  • I was just reading about the mutoscope, invented in the 1890s. These

    penny arcade machines were still around when I was a kid over half a

    century ago. I think the price had been upped to a nickle.

    The most famous title was "What the butler saw". It's here on

    Youtube.

    Saw a mutoscope post card for sale on the net. It's a cartoon

    bathing beauty. Art work looks like it was made in the 40s or 50s.

    Price is $650. Seems like a lot unless some celebrity handled it.

  • Believe it or not., these kind of "movies" were very popular in "penny arcades" during the early years of the 20th Century (for one penny, how could you NOT enjoy them?).
