I have my bachelors in Finance and like you I just want to help people, so I did decide on Occupational Therapy..so now i'm waiting to see if I got into grad school *insert panicked face* .Aaaaand I'm 27 and I'm still trynna get my life together..I am jealous of your 25 yr status. :)
u're well ahead on the curve for most people your age. Whatever u decide to do, I'm sure it'll be the right choice, and I hope u decide to share. Luv luv luv your hair, and hope your hand feels better.
@maximuslyricus Yup, all OVER the place! Glad it's normal. lol! These are great suggestions especially #2. I never really thought about doing it gradually. My idea of self employment is go big or go home. lol! I suppose that doesn't last long... I will share whichever route I take, probably giving you all updates along the way. Thanks for the suggestions and compliment!!!
I hope my hand gets better too. It's no fun. Hopefully my next job will consist of less typing.
even if its only thru volunteer work and/or classes. Later, when u can afford it, u'll be able to further pursue whatever u've learned that u have an interest in or passion for. 2 I don't know if u have already, but think about the possibility of becoming self employed, even if only for a few hours each week. I think that this is the most sure way to financial independence, which leads to freedom to choose to do whatever u desire to do with your life. U've bought a house, so
U sound like u're all over the place regarding your choice of careers - which is absolutely normal for your age. I think a couple of things - 1 Your choice should probably be dictated by your financial needs and your passion/curiosity. If u can afford it, try whatever u want to try. You're young with probably as few responsibilities as u'll ever have, so now is definitely the best time to try new things. If u can't afford it, do what u have to do, but squeeze in time to satisfy your curiosity,
Also the APA or the APS would be great sources to find out all of the avenues you can take towards your goal :-) If I find any other useful info, I'll message you pronto!
Wow you and I are alike in sooo many ways. I'm indecisive, I may kinda have carpal tunnel too, I have trouble with stats, and have a desire to help people. and I'm majoring in psychology for the very same reasons you are. I think it's a good thing you majored in psychology. You can do so many things with that field. And to me, it's kinda scary that you have social workers without a background knowledge of how the brain function.
@Goddess298 :0) Yeah, I kind of know what you mean. But in this field you'll learn it whether you want to or not. It may not be in depth but you'll learn it. If you provide Medicaid funded services you are required to get at least 15 credit hours (?) of training throughout the year. When you are licensed you are also required to go to trainings throughout the year as well. You're welcome. #the book
"Correct?" haha, you are funny. Anyway, I know how you feel about finishing school. I still got a little ways to go. I'm studying engineering but it's funny because I had once considered psychology...and medicine - I like to know how things work (the mind, the body, machinery, etc lol). I also want to help others and I kind of think everyone does; we all just have different ways of doing it. Consider doing some volunteer work in the meantime until you get where your trying to go. It may help :o)
@TheLordsPrecious Thanks... Yep, that's exactly it. Figuring out how we will help and that is my problem. Finding my niche. That's a good suggestion... thanks!!
I'm having the same issue with career decision. I too want to help people and it makes me so undecided. I decided to go into science to help people but I think I should have done couselling based on how many people talk to me. But I don't want to listen to people talk to me all day without useful advice. Its so hard to decide how you want to help people when you don't really care what it is as long as you are helping.
@Istillhavejoy Science is great but I had some difficulty with Biology so I let that go. It's weird because it interests me but I just can't get into it. I think I did better in Anatomy. I'm really glad I'm not alone in this whole career decision thing. It's just so frustrating when the majority of people around me knows what they want to do in life. Your last statement is really what causes the most difficulty for me. I don't care how I do it I just want to help.

P.S. @1:06 - I would mind hearing the first part (i.e., how you decided, etc.). But I might be alone lol. Just thought I'd say that.

@TheLordsPrecious I think I did talk about that some. But if I really don't answer your question in the video, feel free to ask me again. :0)

@jaybby04 Ok, thanks!
And I meant to write: "I *wouldn't* mind...." (I hate typos)
