Judy Collins has long been one of my favorite artists, but she does for "City of New Orleans" (this version anyway) what Frank Sinatra did for "Mrs. Robinson.
Thank you for posting!!!!! What a fabulous performance by the lovely and gracious Judy Collins!!! Love the studio version, too; how fun to see her live!!!!
Judy COLLINS chante cette version superbement! Une voix magnifique, de la classe et belle performance à 60 ans dépassés. Grand BRAVO Judy!!!! MERCI!!!!!!
Goodman wrote it and you have to respect it. Collins' screechy ending isn't great. But her soaring voice brings music to a song that basically has none.
One of Judy Collins' greatest hits, first appearing on her famous "Judith" album. I've always enjoyed her version and especially this beautiful performance. Thanks for posting!

I like Arlo Guthrie & Steve Goodman's versions better. Judy's all over the place here; adds too much embellishment that just weakens it.

@spatiotemporal You're absolutely right. You oughta make arrangements to take Judy's place the next time she needs to sing it.

Great song and great performance. I've been
listening to Judy for about half a century.
She still sounds great and looks happy and
healthy.
