it´s true they´re great looking but many guys at Lincoln styling were let go or had their careers sidetracked, why ? people weren´t buying , perhaps the went over the top in the intimidation dept.
What a great series of photos of these magnificent Lincolns and Continentals from 1958 to 1960! The more you see of these cars you realize how they looked so much better than the Cadillac and Imperial from that time.
My uncle had a 58 Lincoln and you would not BELIEVE the
huge amount of fuel those sleds sucked down!
The engines were underpowered for their 5,000+ pounds of
weight so they got something like 4mpg. Even with gas
selling for 19 cents a gallon they cost too much to run.
My uncle let his set in the garage most of the time and
ran his Ford pickup. It upset him too much having to
fill the Lincoln's 25 gallon tank with gas TWICE just to
make the 150 miles to our house for a visit.
