You know, if it wasn't for the movie "Hot Fuzz", I never would've heard of this guy ("Fire" is played briefly in that movie). It makes me wonder what other great acts I'm missing out on due to my tender years!
his real name is arthur wilton and he is from england. believe it or not him and a guy name clem curtis were lead singers for the r & b group the foundations in 67,you no the song Baby now that i found you. arthur quit shortly after. drohegda
@drohegda Holy Hell! Arthur Brown was in the Foundations? I always wondered what happened to that group. They actually had a couple of big hits. Thanks for that bit of history.
He used to live on my street... im only 13 but i thought he was a cool guy, i didnt realise how famous he was until i saw all his youtube videos. Damn i wish i gave him more respect, at least he let me stroke his dogs and walk them :D
I like Arthur and enjoyed chatting to him in this video. I just dislike my ghastly voice and lack of good grammar when talking to him, but I was unprepared.
I never felt lucky, he was just a fellow Neighbor :) Hes not as crazy as he looks in his music videos. Hes now moved somewhere else in my town, i still see him on the occasional basis. Oh, once he did a street concert but i missed it. :( I'm a fool and it was right on my street.
Holy Shit!! The Crazy World of Arthur Brown was the FIRST Rock album i ever listened to as a kid! (1st single was a 45 of Alice Cooper "Cold Ethel") At 5yrs old.. Fire! was such a moving funky beat to me!! Glad to hear he's still around and I will check his new CD.. Wish I still had that old LP..
Cheers! Actually, I am surprised that this vid hasn't had more views and comments!
Thousands are looking at old fuzzy clips of videos of Arthur's from 40 years ago, yet here is one recorded, like, last week, and not many are interested. Well he ain't singing, maybe that's it!
Amazing singer and such a sociable guy!

He gave a great show.I liked the metal mask and what looked like a Teutonic knights helmet that would burst into flames.

Is this guy Jewish?
Snotra 2 years ago
I haven't the faintest idea, but the surname "Brown" isn't very Jewish sounding!

@mikesey1 there's a Scottish Jewish comedian called Arnold Brown. I don't think Arthur Brown is Jewish though.

this guy was a nutcase in his 60's vids--never much got into him (but I did buy the "Fire" 45 when it came out--I was 15 in '68)
Alice Cooper may have ripped off Brown's make-up, but Coop was (and IS still) a greater artist...

yep great guy...ask him to sing 'silver machine' lol ! he sings calvert's ' gremlin song' great !

1967 was released "fire" by Arthur Brown and Jimi Hendrix at the same time. We had to choose, I chose Hendrix! - though Brown was cool too.
orlaej 2 years ago 3
"Fire" by TCWOAB came out in '68 in States (but yeah, Jimi's "Fire"--an entirely different (and BETTER) song came out in '67)

You're very lucky, Jake!!
I like Arthur and enjoyed chatting to him in this video. I just dislike my ghastly voice and lack of good grammar when talking to him, but I was unprepared.
I hope he'll be back again someday.
Cheers, mate. Mike.

Where do you live, Jake?
mikesey1 3 years ago
If you know where Lewes is, it is near Brighton.
I live in Lewes, Arthur still does but he moved to a different part of the town.
Jake01273 3 years ago 5
Hi Jake. Yep, I know Lewes quite well!
I know that Arthur lived in Devon for a while, too, with his GF.
Thanks for replying, mate.
Mike.

Hey, thanks for adding a note. Arthur's new album is wonderful. Some of his early albums maybe available on CD from specialist dealers.
He's a great guy.
