Yes everyone has an accent, obviously. But it's no secret that when American TV shows have "Canadian" characters on their shows the accent is absolutely ridiculous. I've never heard anyone speak that way except New Foundlanders.

At the same time, on many American shows, casting directors often look for Canadians because they have clear diction and don't garble their words.

@Dashielus Not all Newfoundlanders have accents... I'm from Newfoundland and the only times I have come across true "Newfie" accents are some of the older generations living in the more remote bay towns... Just saying...

how the hell do canadians have accents? theres maritime accents but you can barely understand them.

americans have about 4 different accents, canadians have a normal voice and the maritime accent

there's a BBC Documentary called "Speaking Canadian" where they talked about the Canadian accent

and yes, there's the Maritime accent, Montreal, Quebecois, WestCoast accent, Toronto accent, etc etc

there's a guy on youtube who's from the Northen part of Ontario and he says his "out" like "oat"

everyone is going to say they have the "normal" accent, in which case, really is inexistent

I'm Canadian, I know my accent, I can pick out the difference between an American and Canadian accent by certain words we say and intonation
