  • Yeah, apparently his voice wasn't very interesting but I would give anything to hear him.

  • The voice is James Earl Johns...not a mystery

  • @bcgirl427 NO. That is NOT James Earl Jones's voice. Not at all.

  • Lincoln had a high, squeaky, voice

  • @defectueux but he appears like he had a deep voice

  • great voice!

  • It shure sounds like Tennessee Ernie Ford to me

  • well....it's close but no cigar

  • ITS CHUCK NORRIS!!!!!!!!

  • I'm not convinced that this is Lincoln's voice. A number of journalists, writing for magazines and newspapers of the period, described Lincoln's voice as "a tenor", "rather high, but clear and easy to understand, and it carries well." This video would have us believe that it was a deep baritone, almost a bass.

  • i believe this is the actor that played in the movie DAVE

  • James Earl Jones voice is much too deep for this recitation.

  • I thought Lincoln was described as having a high pitched voice.

  • yea he had a disease much like the opposite of dwarfism, so idk why they have a deep voice for him here lol

  • AWESOME VID

  • love your A for effort!!!

  • james earl jones. aka darth vader.

  • lincoln did not have a deep voice

  • That's true, and if I recall correctly his voice was actually described as being very high-pitched and nasally.

  • was his birthday 5 days ago aswell...just to say :)

  • i just went and saw the Akron symphony play this on feb. 12th w/ my schools 7th&8th grade band it was fabo :D

  • That is James Earl Jones.

  • Sorry, this is not James Earl Jones (I know it sounds like him). This is actually my friend's father Richard Reid with the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra.

  • Wow...that is really something. I even have the James Earl Jones version of this song and thought it was the same.

  • For some reason, because of the mic-ing and orchestration it sounds as if it's from a performance by the U.S. Army or other military band. Dennis

  • it probably was... The "Lincoln Portrait" was composed, and the words to use from Lincoln by the composer Aaron Copeland...or a name similar to that haha...

It was used for many political and military events up until the cold war when the composer was suspected of having communist ties .However, over time it came back, and in fact, was used for the the inaugeration of Obama, narrated this time by Tom Hanks. Personally I'd like to hear it said by james earl jones or morgan freeman

  • OBAMA

  • lincolns voice was said to have been high pitched.

  • SOmething like "mee mee mee mee!"?

  • your a doucjebag disease?
