Did you not watch this video? I'm pretty sure they said at 1:03 that they wanted this helio to work for search and rescue missions as well as private transport. What good is a fucking helicopter when you can't rappel from it while hovering because of the stupid fucking rotor blades near the the hatch? Helicopters were created for fast extraction and insertions while in flight. The down and foward draft will ruin your day for anyone opening that door while in flight.
@YuDumPhuck, Concept*. Technology is what they are using, the knowledge is Concept. I'm fairly certain the technology would have already been Patented, it would take a fool to not.
I don't think this is a viable project... its dangerous, on the test flight you can see the tail and wings shaking due to the turbulence created by the angle the rotors are one perpendicular to each other... add to that speed (more turbulence) the forces applied while on flight at full speed, maneuvering... etc... good proof of concept maybe... but not viable at large scale.
Do you have that in Russia it is? America at Sikorsky X 2, X 3 in Europe and you have the helicopters of the 20th century? you have outdated technology! ВОДКА вы любить водка? меняйте приоритеты либо Россия развалиться в ближайшем будущем!
The hardest thing for all these manufacturers is making all their projects financially viable. No doubt their designers have fantastic designs for new aircraft however you need to find enough people to buy them. Which is tuff. What I'd like to see is a production version of the darpa flying disc concept with a couple of turbo fans strapped to it, now that would be cool. Retractable rotorblades and a top speed circa Mach 1....go on Boeing build one......
These aircraft are super however i have a few issues. First, I thought (may be wrong) that the limiting factor to a rotar winged aircraft top speed was the velocity of the leading tip of the rotor blade as it advances forward on 1 full cycle as well as the difference in velocity between the rotors as it swings round the front of the aircraft then its travelling in the opposite direction. Think the technical term is flutter. Both the 609 and V-22 are a superior design however far more expensive
@citanon It may be fast but the rotors are not a good idea. How do you get out of an aircraft with the rotors so close: helicopters are not like planes where you have to wait for the blades to stop unless they have mounted a special device that stops the rotors immediately when the chopper touches ground. What about search and rescue, do they have to land the chopper on the water to stop the rotors from turning the rescuers into a bloody mashed potatoes? Lol
@citanon The props are well behind and outboard of the fuselage and doors. People have been working around running helicopters and prop aircraft for years with only a few of the most careless being injured. Anyone outside this craft while running will, hopefully, be intelligent enough to be aware of the dangers involved.
I don't know but I've been told, Old Frank Robison Has more sold! He sells more helicopters in a month than others in a year. Enjoy your retirment Frank.
06:31 look at the wing vibrate! They have some serious vibration issues there! Tail is doing it too! Nice Idea but I bet the torque of those outboard engines gives a real fun ride! Hope they get that worked out or you're going to have shaken not stirred passengers!
@JohnnyKanuk I agree on the vibration, however, there aren't engines in the cowling behind the props. You can see that those are coolers for those gearboxes. I bet the vibration issue could be resolved in a track and balance. Maybe they could have talked the money hungry bigwigs to wait a couple test flights before making a commercial. F-ing suits. Without us, they'd be broke anyway. ENGINEERS RULE!!!

to all morons, claiming its not safe:
is it allowed to step out of the doors at ANY normal passenger plane while the turbines or props are still running????
NO!
so stfu

How is this at all practical? Anyone stepping out of the door run the risk of being turned into minced meat by the twin propellers.

Actually it's not the fastest. That goes to the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey.
It's over 100 Km/h faster. It does this by converting fully into an airplane at speed and then converts into a helicopter in-flight to hover or land.
Nice helicopter, but not the fastest.
I don't know what the their helicopter costs, but the osprey is expensive at 67 million USD per unit.
Karmashock 1 year ago
@Karmashock they're actually making a smaller commercial version of the osprey right now, i forget the name, but it looks amazing!
