@ThisIsAweshum Star Ocean Second Story was made by Enix. Before Square and Enix became one company. But I have both games and Star Ocean music don't sound like Final Fantasy 6. Hes just stupid.
I think I know what the problem with this review is. This guy uses objective terminology to make his points sound like a matter of fact rather than opinion. For instance, he says "The Music... is clearly a rip off of Final Fantasy VI." while I personally can't make any "clear" connection to FF in the song he showcased. Other lines state that you HAVE to do this otherwise the game sucks, this IS what's wrong with the game. And it's obvious that others have different opinions.
You ever notice that this guy always has the same problem with RPG's? Too many battles, too much dialogue, too many menus... and he claims to love RPG's? Umm... I'm not sure your thinking of the same genre that I'm thinking of >_>
It´s weird, the first Star Ocean was like ahead of its time graphically on the SNES (or Super Famicom really since it only came out in Japan) and it had voice acting for which they needed quite a few tricks for (just like Tales of Phantasia) the SNES to be able to reprodce it.
All the other ones graphically are outdated for their times...it´s weird...
This guy obviously didn't even try at all if he ran from that many fights. Like any rpg you need to spend a few hrs fighting fighting. You can easily level up to 20 in the first 2 hours especially with Claude. This game is HANDS DOWN the best action-rpg. (meaning it's more like Zelda than Final Fantasy) When you've played through it you can play it again as an alternate character and story. A L33T hidden dungeon that you need to be a god to conquer If you haven't, play it again poster.
STUPID REVIEW! man just want to shove sumthing in his face! STAR OCEAN 2 IS TIGHT STORYLINE IS TIGHT AND BATTALE ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT STUFF!!! ITS FUN and i didnt run into much battles! stupid review should have never been said! STO2 is Tight nigguh!
Flee from battles?! Well, yeah, if you Gamesharked to level 255 on Disc 1 and want to do a speed run. (Note Rena and Ashton's health at 9999 on the ship before the main goal of disc 1 at 0:40)
Too much dialog?! HAVING A GOOD STORYLINE IS TOO MUCH?!
Too slow message speed?! INSTANTANIOUS?! SERIOUSLY?!
Does he not realize there's both an item and 2 specialty commands to stop those encounters?
The remake is a Square enix game. The orginal was enix or w/e alone. Later down the line the two merged into one company. Though I agree and still don't see how this is a ff6 rip off as alot of music may sound similar. But its never really the same. ;x
(And to think, I -just- finished playing through the PSP remake of this game, last night...oh man. Whoever wrote this crap needs to be shot. If George Woods...that was his name, right?...really was just reading a script, not writing any of it, I actually DO feel bad for him.)
I played the crap out of this game. At the time I loved that you could spend extra time fighting battles to level up and I created lots of stuff until I got something useful. The cooking parts and the plot itself are much more fun to me than any FF.
i hate how you talk shit about good games...

I will agree that a lot of the dialog is very slow, or has terrible grammar, such as:
'Welcome! None of the items available are unavailable.'
The battle system is fun and fast paced, and the customization keeps the game interesting.

This guy sure is impatient. He doesn't have time for random battles, and he thinks the text speed is too slow.
