  • So, uhh,.. how'd that smell?

  • Now admittedly, there is the curiosity factor such as wondering whether the whole elk was beneath the surface and determining a guess as to the depth of the hole, but wasn't there something else to be doing in such a beautiful location? Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the video and apparently you folks enjoyed the challenge of dragging the poor creature from his murky grave. I guess we all benefit if we all enjoyed ourselves. Good video!

  • hey he can grow potatoes I like them Idaho potatoes.

  • yes maybe we will be drilling for oil by then.I feel bad for the poor beaste.

  • ya did it get coverd over with a boulder or fenceing with a top on it.

  • i hate packing into seven devils i but there are some good spots

  • sad.......i hope you filled it in a bit or covered it over with logs and debris to keep other critters out of it !!

  • did you pull it out to have wierd mormon sex with it?

  • why bother with it meats contaminated it consumed alot of that stangnant water and mud

  • Why are they smiling? This is really sad!:(

  • STOP THE GAY MUSIC!

  • did u guys gut it?lol

  • Would of been oil someday. But instead you got him out.Rats some car could of used that in future.

  • @7466309change We cant drill for oil here.........didnt you know that?.......lol.

  • @clewi1091 lol yes.But it was to be oil in trillion years.

  • @7466309change Oh ok. Well, maybe by then we can drill for oil here..lol.

  • @max4hunter1 yes blame yt, made me use audio swap

  • Makes me wonder whether I would wanna go mudding on the mountain......

  • Where in Idaho was this and what made the hole?

  • @Snipe4261 it was in the seven devils the elk made the hole.

  • @windham666 Neat, I live about 90 miles from there. How could the elk have made such a large deep hole and then died in it? Was it a wallow gone wrong or something?

  • I am so glad that no one fell in and died during the filming of this awesome video. I personally find the music very appropriate.

  • @SuperDontaco It wasn't Filmed ^_^

    it was photographed lol.

  • cool pics..... awefull music!! LOL.

  • @WyoPH82 agreed - i used to have savatage on here til wmg axed it.

  • this song is amazing. who is the artist and what song is it?

  • @GAMECOCKS0825 this is the worst possible song i could fine in the yt audio crap library after they pulled my savatage music

  • hshahha shouldnt left him becasue he was only diiging himslef a grave....

  • did you at least take the horns

  • @27100007210 Antlers! they are called antlers! Sorry im bored

  • great story but this music is terrible.

  • i agree, blame yt. blame wmg. they removed the savatage song i had on here originally.

  • looks like a trap. maybe poachers why would there be a 6' x 6' grave full of water in the hills ?

  • Oh my. Ever spent an hour out in the mountains? Didn't think so.

  • atually the elk is from northern europe ,,the one called the elk in north america s north

    is called the wapiti

believe it or not, they have special canine teeth to cut away roots with

look it up,, i saw a skull myself that had them

  • was the meat still edible???

nice rack ,, man i could use that

  • not an elk, som kind of deer

  • you must be from europe. in the USA, it's an elk. what you call an elk is what we call a moose.

  • no its an elk

  • @anderswide yes, an elk is in the deer family.

  • how did you ever get that thing out?

  • 4 guys and a rope.

  • @windham666 sounds like some screwed up movie 4 guys 1 rope lol

  • That elk had a pretty ncie rack too 7 by 7 O_O

  • Thats a 6X6.

  • nice, you pull it out so another elk can fill it right back up again

  • nope filled the hole with logs you jarhead.

  • 300 million years later it still happens !!!

  • thats werid guess he didnt know how to swim

  • good 6 point bull. but may i ask, how the hell did you guys find him if it was 7 feet deep, was he just like floating up at the top? lol

  • the rack was sticking up from the mud.

  • looks like a wallow gone bad

  • what a dirty way to die!!!

  • rofl

  • he's a pretty good size, sucks he had to go like that. If you're ever stuck in the mountains for a long time just build yourself one big ass sink hole and there ya have it......dinner ;) lol

  • mother nature can be a BITCH!

  • where are u guys from?? SE IDaho??

  • SW, not SE

  • What is a hole that deep doing in the middle of the forest?

  • what a suckish way to die

  • Fossil? Not a chance. That elk would have had to been buried catastrophically deep enough to avoid any bacterial or microbe activity and without any oxygen present and then it may have become fossilized.

    Cool photos. Not a fossill.

  • Al Gore researched it and said it was a climate change trap caused by Al qaeda and swine flu mixed with sars and bird flu...no really

  • Comment removed

  • @duxburyfamily whatever, al gore is the man

  • Wow, he's big..what part of Idaho?

  • I am not to sure that was water in the mud...

  • this sound sucks.. kill the 80's shit please.

  • i agree 100% homer read the box, i had a nice instrumental on here from savatage but WMG gave it the axe so i put some crap YT music on here to avoid having to reload

  • might be a regular spot to find dead ones. Did u fill the hole?

  • yes, filled with logs

  • Just amazing!! Lucky boys!! I love this Video! over & over How are these mud pits made??? please tell me!!!

  • i am pretty sure it is a wallow, where the find a puddle of mud and roll around in it. but this one must have had a soft bottom, or maybe it was a small seep of spring water in it. somehow he got in too deep.

  • Agreed he was trying to use it as a wallow he surely didn't just fall in

  • Could you imagine the way he struggled? Cripe. that was something to fathom

  • You all Watch Survivorman? I Love that Canadian & His show.. You know.. He'd probly have the nuts to eat it and drink the water from it with somekind of a evaporation raincatch... :) just boggles my mind as to what a BULL you stumbled across! This Video is Great! post some more of Sheds & Skulls found.

  • Found a nice Cougar kill 3 by 3... Real tall at the West end of Silver Creek. Was Fly fishing and happened to see scattered deer parts.. knowing my luck just a doe right... looked all around. Real Tall 3 by 3 skull.. full of maggots but a keeper

  • nice. i would let the birds and bugs finish their work, then soak in some bleach., it will clean right up.

  • WOW!!! Lucky boys!! must be up near the panhandle or the Frank Church cuz you dont find mudholes like like around 50 mil radious of Boise

  • i think north of cambridge in 7 devils country...

  • What i hear is the best Shed & Skull around these Parts may be I-84 Head East to Lucky Peak. Take Arrowrock back just shy of the middle fork of the Boise.. Pick a hill on the left and hike. My friend found a couple of spike bones.. Garden Valley is another Gold mine as far as sheds. Buddy found a shed so old it was made up of sand! well.. petrified Antler. He went to throw it in his pack & it crumbled.. was only a Fork, but none the less.

  • that crazy that the pit was the elk size?

  • cool story, I have seen these mud pits in Idaho and the elk roll in them or take mud baths.

  • bet the smell wasnt nice

  • Well, I guess conditions for fossilization were obviously NOT right. You pulled it out and ruined the opportunity for some future Ph.D. student to write a thesis on the topic...

Damn you. Ahh just kidding. Interesting find, I admit.

  • was that man made or nature! SO MANY STUPID COMMENTS!

  • is a wallow like a spring coming out of the ground cause here in wiosconsin u can be walking threw the swamp like knee deep and when u step in a spring u go down to bout neck its scary happened duck hunting to me last year my friend pulled me out

  • josh a wallow is a place where they go to roll in the mud and dirt. it is part of rutting i think. maybe for the bitting insects also. whatever you do, don't fall in head first next time!

  • thxs lol

  • this actually happened to a deer hunter here in alaska a couple years ago. he was hunting alone, fell headfirst into a small little bog, about this size and died!

  • i bet and then i winter hey u get to fall threw the ice lol then drown thats got to be the worst way to go burning or drowning

  • i dont think he drowned, just got tired and died.

  • Thats no mudhole... thats a wallow. Pore old fella just got stuck in it though. Too bad for him. Would have been a nice trophy for my wall!

  • He probably climbed in vice fell as Bulls use them heavily during the rut... We archery hunt elk around their wallows in Idaho....

  • That's mud hole was helladeep. Unfortunate.

  • thats crazy. a few years ago the game and fish found a whole herd of elk frozen in a lake. crazy animals man!

  • That's one unlucky elk. At least he doesn't end up in a Creation 'science' museum with a tag saying 'God did this'.

  • and that children is how fossils get made :D

  • nadia my friend i swear you must have esp, i was just about to add this to the description box. exactly right.
