.

Its working for me fine. I making 60k a year at 20 years old I am a 1st class petty officer who busted my ass ever sense I was 17 years old in the miltary. I don't think we need any reform for healthcare. I don't want my health insurance being fucked up because of lazy ass people don't want to go to college and get a good job. I really don't think this would affect your cost. The plan is the more people put into a program, the less the premium cost should be. Not More.

The biggest problem that I see with this healthcare bill is that there's no tort or malpractice reform. The reason that premiums are rising, and the reason the AMA isn't on board with this is because the bill offers them no protection from the trash of society filing suit after suit in order to get a free payday.

I know a girl from Cuba and of course Cubans are under political asylum. She works at one of the retail giant stores. Even thought she has insurance taken from her check; it was cheaper for her to travel to Cuba and have an operation she needed and come back to America.
Why does the medical fees vary from state to state? My son had a kidney stone. I drove him to the hospital. His bill was close to 4K this is Naples Fl. Now he lives in New Mexico and found out the same procedure costs 2K.

My father paid into his insurance 40 years and only used it 3 times. In later years when he needed it on a persisting ailment they made him sign wavers his insurance didn't cover that aliment. Of course the private insurance companies will attempt to deny coverage. The difference is, with private insurance there is competition, therefore they have to regulate their denials. I'm not saying there is nothing to change in our healthcare system, but bankrupting our country for rationed healthcare won't help. There are some people without healthcare, but the number of people who absolutely can not have healthcare is a lot smaller than 46 mil. I can assure you this, universal health care has worked in the UK, Europe, and Canada. Certainly such a bill will cost money, but like education which cost money too will be better for American families. My friend who had cancer is aware that he pays a little more taxes, but would not trade his system for US health care. Actually this plan will cost everyone not just some CEOs. A low estimate of how much it will cost is over a trillion dollars. The highest predicted savings are close to 20 bil. The pricetag is still higher than the return. The Congressional Budget Office itself has said that the new healthcare system wont do what Obama says it will and we wont end up saving money. Not to mention the fact that many people will be taken off their private insurance plan to be put on a plan that rations healthcare.

I've gone through the parts of the bill that effected me and gone back to find sections that have been sited on other sites and videos.
