Thanks for the upload fatal and thanks for the game by game stats. Wow, Bird poured in more than 30 points in four of the 7 games and look at the assists and boards! The famous Rodman statement was also made right after game 7 and the Pistons were eliminated - not defending Rodman - he was a jerk, sore loser, and jealous of Bird's talents. Just shows why microphones shouldn't be put in front of athletes that have just lost or performed badly. Not everyone can think clearly and remain unbiased.
The unfairness of the LA /BOS rivalry was this: Boston had to slug their way past physical teams like Philly, NY, Milwaukee and Detroit. "The problem with our rivalry is that the Lakers could be out there playing at 80% and still get to the finals, but we had to bang & scratch & beat our way to get there" Bird said. "It was just a fact the East was stronger & more physical, we were taking a huge beating on our way to the finals and the Lakers were just sitting back, waiting for us to arrive."
@DrmrGuy1979 Sichting was a knockdown mid-range shooter, but his defense was a little suspect compared to Ainge. The next year they would get Reggie Lewis, but KC for some insane reason, gave him no minutes at all. Bird ended up playing 39 minutes per game in the regular season and a mind-blowing 44.88 minutes per game in the playoffs. KC was notorious for running his starters into the ground.
what were his gamelogs from this series? I know he had a 37-9-9 or something like that in game 7, but idk about some of the other games. any help fatal?
@flight23magic32 Two of the silliest statements ever. Larry Bird was awesome. I hated the Celtics, but I respected their teamwork and especially Larry Legend's hustle and ability.
@jeditwinz Yeah! Then they asked Magic about it...and he knew that Isiah and Rodman had said something incredibly stupid! Magic knows firsthand how ridiculously good Larry legend was...and Larry ended very beautifully this stupidity by saying "I knew right off the bat these statements didn't come from his heart, they came from his mouth"...
@terrorofsesameST as much as I love Rodman, he has no business, as a player who had a great year if he cracked 60 percent from the charity stripe, making judgments about the abilities of players who could actually, you know, score points
Fred Roberts, no wonder Bird had to play 40 minutes a game that year. Keep in mind this was a beat up Celtics team or this series would not have been close.
@MerkinMuffly next year was even worse . they got marc acres , an old and rusty artis gilmore , BRAD LOHAUS and dirk minifield . how did they manage to get to the ECF ??? simple answer : the celitic starting lineup had play most of time while the whole " green " team was full with bench warmers lol

@nikos007333 Yeah, KC Jones was famous for driving his starters into the ground, probably didn't have a choice, but still.
