You just don't get these kind of TV personalities any more - wacky, eccentric geniuses who learned their trade in old school music hall, theatre, cabaret or the early years of TV. The last of them would probably be the Krankies or Rolf Harris.
A sad day for British light-entertainment. He was a unique entertainer who carved his way into the hearts and minds of a generation of children. Me included!
