I thought I would put my opinion in on this one. I accidently stumbled upon your book no more than two days after I found the videos. I really like the story about his and your life growing up out in Wyoming and it puts a real strong perspective on really how difficult it is to raise and live with a domesticated wild animal.
Charlie is awesome. Reminds me of Fang, my neighbor's ( where I used to live) tame Wolf. Fang wasn't at all how Tamed Wolfs are described, he was quite friendly, and was protective of not only my neighbor, but me as well. I twisted my ankle one day and he was right beside me when I got up, as if escorting me to my house. He didn't mind strangers, he mostly ignored them until they are around enough for him to get used to them.
It's amazing how graceful Charlie is, even compared to an agile dog. He moves like a hyperactive cat. The only domestic dog I've seen come close is a greyhound.
thats an incredibly suburbanized coyote (figuratively speaking), but remember a coyote is a wild animal and that streak can come out sometimes... with as nice as this coyote seems i dont think that will happen
wow, I never thought possible that a coyote can get along with your pets! I guess the wild coyotes gets too hungry that they want to eat anything. How did you get this coyote and what is his temperament?
Thank you so much for sharing Charlie's life with us. As an Arizona coyote fan, I see how they are often vilified (and killed)- this is a refreshing change of pace that shows the real animal just being himself. Sometimes I get a bit depressed about the state of the world- then I can come to a place like this and feel better again! (The cowboy shots ain't bad either! ;))
BTW, I also have a Border Collie mix- they have so much energy I think Chloe will be perfect as a companion for a coyote!
Hahaha! That was great! It's nice that Charlie has another canine in the house. Eli's a good big brother, but cats don't really do marathon chase sessions.
Heee! Also, puppies = Short Attention Span Theater. So Charlie runs off, looks around...and there's Chloe, distracted by a grass blade. Hey, over here! Over here!

I like how Chloe keeps trying yet Charlie dances away every time she lunges.

That is so unfair! Chubby little puppy legs on Chloe, and long coyote legs on Charlie - she never gets to catch him!
One day she will. :)
