i dont want TOR to take the blame for its shutdown, SWG isnt a bad game, the ones that left just didnt realise it and left because everyone else did, i enjoyed my time in the trial and i even got to be apart of a giuld temporarily, it doesnt deserve this fate NGE or not i would play it if it becomes F2P
Yeah this game is dead, SOE is running low on money, had the servers down for some time now and they are just going to release this. To be honest, I liked the pre-CU class system better. there were NO levels. There were just skills. the more you killed the more skill you gained, and when you reached it's maximum potential, new trees opened up for oyu. just like in real life. When you start ap roffesion you learn the basics, then advance to something more complicated. This..well.. This is now SWG anymore, not for me. And as for the Jedi... I just made padawan 2 weeks before the Cu hit..and I think all these jedi's are posers.

@repulic5 I wish I could explain it properly. But truth is you had to play it to understand what it was really like. To make a long story short, they changed how you played the game. It was a constant swinging of the nerf bat. Then one day without warning POOF!!! all the hard work you put in creating your character was pretty much erased.Its like playing Halo one day then suddenly next day you logon you're playing Final Fantasy, it was a completely new game and it came at YOUR expense.

@SHIBBYiPANDA Accually, theres not that many, its a hard class to master since you have to put alot of time into the skill trees, its much easier to go with a ranged class.
@chriscos123 there's no way that becoming a Jedi is anywhere close to as hard as it used to be.. U used to have 4 random classes out of 30, which were different from character to character and you had to master those 4 classes... Then after you did that you had to go sit by yourself for a long time until an old man came and talked to you about being a jedi and then he'd unlock the jedi skill tree, which was even harder to train in then because you'd become "illegal" so a target for imps and BH's
@SHIBBYiPANDA So becoming a jedi is easy, that doesnt make it the prime choice for new players. Honestly, there arnt that many jedi left. I guess they figured people wanted to be jedi faster? Well they answered, and what we got was a balanced out class system. It may be a generic RPG, but that doesnt make it bad.
@chriscos123 Ya I might try it again because the class system was kind of nuts the original way they had it but they took out some great things with the combat "upgrade" that really blew plus they changed the shooting professions so that they actually had to aim, has that changed???
@SHIBBYiPANDA No, you still have to aim, which in my opinion, makes combat more involved and fast passed, much for fun, however, if you want you can press Y i think and change to auto aim, you still have to click to attack though.

@SHIBBYiPANDA As of now, its more or less a generic MMORPG with a star wars twist, nothing too special because of the NGE update. However its got some neat concepts like space combat, player economy and cities, etc, so it still retained all that from pre-cu, You do have to click to attack for hand-hand, but like to said, you could press Y to auto-attack, download the trail and check it out if your unclear.

yup this was not only the first SWG MMO but one of the best sandbox style MMOs to of ever been made. It was buggy, laggy, many features didnt work right or just pissed you off and yet it was AMAZING! When the emu releases you should give it a try.
@tehnoobclay I can say, it's still fun to new people. it's honestly a great game. But if you were there when it was first made, you'd understand. it was so much more lively and complicated. It used to be unique. But I'm glad you like it :).
@TheWarPope yes it came out 2 years before WoW but was nothing like it. When WoW came out, SOE panicked and tried to emulate its success by completely removing the community aspect and creating a wow template which desroyed the sandbox. There never used to be character levels. There was over 30 professions which you could mix and match to create unique templates. It used to be sublime.
@karadan100 i think it was more LucasFarts than SoE that was responsible, i think they demanded SoE to do the NGE, Lucasfarts is a fail company they make shitty/buggy products like battlefront 2
I think it would be cool if in this game you could fuck up the events of Episode 3 or a New hope or Empire Strikes back. Think of it, your strutting your stuff in the Mos Eisley Cantina and you see a guy with a blaster get his arm whacked off by an old dude with a lightsaber. you now have 3 options

Dont go back, trust me. The game is so damn hard that its almost pointless. Everything is a group mission and you need the best gear the get through it.
Its actually not that bad. Wife and me went back and we have enjoyed ourselves. The graphics are starting to show its age. But there is so much depth to the game with a ton to do. Just treat it as a new game when you go back and you won't be disappointed. Its still the only game where you can fly a Tie Fighter one minute then land on a planet and fight jawas the next second.
i moved to WoW aswell..conjured a disease for me over time tho...now i look at any other MMO and see lack of effort put in... im prayin SWTOR breaks that pesimistic view i have over mmo's .. EMU still hasnt got there yet.. i dont think theres enough support backing it.. they're trying.. i respect that.. but i think thats the end.. very feckin hard to accept tho.. im no pc geek but i really miss that bloody game haha ..sand-box games FTW!!!

i miss it too..I just became a Jedi after playing for 14 months...when they chenged it..I was soooo angry I wanted to blow the soe buildings into space....moved to wow after that.

Star Wars Galaxies really had such a good universe/world ... the way you could travel anywhere and build houses and guild halls and everyone was excellent! You were so free to do anything! Too bad everything else was pretty bad ...

Man I might've done away with my account needlessly... 5 years ago I paid off the rent of my houses until sometime around now actually.. I might pay cuz I'd actually would give anything to have my house back where it was... I hope they set up National Parks in Naboo to keep everyone from building at all the nicest scenario.. That game for me was essentially a Star Wars Sims combined with a Star Wars sightseeing game.. LOLOL!!

yup this was not only the first SWG MMO but one of the best sandbox style MMOs to of ever been made. It was buggy, laggy, many features didnt work right or just pissed you off and yet it was AMAZING! When the emu releases you should give it a try.

@TheWarPope yes it came out 2 years before WoW but was nothing like it. When WoW came out, SOE panicked and tried to emulate its success by completely removing the community aspect and creating a wow template which desroyed the sandbox. There never used to be character levels. There was over 30 professions which you could mix and match to create unique templates. It used to be sublime.

I think it would be cool if in this game you could fuck up the events of Episode 3 or a New hope or Empire Strikes back. Think of it, your strutting your stuff in the Mos Eisley Cantina and you see a guy with a blaster get his arm whacked off by an old dude with a lightsaber. you now have 3 options
1.Go Investigate
2.Leave
3.Go tell some Stormtroopers.....

Its actually not that bad. Wife and me went back and we have enjoyed ourselves. The graphics are starting to show its age. But there is so much depth to the game with a ton to do. Just treat it as a new game when you go back and you won't be disappointed. Its still the only game where you can fly a Tie Fighter one minute then land on a planet and fight jawas the next second.

Imagine if Sony sold TVs that, a couple years after using, would turn into toasters? Or if PlayStations would only run old ATARI games a year later? That would be rediculous!
