  • 55:32 is so great

  • He became a bored board announcer? X>}

  • Carlin and Robin are best because they evolved there minds in solitude!

  • Wow, amazing stuff, thank you so much for posting!

  • George Carlin was more than Comical Genius he was a social thinker,a legend..he was never afraid to speak the truth.this set him apart from other comedians.

  • Jester, Philosopher, Poet :)

  • Even after all the hours I've listened to him, this old fucker never gets old to me. I love you, George.

  • Damn you george why'd you have to go die on me.....the only true legend i know

  • 26:24- 24:45 For those never tried being a comic, you'll never know this feeling. I've had those kind of nights; I mean no disrespect to anyone, but few of you will know how incredibly disheartening it is to hear silence in a room with 150 people after delivering a punchline you thought would kill.

But George comes as close as I think possible in this description. Not trying to sound dramatic, but look close. You can see a glimmer of despair and pain in his eyes 40 years later. That says a lot.

  • 12:10 when he talks about Hollywood.... that's such an intense moment, he seems to be lacking words, very emotional.... he was the real deal!

  • well, I was fucking Jack's mother at the time...

    genius

  • THUMBS UP if u only clicked on ths video because it was an hour long

  • He was lightyears ahead of his time. I think it's sort of diminishing to refer to Carlin as a "comic." He is so much more than that. His words are just as academic, concise, and piercing as the most versed philosophers, scholars, and writers. He's a true humanitarian - he cares about individual people, not groups, he cares about truth, not deception and falsehood, and ultimately he values life, not property. It hurts me to know he's gone, but it comforts me to know that he was ever here at all.

  • ٩(̾●̮̮̃̾•̃̾)۶

  • i am watching in awe because i am watching the single most awesome individual in history.George Carlin.the man him self.and btw @Baldurpet if George saw you type r.i.p he would kick you in the nuts.he knows and we know that hes worm-food.

  • what's the background sound at 11:52???

  • I am so glad that I was able to see a live performance from George in my lifetime..

  • I've never been able to watch/listen to an interview that is this long. But this interview was amazing to hear. Such a great person.

  • I could listen to him for hours....

  • i fell asleep listenin to this

  • You sir lack the respect to understand this man and his origins.

  • @XxbMcxX23 I find it safe to say that your life is very empty.

  • 26:20

  • @Jmerino7, actually if you insist on labeling kenroy916, you should do so properly. 916 said nothing about believing that there was no god, just that he did not believe in god or religion. Which would make 916 an agnostic. The difference is an atheist claims absolutly that there is no god where as someone who is agnostic claims indifference to the subject all together.

  • no there are various common definitions of atheism. most common one is that atheism is the lack of belief in god, rather than the belief that there is no god. hard vs weak atheism it is.

  • I live in Indianapolis and I get George Carlin. I have seen him twice in Merillville and once in Las Vegas.

  • 20:00 left off

  • 18:00, reminding myslef were i left ogfgf

  • looks like a little devil horn with the stair ramp behind hehehe

  • me too kenroy916 i hear you

  • I wonder if "this piece thats almost finished" - that he talks about around 52:30 - is a piece he used in the special he did before he died. I forget the name, but he does a joke about being an "old fuck" and the perks of being older. "Im 70 now, but I like 69 better. I like to say I'm 69 with a thumb up my ass"

  • I was watching this video and nearing the end I thought to myself, I wonder what kind of comments people have made... and I read your quote "this piece thats almost finished" at the exact same time that he said he it in the vid 0.o

    It was spooky...

  • Carlin was just a natural storyteller. He spoke with such enthusiasm and heart. Such an amazing sequence of events that brough Carlin to the spotlight, events that affected us all in a great way. George Carlin was without a doubt one of the all-time greatest entertainers in human history.

  • wow what a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG interview! THANK u so much for posting that!

  • @DerEddi yep, so long

  • it just goes to sure that the older u get the more better u become on what u do

  • george carlin is the reason im an atheist.

  • @connaught2008

im an ateist because i don`t believe in god...

  • @connaught2008 ya me too dude. i think he has inspired tons of people to question religion. hes inspired tons of people to think for themselves.

  • amen haha

  • @connaught2008 why do you have to be anything. I don't believe in any god or religion of any kind. However, i also don't categorize myself. I don't represent atheism simply because when you give a belief a name it just becomes another religion. back to square one

  • @kenroy916 You are still atheist, but i do not go around saying become an atheist we have cookies you know. I don't represented either.

  • very smart man

  • I could listen to him talk for hours!

It's kind of sad thinking that such a great man is dead while there a so many fucktards alive and well. If there's anyone that deserves to live...

RIP Carlin, you made the world a little brighter.

  • so true.. so true

  • @Baldurpet He made the world brighter by showing us how dirty it really is.

  • that's not really a fair comment. he did live a long life.

  • @Baldurpet, although I wouldn't think he was, you never know if Georgie was like in private. Maybe for all we know he was the worst fucktard ever, but probably not:-)

  • @Baldurpet

Like Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Clinton (s) and obama

  • @Baldurpet when people get older they die, and a lot of those "fucktards" are children. now go die :)

  • @Baldurpet if for you world is grey, then for what do you live? If you aren't too inteligent then world is beautiful for you. This is the reason...i thing that world is better when you people are more stupid...Not so stupid like in MTV,but not so inteligent like Bill Hicks...

  • @Baldurpet '

I don't think human beings should ever be inclined to judge between life and death...:-/

  • @Baldurpet True, however such is life, enjoy the memories and live hard. You can only take your memories to the grave.

  • just listen to some Lenny Bruce bits, he used to be really revolutionary in that time, he got arrested a million times for stuff that is usual nowadays, a pioneer among his peers

  • I dig this channel. This is the essence of human history - story telling.

So long as this is attainable people of next generations can get a sense of the past, and a sense of someone's interesting life-journey of past times.

This channel is more valuable than they maybe get credit for.

But these important people must know it's value -- otherwise they wouldn't participate.

  • TV-Y? For Carlin?

  • You go to boston, you take a shit, and I'm going to go to the legal department!

  • holy shit...(microsoft) or(tinylimp)...what a fucking ingenious name for a company who asks you to report your problems(tinylimp) to the very company who is fucking it up??? god i wish george could go off on microlimp

  • @Themaddog780, who else would you report the problems too? if you report it to the creators they work to fix it.

  • Is there any question that this man is a polished genius? No. Yet he gives it to you ROUGH...but smooth, everything great - is George Carlin!

  • its funny that he cut of the cardinal... pure gold.

  • Wow, 22 and you meet Lenny Bruce!!! U lucky old fuck...RIP

  • Don't agree with his worldview, but he gives a darn great interview packed with historical tidbits.

  • What kind of douche uses the term "worldview", oh yeah, there you are.

  • I love this man so much. Even as a dead old fuck he's the best person on this planet.. I'm a high school student and I swear I've learned more from him than I have from any school I've been to. I hope one day I can do what he does but that dream is probably too unrealistic.

  • I hope you do mate as this world is lacking men of this nature now days, George Carlin and Bill Hicks are 2 of the most intelligent funny and charismatic guys and the world is a sadder place without them.

  • i dont think the dream is the problem, if your already self depricating on you tube....

  • DeprEcating. Yes, I am an English Professor of University of Youtube.

  • English Professor of THE University of Youtube. Sorry for correcting you professor, I will let you take over from here.

  • Oh man that made me laugh :D

    Good one

  • Nothing is too unrealistic. George Carlin proves that. Do what you love

  • Anything is possible, just challenge yourself...

Bill Maher is the closes thing to George Carlin...

  • No, Bill Maher is a sniveling weasel, who's "political/social commentary" is a collection of passive-aggressive jabs released before a crowd that will clap at absolutely anything they hear over a microphone.

  • Absolutely correct.

  • i love bill maher. dont care what ya think.

  • thats show business for ya'...wake up.

  • Amen!

  • But it's funny how people rage over it.

  • Just don't let yourself be fucked, that's all you need to be like Carlin I'd dare say. He didn't let people fuck with him, fuck no.

  • @lynusluver

You know, we all come across so many moronic posts on youtube, that, when someone says something like lynusluver does, it takes you by surprise.

While I'm only 25, there is definitely a generation divide between me and a highschool student these days. But it does my heart good to know that there are younger people out there, trying to educate themselves about the world. And I mean ACTUALLY educate themselves about the world...not just passively accept what is fed to them.

  • @lynusluver I was the same way when I was in highschool

  • @lynusluver no good dream ever is.

  • @lynusluver hey, it may be improbable, and everybody and his friggin' brother will tell ya it's unrealistic.........but NOTHING is impossible!!!.....you go on and do your thing and make George proud!!..........he IS watching ya!!.........peace!!

  • @lynusluver dude your a little fucking disrespectful fucker! And a idiot you say you love him but yet bash him...You got some growing up to do kiddo!

  • Where is Richard Jeni mentioned in this?

  • 08:00 This is why you have to dream young ones. You have to dream BIG dreams

  • TV LEGENDS, Thank you very much for posting this! Good Karma is headed your way!

  • Even his interviews are interesting as hell

  • 17:52

  • the jack parr bit sound a bit like Smodcast... Geniuses think alike mr. carlin

  • Maybe someday I'll write a book about Carlin and title it, "You Go to Boston, You Take a Shit, and I'm Going to the Legal Department!"

  • @SkilesASMB Yes, brilliant idea. Need a co-writer?

  • Yeah, I bet he became that intelligent BECAUSE he left high-school. The left-brain oriented western education system is a crime to the human mind. You might become knowledgable and intellectual. But that´s 100% useless unless you have intelligence to deal with it. It seems to me that Carlin was a strong character that didn´t get brainwashed.

  • You talk lot of nonsense ,, if Carlin heard you he would say "you are full of shit"

  • George Carlin dropped out of highschool, but by listening to his acts, and especcialy this interview, you can tell that he was a very inteligent person.

I laughed when he said that he cut off the Pope. That is funny stuff

  • Fantastic. What a man!!

  • I think bill maher once said that dark side of the moon was worth 100 dead kids. If thats the case then George Carlin is worth an infinite number of dead kids.

  • It's amazing he can remember his past. Amazing.

Herbert Bergoff. I was just trying to remember him when I was in Manhattan and he just said the guy's name. Sandy Dennis was directing some scenes there and it was wonderful. Thank you George. Thank you.

  • It's funny because authorities would probably call LSD a values destroying drug. LSD is a values changing drug... it makes you realize that all the material bullshit crammed down your throat from cradle to grave is just that, bullshit. It makes you value people, not things. It makes you realize how disgusting war is. It makes you question the world around you. That's why those with power hate it. It makes you not want to play into their game. It changed my life for the better.

  • Didn't do LSD but realized it with weed.

  • My parents did enough acid to pass it on to me biologically i guess.

  • Don't forget the magic mushrooms!

  • TV Legends is the best channel on YT.

Yes, I'm blatantly plugging the channel on its own channel.

    This is LEGENDARY truly.

  • So young George waits for an hour in the rain to meet Danny Kaye and gets dissed and dismissed... a crushing blow from his idol. Years later after Carlin is an established comedian, he meets Kaye and DOESN'T tell him about that incident. "That was my gift to HIM. I didn't tell him about it."

What a class act. I sure miss this guy.

  • haha it says TV-Y but its Carlin! FAIL

  • My favorite part is 8:21 - 8:27

    So true.

  • iwhat happened to his partner??

  • Jack Burns is still alive, he just drifted out of fame after they split.

  • i miss him one of a kind it sux when good people go

  • I'm never too big on watching the 30min-1hr. videos on YouTube, but when it comes to Carlin and Frank Zappa, I'm immediately watching. He was such a genius.

  • Those two are my biggest Idols man!

  • Was Carlin ever a fan of Zappa or vice versa?

  • I can't imagine them not having huge respect for one another and what they were doing.

  • Acid made him who he is. Acid is a hell of a drug.

  • AMEN! for lack of a better term! lol

  • The story of a fine comedian!!!! most have died but he is one that will always be a fine comedian!!!

  • omg! 666 ratings!!!

  • this man is the man!

  • Probably the most articulate human I've ever seen.

    One of the good guys.

  • its all part of the big electron.

it doesn't judge, it doesn't reward.. it just is....his energy is all over!!!

  • Nobody says "don't give a shit" like George Carlin. This interview gives me the idea that he is not dead.

  • "when we´re dead and drinking champagne with George in infinty" i will be the happiest then! peace & love 1

  • George Carlin is an Atheist so he doesn't believe in god, heaven,or hell.

  • Actually, he didn't consider himself an atheist. Part of the reason is because he never saw himself 'part of the group'. Also he didn't believe in 'God" as the fictional charachter in the bible, but he thought that there was something, the big electron he called it, that we could never understand. A type of semi-concious being or energy force. But for the most part, yes you are right he wasn't foolish enough to believe in forever salvation or damnation.

  • Anyone who thumbs this comment down doesn't know shit about Carlin.

  • What you describe sounds very simular to Lao Tzu's Tao (The Way)

  • Tao doesn't mean "the way"

    It's energy.

Tao Te Ching is, THE WAY.

And it's also the name of Lao's book.

  • I love these long interviews with Carlin. I always find little bits of advice that help me with my own comedy writing. He affected so many of us so strongly.

  • amen to that bro!!!

  • This is what humans are supposed to be like

  • it's awesome to hear him laugh and see him reminiscing 19:25

  • Truly a great comedian, Never will there be another that can articulate the intelligent liberal and funny skits George could pull out, Not only could he make you suffer from split sides but he really made you think.. such a rare gem he was.. with that said i will not say goodbye to this great man but only..

Gee, He was here just a minute ago..

  • One of the greatest, if not the singularly greatest, comedians/intellects to ever grace the world. We all died a little inside, the day he passed.

  • We were spoiled when he was alive. :(

  • "I write my own materials!!"... the authentic comedian.

  • he should have got more attention then MJ... even tough i don´t think we should celebrate the dead... there will be much time for that later(when we´re dead and drinking champagne with George in infinty)

  • He should have not gotten MORE attention, but He should have gotten the same amount attention. George's impact was HUGE but people are mostly stupid and George's message frightened them. MJ was wonderful and posibly the most known man ever. George C had anMJ effect on his TRUE fans (like Myself), but his message fell short to the ignorant. I miss George...

  • Hail George Carlin, u are my hero George, maybe even my God now. We all miss u. RIP.

  • I wonder if he knew the end was near? To record your life like this is a real gift to all his fans. He was a genius that we all loved.

I miss him and my daughter was also a huge fan. That was the genius of his talent, it attracted all ages.

  • I think he knew that he was close to death. It's a fakt that some people have some kind of senors for things like that. If you look at his last HBO special, wich was recorded a few months later than this interview, you'll see that he was in bad physical shape at this time. I think he knew that something was coming up.

  • ... so? Didn't help. Apparently the fact that you've noticed Carlin's meager physical condition did not slow Carlin's heart disease down. In fact, you might've contributed to his death.

How do you live with yourself?

  • LOL that was the BEST!

  • he was like 70 or somthing he saw it coming he didnt really care

  • "You go to Boston, You take a shit, I'm going to the Legal Department"

    Hahaha!

    Classic!

  • Fucking great.

  • it really is a breath of fresh air to learn about an intelligent and gifted mans story. I was totally glued to the video.

  • genius! cant say more. The world is a better place because of this man. Im sure he would be proud.

  • Man, do I ever miss this guy!

  • I'm so glad this was released in it's entire form. To edit it would be a crime against humanity!

  • He's talking about the law of attraction what you think about you bring about

  • how a bout part 2 of 6?

  • cool, the double rainbow in my home-state. :)

  • 19:05 - 19:30 LOL!

    Love this man, or die!

  • hppy b day george

  • Super epic George Carlin philosophy at 45:45 and on going..

  • The Archive of American Television interviewed dozens of actors, directors, producers, in extended sessions like this for their archives. Click on the "TVLEGENDS" logo on the upper right to see the extensive list, most of which are available on YouTube. Carlin was asked to participate and this ends up being one of the most remarkable insights into his career. Highly recommended viewing/listening (I put it on my Ipod)

  • he probably knew at this point that he was dying of cancer and was simply documenting his experience...he was a genius

  • cancer? what cancer? carlin had heart problems. he suffered multiple attacks in his life.

  • George Carlin is in hell, but that's cuz he's one funny motherfucker!! Satan gets all the good stuff....

  • Hes "rattling on about himself because the people who worship him as a human being and philosopher, comedien , author poet , pioneering stand-up, he's a true genius and I could listen to him rattling on all day, besides this interview is one of his last , and the most definitive...

  • I'm sorry, but for someone 'on the edge', he don't 'alf like rattling on about HIMSELF!!!!!

  • This is a great interview. TV Legends have done a very good thing.

  • George Carlin did more to influence American society and represent the realities of the world more than anyone else. The public sucks... Fuck hope

  • hey you guys!, we don't have George Carlin over here in England, london , was he really as edgy as you doods claim or was he really as comfortable as Bing Crosby giving Dean Martin a blow job?

  • he was famous before the internet came around.

  • he's kinda like billy conolly... not very peecee as you say...

  • you mean he made a living in Britain as the media's favourite working-class Glaswegian, before earning enough money to leave Glasgow and working-class people behind and live in luxury in America with a glamorous comedienne wife called Pamela?

  • Modern "edgy" acts are edgy for the sake of it, just trying to be shocking and confrontational, seeing how far they can push the audience.

Georgie here was a natural force of ideas that the average person hadn't considered, or simply didn't look at that way. Thus he was edgy in that he was truly shocking in the ideas he presented, and the views he expounded upon.

He was not "DEAD BABY, EH? EH? EH? EDGY!!!!"

  • He is the Jonathan Swift of our time- for example "A Modest Proposal" is a disturbingly hilarious and satirical social commentary on Irish poverty and over-population (I could get into detail but, the words escape me). George Carlin's pieces are just that, perhaps not a pamphleteer for 'fucking' liberals but, as a philosopher of Sociology with comedic charm.

  • Agree with most everything you said 'Analwave'; but Carlin's comedy is Killer.

  • George Carlin changed my life, may he continue to influence us for decades to come...

  • ol' maggot brain

  • These interviews with George have changed my life. That may sound like a stupid thing to say but no bullshit.

Your One of a kind george. thankyou

    x

  • I just can't get enough. A godsend for someone laid up with a broken leg. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

  • This is fantastic. Thanks for putting this up!
