I can't believe the eagles redid this it sucks hardcore they should definetly it to Osborne brothers Bobby could sing this better on his dying day don't change something that's perfect them playing this is like whipping before you poop what since does that make
Bowtie, Meisner and Leadon grew up listening to the Osbourne Bros.!! I think the Osbournes would be proud that the Eagles have their version of it! I find myself still singing this song for the past 40 years and I love both versions. Why don't you like the Eagles version? Randy Meisner's voice was made for this song! Man, it's one of my all-time Eagle favorites. On The Border was a super album in my opinion. I guess because FM radio didn't beat it to death!
Beats the Eagles to death, but you can't beat this lineup of the Osbornes -- Blaine Sprouse, Paul Brewster, and JD Brock are still some of the best in the business. Thanks so much for posting these clips. They're some of my favorites.
it makes me so sick that a good grass record might sale a few thousand copies and all this crap pop sales millions it makes no since that the most talented are the least appriciated and the rap oh thats another story hey i can talk fast to
Sonny & Bobby are a class act, no doubt about it! One of my favorite tunes. Too bad their fiddler du jour, Blaine Sprouse, wasn't as classy: borrowed $40,000 from us in 2008, repaid $1076 that year and stopped payment a few weeks ago on a $300 check. Nice guy? NOT. In his case, talent will never replace class. We paid HIS bills and now he's travelin' on...LOL! Sprouse could play, just a shame his character flaws were so well hidden that old friends like us were taken to the cleaners by him!
Are you sure of the fiddler? He sure looks like a musician named Rick Campbell. He played with Del McCoury band in the mid eighties along with Paul Sylvius and Del's brother Jerry. Look at the Del videos on this site. There are some from that era taped in Alabama.
But, I may be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.
@horsefeathers38506 Well you ARE wrong. Sorry...The fiddler in this particluar video is indeed my former long-time friend, Elijah Blaine Sprouse. Google him up for some more fun reading! :-) And BTW, if you have any more questions, just ask...I won't lie because I have no need to do so, unlike former fiddle pal Blaine Sprouse. :-)))
Take a dose of Bob Dylan, shake it with some Beatles, and cover it with the Rolling Stones attitude, and you have the most brilliant music ever made. Applacia style...that would be Osborne Brothers. pure Americana...
As time goes on, this song is becoming my favorite of all the Osborne Bros. stuff. Is that Blaine Sprouse on fiddle? Who's playing the bass? Very tight sound on this, and great '70's attire. Classic. Oh, and that banjo Sonny's playing is the ultimate banjo of the universe. It is the Holy Grail of banjos. It's what Earl Scruggs' banjo used to be; in fact, they were made in the same batch, same model. Sonny's is still all original.
My great-grandparents were all from Kentucky! After the Civil War they all moved to KS. to homestead. There were 40 of them! I heard they were really hillbillies, moonshine and all! I'm proud of my Kentucky roots!
my grandma went to school with Sonny and Bobby, ive picked with Bobby numerous times

This is a really good job by the Osborne Brothers, BUT I still like the Eagles version better! Just a rocker at heart I guess.

Why you need to compare this (which is indeed brilliant, I'll grant that) to rock n roll I have no idea.

J.D. Brock is playing bass. Quite one of the best electric bass players in bluegrass/country of all time.
Boj6987 2 years ago 5
Might also mention that J.D. Brock's dad is JIm brock who played with Jim and Jesse for a good while.
