John Lee Hooker sat in on the first Santana show I ever went to in San Jose in 1984. He was wearing a purple tuxedo. I saw John Lee about 4 more times before he passed away. When the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake struck, I went to Watsonville where Carlos played a benefit concert at the high school and I remember him playing The Healer. They had a temp drummer, during the drum solo on Soul Sacrifice, he got carried away and drowned everyone out. Armando Peraza gave him the biggest stink-eye.
