One of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands of ALL time. I saw Ian McNabb live a couple of years back at The Academy in Newcastle, he's still got it!
Brilliant song! This version - with the fade-in and without the instrumental passage after the first verse. I've called it my favourite track of the 1980s on more than one occasion.
This one goes out to all members of the Socialist Party of Great Britain and the World Socialist Movement. 'We'll be as we are/When all the fools who doubt us fade away/ fortune deep and wide/Intimidated-restless in the wait'.
Hey, Davey: Be warned: this come across quite loud...
I was reminded of this after my mention of Scott Walker...lead singer has same resonance and tone...There's a live performance somewhere on YouTube which features a great intro from a young and pretty Jools Holland...tee hee! I never pursued this band or its career...there a couple of other good tracks on the one and only album I bought. xxx
What was the b side called?
