  • HIP HOP SAMPLE!

  • Very cool track. Thanks man!

  • i like the ending

  • opening guitar parts Barney Kessel and Jerry Cole or...Al Casey...Glen Campbell...Tedesco?

  • there's a more succinct cohesive version as a bonus track on the smiley smile-wild honey cd. also theres a bonus track on the smile 2 disc version which i haven't listened to yet. (waiting for the right time to burn one down to)

  • This is wonderful. The fuzz guitar (or bass?) part is great. The flutes at the end are mystical. Even if it WAS fake it fits in perfectly. It would be cool if there were flutes throughout. You did a good job man!

  • very fine ... ;-)

  • I'm not gonna lie, I enjoy this more than the original version

  • @Chiplinked I agree. I wish they kept this for smiley smile.

  • I like it, and i don't really care where it came from, music is music, and if it feels and sounds good then that's it. Pop heaven. Really looking forward to the Smile box set. Wonderful musical time, wonderful music, I mean those cello's set against a theremin and sleigh bells...genius. A

  • this isnt the long version its the smile version

  • All i can say is GROOVY.

  • Fantastic!

  • thanks D....

    okay i send him good vibrations

    ~~~~ oooohhhoohhhhh~~~~
    i do not remember this cool 'n long version in my brother's 4 foot tall stack of surfer records back in the day...
    sowaycool indeed
  • I love the little vocal that you first hear at 2:21. It caught me off guard when I first heard it here but it really fits.
  • i prefer the alternate versions found on the smiley smile/wild honey cd
  • Brian Wilson, Brian Jones, John Lennon, Syd Barrett, and Skip Spence all should have left their bands and formed the best band ever.
  • @CaptainPillowMusic would have been to much of a clash of personalities
  • @CaptainPillowMusic That is DEFINITELY something to fantasize about, but like crowley24 said, I don't know how those personalities would have gotten on with one another! Respect for each others art only goes so far before the ego takes over.
  • @CaptainPillowMusic Brian Jones and Syd Barrett were too stoned out of their minds to even function. They just stayed put until the day they got sacked.
  • @predlycon No way dude! They would totally work! And I'll explain why, because I'm just fucking with you and I'm not explaining anything, because you shouldn't take a fantasy comment so seriously. Your comment's actually a bit simplistic. I think you need to read their histories a bit deeper. But thanks for giving me another laugh, as someone yet again takes my fantasy comment as reality.
  • @CaptainPillowMusic Don't be a douche. All I'm giving is a reply to *your* "fantasy comment", how even in *your* fantasy, the thing would not work with Jones and Barrett. And like what the others said, it's too much of a clash of personalities.
  • @CaptainPillowMusic Don't forget Ray Davies, Pete Townshend and Billy Corgan (As far as music visionary's go). And you should probably add Paul McCartney for good measure too.
  • @ArtemisFlyingV
    >Billy Corgan
    >musical visionary
    I mean, the Pumpkins are okay at best, but honestly putting him anywhere near Brian Wilson's league is absurd. Brian Wilson is closer to Bach or Mozart than pop songwriters.
  • @mothafuckajones666 Alright, I respect your opinion, but I'm going to ask you to respect mine. I believe Corgan is up there, don't call my opinions absurd. Music is subjective and not fact based. On what grounds can you call my opinion absurd? Just because you believe Wilson is closer to Mozart or Bach doesn't really make it a fact.
  • This is one of the best songs ever made, can't wait till SMiLE.
  • I'll give you a "rope a dope" that'll be your silent night Buzzard.
  • I remember a 30 minute version that I guy I knew had on a CD bootleg about 18 years ago. The song had movements. It was epic.
  • @PVCVIDEOLA Jesus Christ, I need to hear that.
  • i thought this was tha normal one .. its tha only one av ever heard haha
  • why this is only the 3rd beach boys hit single?
    that time beatles already had more than 20 hits!
  • number 1 sing,e they had about 30 or so top top 5 hits
  • so what,quality not quantity
  • Excellent!
    The Buzzards favorite song, with "Silent Night" a
    close second
  • Could you post a link to that?
  • AWSOME SONG!!
  • great version thanks!
    ask a musician. consistancy is something you strive to avoid. what a compliment!
  • WOH!
    New to me - mind you, even as the 'truncated' single, "G.V." is a symphonic masterpiece.
    This'n in it's FULL-LENGTH UNCUT GLORY is UBER-MEGA-ULTRA-*SUPERB!*
    Muchas Gracias, Compadre!
  • I like it!
  • love it
  • this is a great verssion, and remindsme pink floid
  • This is a great version, and reminds me of Pink Floyd.
  • I think Pink Floyd listened very careful to this!!
  • Yeah i agree. It's like a mix between pink floyd and the beatles. I wish this version got played more.
  • @Emilcortes Pink Floid...????
  • :) :)
  • woow amazing
  • Brian Wilson is a genius
  • This is how it is: The Beatles made music that really changed everything. After Rubber Soul came out by the Beatles, Brian Wilson really wanted to live up to that new sound and so they created Pet Sounds, probably one of the greatest albums ever. Beatles albums were always very out there and very inconsistent. They had some good albums, but nothing as good as Pet Sounds BY FAR. But as for over all songs, the Beatles have better songs that are more powerful and revolutionary.
  • i've gotta say i disagree when you say the beatles' albums were inconsistent.
    revolver and pet sounds go hand in hand for me, really.
    they're both so great that you can't really say one is better than the other.
  • If the Beatles were inconsistent, Brian Jones was wayyyy worse. Regardless, this is one of the greatest albums ever made.
  • LOL. "but nothing as good as Pet Sounds BY FAR"
    Have you heard of "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band"? I mean it's like that doesn't even exist to all of you Beach Boys fans! And really Good Vibrations can't compare to Strawberry Fields Forever.
  • Comment removed
  • I LOVE the Beatles but I definitely don't agree with you. Wilson made some very well thought out arrangements.
  • @roflganklol Lol I'm a bigger Beatles fan as well, but if you think they all sound the same you obviously aren't listening...
  • got my leg tapping away
  • Wait, where did you find these extra instrument parts? I mean for all we know, this could be fake.
  • you can find alot of "extra parts" on the unsurpassed Masters of the beach boys,SMiLE bootlegs, the beach boys archology, there are all kinds of beach boys bootlegs out there....but this sounds pretty genuine to me :)
  • All the "extra" parts used here come from either the Good Vibrations: 40th Anniversary Edition EP and from The Purple Chick's bootleg of Smile.
  • @Icix1 there is a ton of music for this song that's been bootlegged.
  • @Icix1
    Brian had produced literally hundreds of different snippets that went unused after the epic SMiLE project collapsed. There is a box set that has all these extras and this guy edited it in his own way. It is not fake however, you can hear even more musical segments on the lost SMiLE tapes.
  • @bobshenix And they're all much better quality.
    I might try and put together my own version of this, it's so good.
  • this is also great(compared to the "original")! especially the beginning. and new to me.
  • you edited some unused stuff for good vibrations?? how did you find them in the first place??
    awesome... a really good edit
  • To me, this is new discovery because I knew only the original one.
  • not at all you are not boring
  • This is absolutely brilliant.
    Well done!
  • Back in the USSR of The Beatles if a parody of The Beach Boys
  • I guess you have never heard a Beatles song in your life. This is not the same melody and the same rhythm at all. Go ahead Israel "Abanibi"-Abaniba : Izhar Cohen and The Alphabeta. All the legend of your country stands in this 1978 Eurovision winner :-)))
  • its not a parody, its a tribute. Paul was a huge fan of the beach boys
  • I recently discovered how good this song is- i kept replaying at work this week :)
  • sounds like a dub version
  • o
    My
    God
    nevernevernever heard of this version!!!1000stars rated!
  • Absoultely fantastic!! One in a trillion!
  • wow, this is the long version.
  • This is an amazing version! Even though the original 1966 is perfect and can't be faulted, I have always loved Tony Asher's original lyrics and Brian's original vocal.
  • It's all nonsense this comparison rubbish. Both the Beach Boys and the Beatles live by their beautiful music. We are all made better by their existence (and their tremendous rivalry, making 1967 rather special.).
  • @wordtweaker then u have the people who think that The Beach Boys didn't make anywhere near the dent on rock music that The Beatles did.... such as myself
  • rare beach boys songs on my channel!!!
  • Genius
  • Musically speaking,Brian was far superior to Lennon/McCartney. Though they were better songwriters,I think Brian had a more overwhelming musical vision.
  • "OVERWHELMING" is right,LOL!!
  • Though I love the Beatles, you are right. Compare this to A Day In The Life, a lot of similarities
  • @colmanaucoin They were better lyricists, he was the better composer you mean.
  • This version would be good for a live show. The audience might dig it since live stuff is generally longer anyway.
  • Paul said in one of his interviews, that he thought the Beach Boys the better of the two groups. Both were inspirational.
  • Lost.
  • RIP Charlie :(
  • any time you step out of your class you step down. this is no exception. it is interesting but never on my play list. is this a "box set" leftover?
  • It's like a film or sculpting -- it's easy to take away or cut things. What you hear is everything he had imagined for the song, but not sure what to cut. By the way, when this song was produced, it was the most expensive song ever recorded at $45,000.
  • And it gave CAROL KAYE plenty of room to cut
    loose on electric bass,didn't it? :)
  • rofl
  • It really sounded like others sang and superimposed over tapes. Was this an interpretation? Who did this? Was this Beach Boys.
  • Sheer genius and it still is amazing 42 years later
  • I made a 5:30 stereo version and it was fun fun fun.
  • this is my gymnastics floor song lol
  • There's actually a 12-minute version of "Good Vibrations" on an Eighties "Smile" CD... I'd love to hear that.
  • Is this a joke? Good Vibrations is one of the sweetest songs ever written. This song is just a mess.
  • love 3:52-4:56
    especially 4:22-4:56
    ...and i'm not much of a Beach Boys fan.
  • by the way
    5:50-6:08 is cool too.
  • hehe you're right
  • dude since this was made by brian HIMSELF the single version is way better, i mean longer means not better.
  • at 5:30 its like something out of "destroy all humans" sounds so cool
  • The perfect song.
    Brian sold his soul for it.
    Can you hear the devil sing?
  • Great intro, the rest is..."interesting".
  • Is this a cool song or what!!?
  • wish they played this on the radio -- Brian (pet sounds -- just wasn't made for his times)Luv My Carl, Denny and Brian!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • They play it in Utah, Excellent song.
    Have you heard their song called Salt lake city?
  • It's probably on page 50 of my site hee hee
  • One of the weirdest, most creative minds in the history of music.
  • u can barely hear it at the beggining im like what is this? i got it windows music player its sooo louder =/ but i guess good vid,
  • incredible Brian!!!
  • Actionjacksonsucka, I hate to inform you but this was 1966, strawberry fields was 67.....
  • "The Beach Boys were trying to achieve the 'strawberry fields forever' psychedelic sound done by the beatles.
    John, George, Ringo and Paul were all one step ahead of Brian Wilson"
    Ahh...That is weird since Brian started recording Good Vibrations in February of 1966 (released in October of '66) while the Beatles didn't start recording Strawberry Fields until November of 1966 (released in February of '67).
    Brian was 9 months ahead of the Beatles.
    Good try, though.
  • Haha, I'm a fan of the beatles more then the beach boys and I even knew how much the beatles took from the beach boys hahaha, wow.
  • Well The Beach Boys got their ideas from The Beatles. They both took stuff from each other. It was a friendly rivalry.
  • Pet Sounds was actually Wilson's attempt to top Revolver, before the Sgt. Pepper's sessions even took place.
    Sgt. Pepper's was the Beatles' response to Pet Sounds.
  • Yup.. though calling Sgt. Pepper a responce isn't really true. It took music even one step further. Making good music without making it 'love songs'.
    Though conceptual it was new and exiting it musically wasn't nearly as 'new' as Pet Sounds was.
  • The Beach Boys and The Beatles had a friendly rivalry. Pet Sounds was a response to The Beatles Rubber Soul. And Sgt. Peppers was the response to Pet Sounds, which completely murdered it. Brian Wilson could have outdone Sgt. Peppers, but he was too depressed. He said that The Beatles found the sound he was looking for. After hearing Strawberry Fields, he locked himself in his room for a few weeks.
  • Pet Sounds came out before Revolver. Good Vibrations was being worked on at the time Revolver was released. You are right however about Pepper, as the Beatles were recording Revolver when Sounds was released thus the earliest response concept wise is Pepper.
  • I remember this version, Brian Wilson signed a recording contract at PA studios somewhere in Pennsylvania and was stunned to find he was swindled (PA studios is Ammish Pennsylvania studios).
    The place was was a cold empty barn.
    Since the recording was due in three days he had no choice but to steal various Ammish goods to use as homemade instruments and invent a new method of recording (cow udders in binary sequence), later he re-recorded it in a pro studio (the version everyone knows).
  • sure.....
  • ...don't you like my version?....lol
  • love 1:02
  • the top
  • Nothing like it.
  • There is a reasonthese clips ended up on the cutting room floor.
  • I love this song, because of all the different sounds and voices mixed together.
  • this is so much about lsd
  • fantastic!!!
  • Oh! This is epiccer than the other one.
  • more epic**
  • now this version is truly amazing how well Brian Wilson made it. Is this version on any CD of the Beach Boys?
  • I knew that Brian Wilson basically recorded "Good Vibrations" in tiny pieces, and only used a handful of them for the single. Nice to hear what the other pieces sound like. Thanks for posting!
  • Dig CAROL KAYE'S electric bass playing...she
    strummed with a pick...
  • I'm posting all the SMiLE songs including this one on my channel. Just click my name.
  • Good good good good vibrations
  • whatever the song is the shit stop bitching!
  • not bad
  • Wow, there's some stuff on here I hadn't heard before. Quite a collage of sound. Cool.
  • Very curious and pretty cool.
    5*****'s
    ~ Tim
  • Excellent! thanks for posting!
  • hay guys you are going to thank this funny hehehe i forgot i had just turned down the volume. cool song
  • what the f#@& is this i guess the joke is on me i cant hear no sound humm hahah haahah very funny
  • faced
  • This a good version, is better than i listened always
  • Nice. THanks for posting it
  • Very nice. A good snapshot of where BW's head was at. I would have liked to see how he could have mixed in the section at the end (with the piccolo) into the various versions I have heard.
    Also nice to hear the original lyrics in a '60's version of the song. They are much better.
  • Actually, poniesinashed is correct. The instrument used in Good Vibrations was a modification of the theremin called a Tannerin.
  • bullshit i had to spend like two month researching this song and anylising the shit out of it and the word tannerin was never mentioned
  • Haha, you're not very good at research then. They wanted a theremin sound, but no one could play it, Paul Tanner and Bob Whitsell invented the electro-theremin (or tannerin if you like). Paul Tanner (who played the trombone) played it with a slide resistor.
  • yes exactly an electro theremin bellend
  • Exactly, not the same thing as a theremin. You didn't do your research properly.
  • OH NOES, he didn't do his research properly.. Hopefully, RESEARCH PATROLMAN EYEBALL226 WAS HERE TO SAVE THE DAY. Not.
  • I was simply pointing out that his "I'm a music tech student and I researched this song!!" didn't make him right. This whole string of comments started with him attacking poniesinashed.
  • yea but i am right
  • No. Poniesinashed said it was a tannerin which was played by moving a slider. That is correct.
    You went straight into attacking him saying:
    "i think poniesinashed you'l find its called a theremin
    clever clogs,
    this comes from a music tech student
    so don't try and act all clever when you dont actually have a clue"
    Which is quite funny, because you're wrong.
  • dude go get an A in A level music tech then i'l listen to you. for fucks sake my argument was its not a tannerin its a theremin, which is correct, yea tennerin is another word for a different kind of the same instrument that they DIDN'T use during the recording of this track
  • lol
  • I think SgtHooF, you'll find it is a Tannerin, clever clogs. This comes from a music tech student, so don't attack poniesinashed when you don't actually have a clue.
    Shmoopydoo is partially correct. A tannerin is a simple oscillator controlled by a slide and it sounds similar to a theremin, but not the same. It's not particularly related to a theremin though.
  • What CD is this version on?
  • cool i never heart the long version
    verry niceeeeeee beter than the small 1
  • why are you here then?
  • beach boys and rolling stones are to completely different bands, you clearly dont like the beach boys style... keep ur shit to yourself :)
    theres too many fans for someone petty like you to come here and diss k thanks bye
  • bet you must be like, 15 years old? I was like that in my teens...hey, this band is better than yours etc. crap! GROW UP!
