ah, the velvet underground... most overrated, talentless group of pretentious, ultra-white, artsy-fartsy poseur, media slut, anti-musical cunts to ever walk the earth. these wastes of flesh & organs oughtta been scalded by their own instruments upon touching them... & that uberfag warhol, zzzzeeeeeeerrro talent, an early media cunt bending over for the scoop-hungry fashionistas of the 60's media. vu & their scarecrow named lou are as lucky & talentless as miley & billy ray cyrus.
@DirkjeA selling means diddly (bo) to me. i care about having a pleasent listening experience (give or take) when taking in audio art, or what is supposed to be...vanilla ice sold records, lots of em', so your point is as effective as hairspray in a hurricane. back to rock, nickleback are millionaires due to record sales, do they make quality rock? ummm, no. vu's music is like a 2yr old doodling on a canvas & it gets sold by pretentious newyorkers to the same type of folks for millions.
@DirkjeA the music that i create complements the work of other artists, i'm a cinematic composer. the music that i listen to stimulates my mind & heart. the music made by vu is a lost teenager whining & arguing for the purposes of being noticed. pathetic attempt at fitting in by sticking out. yuck. & i think you know it.
@jdbankshot Well it all comes down to a matter of taste does not it? What you say about Nickelbag stands ofcourse, and yes, million sellings is not always a prove of quality. I do like certain songs of VU, specially from their album White Light White Heat, which i grew up with, and yes, John Cale is like a spoiled prat, but he was not the only member. ( the time with Nico I didnot like either), and songs like Candy says and Pale blue eyes always did something for me.....
@DirkjeA fair enough, well put. i just always believed that rocknroll would still have been a force to be reckoned with even if the vu had never existed, whereas some find them more precious than gold. shit, reed himself admits that they were young poseurs & that they didn't know how to play. not the lou reed of the past 30yrs...
@jdbankshot As I said there r some songs of VU I really love, but that has more to do with my own Memory Lane than with their quality, I think. I am sure that musicians like for instance my all time fav. Rory Gallagher would have always been great, whether vu was there or not. Same goes for Thin Lizzy or other great bands and musicians. No, vu was not that influential as was Rory for others, but hey, with me vu has a soft spot. thanks for your understanding.
@DirkjeA ooooohhh, daaaammmn... look at me gettin' smacked & put in my place... ; ) i saw the dirk & just assumed, you know.... damn! glad to hear you gagag at the 'lady' as well. fuck, meez blushin' for real... i thought i was goin at it with a dude...don't really know if knowledge of the contrary would've altered my tone, but i guess so, judging by my reaction so far. oh, shit, here comes the guy... so, what other music do you like?
@jdbankshot ;-) You couldn't have known and you are really not the first one on YT that makes the bro/sis mix up. and btw your tone was never disrespectful. In Holland we have this custom to put the "je" behind a name for a woman so Dirk is a boy and Dirkje is a girl, see? I am fond of all kinds of music but particular of Rory Gallagher, Thin Lizzy, Gary Moore, UFO, Tom Waits, and lost more... as long as it touches my heart, it must be great. Have fun this weekend and stay safe.
@DirkjeA hmmm, dutch, yes. cool...waits kicks some serious ass. i love shore leave, it's so visual, like most of his work. i just bumped into leonard cohen last week (we're both from montreal) that was an experience, to say the least. very nice man. same here with the heart-touching, when it comes to music. i highly recommend the newest album by the red hot chili peppers, titled 'i'm with you'.... in case you know neils feijen and nick van den berg, tell em' i'm coming. (billiard humour)
I remember seeing these on PBS (had the Punk installment recorded on VHS) when they first aired. Up till today I've been on a fruitless search for them. Long story short...thank you SO MUCH for uploading these!
All these acts are following artuad and Brecht....either instictivley of overtly...so they are always " more than you expect" when confronted with them as an audience member...the effect is these no velvet rope between you and them...so they cant be compaired to pedestrian sort of acts...and this isthe stupidity weve had to bear with a good deal of the writers, them;insisting a comparson is due..........

@TheJabberwock Just saw a documentary about art and the art market in New York in the 60tees and 70tees. The English art collector said he never met a more stupid and boring figure, with nothing to tell the ppl than Andy Warhol, and you know what, I believed him immediately....lol
