But bear in mind that he was reviewing the Verizon Galaxy Tab. Int'l version has a few more features that some carriers remove from their OS.

A few things though:

You can use the front-facing camera with the stock camera app. Just tap the shooting mode button in the app and select 'Self Shot'

I didn't quite understand if you meant the Tab cannot play music in the background but just to clarify, it can. AND you can control your music via your notification drawer.

Everyone that I know who owns an Ipad as soon they tried my Samsung Galaxy Tab they feel that they were rip off with the Ipad, mine download the pages like a laptops do, download music more easier than an Ipad, isn't weight too much and fit on my pocket I use it for my work and do everything than the Ipad do and more!

@Ekaiman1 Not here my friend,and i'n not a apple/ipad fanboy,but i did try the galaxy tab.Nope,not for me,Android is so much more laggy and dosn't run as smooth as apple's IOS (even when surfing the internet,android runs a bit chppy and feels it bites your finger when you try to scroll the page or zoom on it,same thnk dosn't happen with ipad ).Besides,i think it's more of a personal preferince rather than "what's the better one" because the better one is the one you make it :P

@27131king as good or better than iPad. While iPad and iPhone may be the premier device, their audio processor is not the best of all of them.  You may even find the music on the galaxy tab to be better. I love Apple products, but they dont always have the best quality audio.

gakaxy tab= perfect size for travel, good amount of apps, 2 nice cameras, and more custimization

ipad=over priced but is great because of size and apps

BUT iPad 2 solves all of ipad 1's problems except for price still

i preffer ipad for entertainment but i preffer Galaxy Tab for easy to handle size and custimization amd now with wifi only version, im sold on the Galaxy Tab!

I had the Galaxy Tab for less then a month and has too many bugs so i sold it. It dont have many apps that are customize for it ,dont have media hub or readers hub. The browser is a #fail.. so I will be getting the ipad soon.

First of all great video lots of info!

But to most of the people saying the ipad sucks or the galaxys feels cheap. They are both amazing tablets the galaxys almost FLAWLESS except for i have at&t sadly and i would have to spend $800.00 for an unlocked one. And some people have to give the ipad a break correct me if im wrong but wasent it the FIRST tablet on the market so people have to not expect so much from it!

The galaxy tab Does have a phone app. only the american versions dont! and i dont really use it for talking but it did save my ass a few times when my phone battery decides to die, however, a lot of apps require a Phone number to operate like "WhatsApp" or "beluga". and texting on the tab is quite the experience. to my own needs the Galaxy tab kicks the iPad's ass anytime.

@ggelenafe Galaxy tab: Smaller = more portability 1-Flash 10.1 gives a better web browsing experience. 2-reading books feels more natural. 3-android is much more customizable. 4-the front camera is always a plus (never needed the back camera) 5-No ugly interfering and stupid notifications 6-REAL multi-tasking is a must have 7-expandable memory with SD cards. 8-streaming your multimedia could be done through DLNA (you dont have to buy extra accessories)

@cotyevil There is no built in dialer on the Galaxy Tab. Look it up... On T-Mobile you can root it and load new firmware to give you the dialer, but it is not there by default.

By the way, idk about galaxy but ipad(i have one) is constantly glitching wise email, and sometimes app wise, which is very annoying. I hope in future this will be fixed. If samsung would come out earlier id buy samsung over ipad for sure.

So the Galaxy is much more customizable. But notice all the mistakes you made on it while you were doing the video as opposed to the few mistakes you made on the iPad (i'm talking clicking the wrong place, accidentally clicking the wrong thing, typing errors etc.). The touchscreen on apple products are immensely superior to competitors, and that's whats made my mind.

Other companies are always one step ahead of apple (In this case the camera) because Apple comes up with the idea and makes the first one and all the other companies (Like Samsung) copy the idea and make there own but with upgrades from apple version, when the 2nd generation iPad comes out the Galaxy Tab won't have a chance

@DMNBK I am sure it has a GPS built in. Generally the way it works is the 3G can help locate you more quickly and then the GPS narrows it down for precision. GPS antennas use a lot of power so they use this method is all.

Very very good and objective review. Completely honest about the pros and cons of each device. Personally I prefer the galaxy simply because I need a device I can use on the move and back on the sofa table I already have a laptop. And yes the freedom of android compared to IOS is amazing even though the user experience is not quite as good.

Fantastic Smackdown.But imo,its like puttung a Ferrari next to a Bmw.I owned the Dell Streak tablet/smartphone,and the Android marketplace is a poor cousin next to the App store.Customisation on the Ipad if jb is fantastis,with over 10,000 themes in Cydia.As my girl would say,size matters,lol,and the 7" Tab is not that mush bigger than Htcs Desire Hd.When u look at what is coming in january,Acers Tablet lineup,including a Dual screen monster,i think the Tab will be forgotten very soon..

@Peesashiz we browser is the same as it is on the galaxy s phones except a little quicker and support for flash, unless the specific galaxy s phone had froyo which would then mean they are the same. samsung havent done a great job with the ui and browser integration like htc or motorola but its ok. its great when flash isnt running. the gps is great the camera is not professional. however it isnt bad. id say the ipad is smoother browsing and the tab is more complete

@Peesashiz over the ipad, yes simply because it has a camera. however if i were you id wait to see what either google's honeycombe operating system brings or what the ipad 2 will incorporate. i myself would wait for the android gingerbread os as it will be made specifically for tablets aswell as having support for things like flash. it will just be more suited than the oversized ios devices
