This movie is one of my all time favorites (in the horror genre), with a unique dreamlike atmosphere combined with an excellent soundtrack!

Jennifer Connelly also looked so incredibly beautiful here, truly a revelation for the eyes, and her presence was essential in making Phenomena something really special.

If you want to experience the most complete version of Phenomena, then I recommend UK distributor Arrow's Blu-ray, which is the best looking release of this movie I have seen so far.

@EddieEddieEddie90 That is because Clock Tower uses many elements and themes that were used in Phenomena. The character Jennifer was based on Jennifer Connelly in this film. Bobby, the scissorman killer, is based on the murderous boy with the deformed face in the movie (Patua). The crazy, insane mother is based on the one in this film (Frau Bruckner). And the scissors as the weapon was a references as the murder weapon used in the opening murder scene in the movie.

When I'm listening this music, somehow I'm feeling that music tells enemies's victims's (Frau and Patua) sad goodbye. I mean, that sometimes people cannot be honest to themselves due to their selfish, who tries live as "perfect". It was theorize, that Patua was killed young girls due to his disease and therefore he kills everyone, who doesn't love each others at all or I say unloving life.

7 billion people in this world are not honest themselves at all...

This film has inspired both the Saw and Scream franchises so far since James Wan and Kevin Williamson are huge fans of Argento and used his works for their films. This is one good gory horror fairy tale in the tradition of Carrie meets New York Ripper and Grimm's Brothers. I had a thing for Connelly always since i was a kid with Labyrinth and this one when i was a young teen when i rented this.

great video! I think if Snowwhite would exist, it would be Jennifer Connelly. In the last scene when Jennifer walks with the fly to the house, it's just like the fairytale. Well, a eerie fairytale.

Also the beginning is amazing of Phenomena with Fiore Argento walking the same path, but she doesn't find shelter, but a monster instead!

that really sucks. i just worked on a movie for a few days that she is in. i never got to speak to her (I was just a production assistant) but i held the door open for her twice and and she walked by just about three feet away many times

I don't get why Phenomena gets such a bad rap, it's my favorite Dario Argento film, and I'm a big fan of his work.

Actually it does not, Phenomena has been inspiration for a lot of producers

That's nice to hear. I don't really know what's its status among people involved in the industry, I just see a lot of film buffs hating on it and often people say that it's one of Argento's worse films (at least among his older ones). I don't get where they're coming from at all, I think it's a lovely movie.

@martena2008 - Wel... actually... the movie did get some bad reviews, including - one of its' harshest - from Alan Jones, author of Profondo Argento, the guy who Bravo interviewed for their 100 Scariest Movie Moments show, did like 3 audio commentaries for Anchor Bay and Blue Underground, and claims that he's been on the set of every Argento film since Tenebre. Not to mention Connelly herself bad mouthed the movie on, I think, David Letterman a couple years ago.

It'll only get a bad rap from young, generation X nitwits that wouldn't know art, or a good film if it were staring them in the face. Judging by it's influence on other films, and gaming (Clock Tower), it's obviously respected.

That was the name of the original, edited U.S. release. Since then they've put the cut footage back in and called it the film by its original title.

Creepers was the name given in the North American release and is actually the dumbed down cut version of Phenomena.
