Oh my f*cking God... These guys still makes me happy! Lot's of new music which I like but Saga, Rush, Camel, Journey keeps on make me smile over and over again!
@MrMegaFredzeppelin Yes, This a most excellent song. I wanna take a moment out of the daily rush of life and chores and close my eyes and listen intently to this. Thank you.
saga is a canadian progressive rock band, tipigi is right. i saw them back in my college years in san juan, pr. they were awesome in every of their three concerts.
Actually they were sponsored by Moog for a while - but not when this was filmed. Only one Polymoog on stage BTW. The bass player has a JP4 and Multimoog.
@pewploid The original drummer, Steve Negus, was born in Hamilton. As for Sadler, he was born in Wales and moved to Canada when he was 3.... You cant compare Saga to Triumph; Saga is far more progressive and complex.
@APortraitofUtopia That's just wrong dude! Everyone has their own musical tastes. Some are cultural driven others force fed to us by our parents when we were children. Some evolve and learn to appreciate a vast variety of musical genres and others just digress into their own little world trapped by either their own fears or insecurities.

As an American I must say that I go to Canada to see the best bands in the world. I was just in Montreal to see the Marillion Weekend convention. As I neared the city, I tuned into CHOM FM97.7 and immediately heard SAGA - "On The Loose"!! I thought to mself, damm this is going to be a great weekend. Parents, teach your children the meaning of good music written by bands that have been there and done it...not the crap fly by night that's out there today.
@TheDutchskipper hey D.S. .. i love SAGA, been too long since i've seen them, but good news, did you know they're coming to Montreal in October?, you probably did,but though i'd mention it anyway.
@TheDutchskipper Agreed. they don't make music like they used to. hate this rap crap or this pop bull, back in the days it was about the talent with real instruments, it meant something, today is about the money and the spot light,.wonder why im stuck in the past, 50s through the 80's is the best era for anything.
I LOVE SAGA-- but I don't remember this song... remember crankin the vinyl at a friends house - this and ADAM ANT- Kings of the Wild Frontiers...ah.. when young...haha.. hard to believe over 25 years ago--
This song is a fucking hidden gem masterpiece of progressive rock. Almost on par with the great songs of the 70's prog: "The Musical Box"(Genesis) and "Roundabout" (Yes). And the best is it doesn't sound like anything else. This is the song that sums up Sagas unique style perfectly.
@XWinfield Any word if they'll be in the Philadelphia area this year? I can't believe I did not see this band in the '80's when I was heavily into my prog rock phase.... actually, I still am!
@XWinfield That is really good news. I loved the singer on the latest album, but thought Saga was headed in the right direction on the previous album.
Fucking amazing band, their earlier stuff was the best but their newer stuff is good too. im only 16 too. i love the days when music used to have meaning
the first time i heard this song must of been close to 22 years ago,i listen to it today and it still fucking great...long live these bands, saga rush triumph etc..THE FUCK WITH TODAYS MUSIC!!!!!!
ich hab schnauzbart und seine gang damals in den 80ern in der olympiahalle gesehen. und ian kreischton hatte den gitarrensound mit verstärker so hingebracht. das war klasse!
Oh the days where even synth was actually played, with your hands, as opposed to just created on a computer...where have those days gone...hooray for Oakville, creating such talent.
Michael Sadler does not have a mustache. What you see here is just the incredibly pure awesomeness of his voice crystallizing on his upper lip. It would surely kill all of us if we were allowed to hear it directly.
I remember seeing them on the "World's Apart" tour they toured with billy Squire. now billy is a great artiat but we walked out after 3 songs from him after seeing Saga perform in my opinion they should have head lined that concert
I also remember the drummer during a song dropping from his trap set under the stage and being pulled out from the riser sitting behind a Simon' s electronic Drum set
I caught the Saga train when they released Images at Twilight, and never looked back. I had the privilege of metting the guys during the "Worlds Apart" tour, what a great bunch of folks.
Oh, and just in case you haven't noticed, pure musical genius at work here!
yep..i remember as a kid..this is the same year year when they went to san juan, puerto rico and sold out 3 nites at the national stadium in san juan....
Saga is a fantastic Canadian band, big in Germany, boy how times flies with the band, very young Steve Negus on drums and Mike Saddler, Jim Gilmour and Jim and Ian Crighton, miss the originals for sure, I have 7 of there albums and the In Transit Album, my best is by far On The Loose , Wind them up, but pretty much like them all.
The name is Michael Sadler, not Saddler. The Song is called Wind him up,not wind them up.,and the brothers of the Band ,the name is Crichton, not Crighton.Greetings from Germany,Gelsenkirchen
Ian Crichton is one of the most talented underrated guitar players in rockin roll. Attack, timing, creativity and genius. His solos have something to say...
saga!!! not too many ppl. know or remember, but one of the classics and pioneers of progressive rock!!! I had the pleasure of seen them in 1982 in San juan P.R.
Saga is one of the best bands that nobody knows about. They are not commercial, they have a cult following. I do not know any fans of Saga. I ask people if they know about them. Everyone says never heard of them.
@petesteeler Hey my father use to play saga and I would do the exact same thing and look for it in stores until utube I couldn't find it... They are one of the classics of rock and roll.
The guitarist plays like a page right out of the Alex Lifeson book of newave guitar. His sound sure sounds like he borrowed a little from permanent waves and moving pictures.
Awsome.Masterpiece.This song and CD "In Transit" is still in my head; and was one of our reference CD's early 80's when tunining/designing/testing our first commercial PA speaker design.Beware of attack in "Brief case".RIP fine fellow.
Canadian bands have always sound easy to identify(Loverboy,Rush,Saga,Triumph,Lee Aaron...) and it is always great. I am fan of Rush(not only because Alex Lifeson is Serb but also 'cause it is one of greatests bands ever) but i enjoy every song of Saga. It is so proggressive and can relax till nirvana.
1987 ? I saw them in Gothenburg whit my son who was about 16 at the time, and it was a fantastic concert. I love SAGA and my son got a new experience of music!!!!
Does anyone here have any clue what type of synth Jim Crichton was using for the keyboard bass part on this song. Please let me know if you do. Been trying to figure it out for years. Thanks.
I bought the "Worlds Apart" record when I was in highschool, Got the CD for this Christmas and now that I am older I have the notion that I need to get more. Thank goodness that now there is youtube, I can go shopping for the stuff that isnt what I have. You real fans have any suggestions for me?

Awsome.Masterpiece.This song and CD "In Transit" is still in my head; and was one of our reference CD's early 80's when tunining/designing/testing our first commercial PA speaker design.Beware of attack in "Brief case".RIP fine fellow.

I was fortunate to see Saga with Headpins and Quiet Riot. Saga Ruled followed by Headpins and Q Riot. Loudest show I've ever been to.
Been a fan ever since, that was 1983.

Does anyone here have any clue what type of synth Jim Crichton was using for the keyboard bass part on this song. Please let me know if you do. Been trying to figure it out for years. Thanks.
