@ALYSSZ In the book, Cunegonde was never killed. She was stabbed but the leader stopped them from killing her. He then took her under his protection and healed her. If i remember right, i believe he also took advantaged of her.

they don't say, because it highlights the theme of extreme optimism. Everyone who dies just keeps reapearing even if they've been killed numerous times. It's one of the reasons why the novella/musical is so funny.
