successfully connect and share xp from win7 but in xp, wind7 shows in word group computers, but cannot connect, shows administrator rights required, please help
Hey nice video!!!For everyone how has a problem to get things going after you follow the instructions on this video, then on the XP computer go to my computer (look at the left off the screen) and click Set Up Home or Small office network follow the wizard and type exactly the WorkGroup name you have used in the win 7 computer. Boom done it works fine!!!
I previously set up Windows Media Player from my XP desktop to share media files with Playstation 3. Every tutorial for sharing XP and Windows 7 files has failed. Is is because of the file sharing between windows media player XP and Playstation 3? If so, how do I resolve this situation?
thanks for this, has helped a lot. just a question because its getting used over a WiFi network. does this use any of your monthly download usage? cheers
A very BIG THANK YOU to you Madam! It really was effective and it worked very well. One of my computer was running Win Vista and the other Win 7 and becoz of your lovely video I was able to connect it. The few others that I saw were all kind of amateurish! Thanks again!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. im just wondering one thing can i do this with both PCs running 7 and do both have to be on in order to do the file share or can one be on sleep and when I'm working on my laptop on a different connection like if my desktop was running on my home and i was at school using my laptop can i do this or will it tell me other wise
I did all of this but I wanted to turn on the password protected sharing in windows 7 and when I access the windows 7 computer from the win xp computer it gives me an error massage, I just want to enter the password on the xp computer
You made it so simple! It's kinda sad that there's 1000 other videos and blogs that TRY to help solve this problem and don't even include the most basic of instructions!
One thing I had to do extra on the XP Machine I could see the Public Folders no problem from XP to Win 7 and see the original Win 7 files that came with it what I couldn't see was files I put in nor any of my personal files or folders I had to go to Computer>C Drive>Users and right click my personal folder and share it other then that win 7 had no problem seeing all my fiels on XP but I had set that up for Vista before so maybe it helped having it setup prior not sure Thnx again
my computer setup is like your's, i got laptop with win 7 on wireless and desktop xp sp3 on cable connect to internet, i've follow every steps on this video and still nothing shown on both of my computer not even the computer name on each other, i've been at this for hours and not getting anywhere please help.
TY soooooo much!!! i just used thie to networt 7 & XP on 2 Laptops!!! much love... i am now coping my World of Warcraft folder... 16.9 GB. You made this very simple. <3
im having problems with my xp computer not finding my windows 7 and my windows 7 not being able to connect to xp, the windows 7 finds the laptop with xp on tho, can anyone help please
@TeamWigan Have you made sure the option "Turn on Network Discovery" is enabled on your Windows 7 computer? (Look at 2:16 in my tutorial.) If this is turned off no matter what you do it will not show up on the XP machine. If it is turned on, I suggest following the video one more time as the video should work under normal conditions.
@piotrekk8 The desktop was running Windows XP with Service Pack 3. I would suggest updating to service pack 3 if you haven't already. It patches some security vulnerabilities in earlier versions. Good luck!
Thanks for the restart notice!!!! could of used that info at the beginning of the vid

@sergeix4 The password option does enable you to share but if the rest is not setup correctly you can't "find" the other computer to share with. :)
