  • Is that dave mustaine? 2:35

  • Stones, Lizzy... Wish I would have been a little older to enjoy them, when they were all around.

  • Phil Lynott, I love you. Once upon a time theese guys were the kings, today it's just computer generated bullcrap. I tip my hat for thin lizzy.

  • best live band ever

  • It's classic 'cause that's when good writing met good playing. The rest is shitstory.

  • Better live than in the studio, they were brilliant live, best show i ever saw

  • I just love Thin lizzy! (1969-1983-4) RIP Phil, you were the best!

  • This is a medley of our hit !

  • da do da la da da. da do da la da da. da do da la da da da da da.

  • we lost phil early in 1985

  • Classic!

  • Phil, one in a million.

  • The boys are back

  • The Boys are back....Nuff said

  • In my opinion, True music, not the crap of today(danche/house/techno)

  • Fuck yah Phil,Was a rocker...

  • @ caotiancomputa "you can't argue with where a man was born" Citizenship by place of birth is one thing but descent and heritage is somthing else. No matter what you think and you are entitled to your opinion, Phil considered himself an Irishman and all his friends and fellow musicians would probably tell you the same. I'm sure you would fare well if Phil was alive and you had the oppurtunity to tell him "hey you are English because you were born there", think about that

  • Not hard to take bro, you can be American whereever you are from or born but someone could be Mexican (heritage) and born here in the USA and still be American. Now I am not into all the politically correct blank - american labels but its the only country like that. Phil was Irish born in England, okay I got that, but he was Irish descent and was raised in Ireland and formed his band with other Irishmen, his songs, "the "dubliners" etc. He ws not an Englishman just by his birth, get over it.

  • @TheLowerider wise words my friend XD

  • MUSTACHPOWER with Drugs! Im not drunk im smashed! im not ''drug-addict'' Im Playing while saying FUCK ! Philip Lynott! The Man with heart of Of Dublin! and Rock on Lizzy! Rip Lynott!

  • I know its hard to take'but you can't argue with where a man was born its a fact, get over it,i'm not having a go i'm half Irish myself.

  • The boys are back in town... get your knickers down. Brilliant, only Phil could say that with such charisma.

  • I love this video and song. It has a great sound.

  • anybody have any idea on what bass phil is playing?

  • I don't mean to upset anyone but Phil's actually English, check it out

  • @captaincomputa - born in England sure, but of Irish mother and was sent to his homeland of Ireland at age 4 where he grew up. cuimhnigh i gconai, Phil

  • @captaincomputa No,... no..... , no....., no and no....... you didnt upset anyone but no, he was Irish, and the whole friggin band (in the beginning years) was Irish exept for the wonderful but underated guitarist Scott (USA) Gorham. But, Brian Downey, Eric Bell, Brian Robertson, Gary Moore (R.I.P) yeah, Irish....like Phil, who was also IRISH, now you check that out..

  • @TheLowerider I know its hard to take, but you can't argue with where he was born, its a fact, get over it,i'm not having a go i'm half Irish myself.

  • 25 years ago Ireland lost a real treasure ! Long live Phil...........

  • @raheenboy ... what happened to him.. and what is a black plectrum? if you don't mind me asking..

  • @Starlitblond A plectrum is the little piece of plastic you play the guitar with also know as a pick.

  • @raheenboy .. . wow.. I had no idea! thanks!!

  • Remember when this song came out in 76" ? It rocks then as it does today....

  • Also like to add to the comments here. Bout the song being about a english gang out of jail. NO NO and antother relating 2 usa. NO NO. its a irish thing. ginos bar was in dublin. and he was takling bout rival gangs in dublin fighting outside chippers. happend at lot in 70s and 80s in dublin.. and irish here knows wat im talking about. rip phil. never forgotten.

  • @Kcufmalsi nope man. im irish and rember him around. Phil was always loved ere.

  • Looks like Phil smoked some good reef!!!

  • this band is way better than people give it credit, and people give it alot of credit already, not many bands can make thetre shows full of energy and sound great

  • "THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN!"

  • This dude was pretty fucking awesome and it says a lot when a band playing live sounds like the studio recording.....

And how fucking hard it must have been for a black guy growing up in Ireland. These YouTube videos are priceless. Allows a whole new generation of people to see what talent really is.

  • They had, among others "Jailbreak" and "Cowboy Song".

  • yes. tons. they are one of the greatest rock bands ever! listen to the jailbreak, bad reputation, black rose, live and dangerous albums just to get you started! hahaha

  • Emerald,Cold Sweat,China Town,Whiskey in the jar (covered by Metallica)

  • @kellykinsel

    jailbreak!!!

  • This song was WAY ahead of it's time...It's musicianship, the writing, the arrangement blows anything out there today right out of this galaxy. Especially most of the EMO crap that's popular these days....Long live King Phillip! The King of the rock bass!

  • @bebowilliams look at the way the crowd go when they kick it off - beautiful.

  • its either that or marines coming back from vietnam this song wasn't going to make the album but the managerment team said put it on the cd because it will be a big hit

  • RIP Phil Lynott. You brought the pride of Ireland. THin Lizzy rules all!!!!!!!!

  • Truly amazing.

  • Then right after this song I like to listen to There's going to be a breakout.

  • this is one of the songs that, if you don't know who the band is, you still know the song and when you see them, you think "Oh!"

  • Too bad that Phil died of drugs ! He is in our hearts forever !

  • Incredible Classic Rock Band! Making dual guitars and a bass both Rock & Roll so smoothly and quickly in perfect synch was never done before nor since.

This band & song paved the way for anything later called Heavy Metal.

  • Great band.

  • Can somebody write me what Phil says before the song...public seemed to enjoy !

    A frenchy

  • maintenant, nous allons jouer des vieux chansons. un melange de nos tubes. C'est un chanson qui s'appelle 'the boys are back in town.' mon francais est pathetique.

  • Hey, thanks for this quick feedback. And thanx for your french (not so pathetic) translation effort...I do appreciate.

    Cheers

  • omg...

    that is fucking great!!!

  • somebody has the tablature song and letter

    thanks

  • this is great, but you should see this vid on our page called ''The Doing it dog. . . . . . must see"

    now that dog can howl

  • i saw this on vhi classic great band

  • If you like it. You can pick up Live and Dangerous on DVD. It has this concert as a bonus. Its awesome. I love it and I love Thin Lizzy!

  • I need to replace my copy of live and dangerous I wore the shit outa it drivin in my car

  • god bless you phil

  • darren wharton on keyboards first played on the black rose tour 1979 or sometime around then. it was a wild time .rip phil many treasured memories of lizzy gigs

  • Yesterday I was a Kid, today I'm old and gray. But that's okay, I'll take it head on to have been around back then. The 70's were Magik a once in a lifetime event.

  • not quite sure how thin lizzy came about getting a keyboardist, but damn they sound good

  • What was the reason for his passing? Was he in a car accident or what, ive heard all kinds of stuff,I would like to know the truth?Could someone please respond and let me know.

  • his liver and kidneys failed due to alcohol and drug abuse

  • I saw Phil's statue in Dublin when I was there recently - 23 years since he died, unbelievable. The music doesn't seem to age - Thin Lizzy remain one of my all-time favourite bands.

  • man, too bad he died. they would have made many many more great songs!!!

  • they disbanded and he started a new band buuuuut then he died

im sure there would of been more hits if he had lived buuut not with thin lizzy or as thin lizzy

  • you cant compare guitarists from this era because they pretty much paved the way for all the new guitarists

coz jimi and phil are most guitarists idols

fucking love thin lizzy amazing band

  • I saw these guys back in 1978.. still have one of their picks they through into the audience. Lucky me.

  • hey the boys are really are back in town today

  • THE BOOYS ARE BACK IN TOOWN

  • Found the Jailbreak album behind the lockers in 7th grade(1979)and I still have it, one of my favorites still. Long Live Phil, thanks for the music!

  • I didn't say that he was like Jimi... but fair point, there IS metal influence there somewhere, but Lizzy by no means were a metal band until Thunder and Lightning, and even then I would still class them as Hard Rock.

  • Is John Sykes on the left guitar?

  • I wouldn't say Phil play's metal. One heavy album doesn't constitute to him being metal. But there is no need to compare Philly to anyone... you wouldn't compare Jimi to anyone else! Phil has his own genius... and he was awesomely cool too. To quote the man himself... 'If you see him tell him I think he's a cunt!'. I know that quote isn't relevant, but it's pretty cool.

  • GUESS WHO JUST GOT BACK TODAY!!

  • Who ???

  • Also Les Claypool.

  • agreed
