with any great band there are so many great tunes u never heard on radio. eg this one make me a pg on a clssic rock station. and that station is #1 My piont exile #1 let it bleed then stcy fngrs
This song has it all, it's so blusey, the rock, just everything and it shows who the Stones really are. It just flows. Musically and lyrically it is phenomenal. I LOVE it and always have! One of my all time favs.
Yeah. Sgt Peppers was really "bouncy." Rubber Soul was "bouncy." Revolver was "bouncy." The White Album was bouncy. Abbey Road extremely bouncy. In the 100 Top albums rated by Rolling Stone Magazine the Beatles had 3 of the top 6 and 4 in the top ten. The Stones had 0. 1,000 years from now when they put out the definitive book on Rock and Roll The Beatles will be on the cover...........not the Stones. Wanna bet?? {I'll take your money.}
@kentucy9999 who cares fuck the critics. exile still the best rock album ever to me. the critics didnt like this when it first came out oviously the were smoking crack assholes. rolling stone magazine is a joke now anyway fuck it
@awhiteman1986 I love this album. Its my favorite Stones album. I love the Mick Taylor era with the Stones. Why bring up the Beatles in a comment? That was my point. What does this album or song have to do with the Beatles? It is like me saying "I always knew Abraham Lincoln was a better President than George Washington." Gotta tell you though. The Stones always were conscious of the Beatles. The Beatles were never conscious of the Stones. The Stones didn't register on their radar screen.
That's a cracking number. I love many bands but the Stones epitomise, for me, the true spirit of rock stardom. They got it all: the history, Altamont, etc, the image and the songs that carried a generation. So, okay, they're long past their best but Jesus, look what they gave us!
@TATELANDDOG well they can hate on me all they want but i got a mind of my own and i use it well. The Stones are better ,always have been! I don't follow everyone else or let them think for me. The beatles are overrated VERY overrated.
@imaStonesFan The Stones are great. So are the Beatles. Both of those bands would agree wholeheartedly. It's stupid to tear down a great band to make another great band sound better, and it doesn't reflect well on you. The Beatles and the Stones did different things and did them extremely well. And we're all the richer for it.
@Cardelaneous Im not taring anything down. I just dont like the beatles and that's the way it is. If you like them fine but i dont and i do not want to be FORCED to not be myself and honest.
@Cardelaneous What happen to freedom of speech and expression. I only agreed with what this guy said and that he is not alone cause i too think the stones kick beatles ass.
@Cardelaneous they were very different bands, I agree. I like the Stones more, but no one can deny the musical relevance of the Beatles. History is history, no matter what your taste is.
@MultiDannyboy89 I would like to add though, that I think the Beatles were kinda lucky to gain the fame they did. They just, well, they caught on with the masses.
@MrRobin14669 I didn't know this, but I suppose the reason might be the same as why they also choose to ignore it in all their concerts (The Stones never played it live): this album version is too perfect; don't want to even go there.
@lindseywagners Yes, it's a difficult song to play live. I guess Lisa Fisher and Bernard Fowler could provide decent backing vocals if the Stones choose to play it on their 50th anniversary tour, next year. Everytime I hear this song it brings shivers down my spine. Too gorgeous. Mick found inspiration for the first line 'Who's that woman on your arm, all dressed up to do you harm' while watching Brian Jones falling apart in the late sixties.
@MrRobin14669 The song isn't mentioned on the Exile dvd, either. Mick said this: "I think Keith wrote that actually. That's a very weird, difficult song. I had a whole other set of lyrics to it, but they got lost by the wayside. I don't think that song has any semblance of meaning. It's one of those rambling songs. I didn't really understand what it was about, after the event." He used "difficult" like you did, but is this the reason they've never performed it live?
@lindseywagners Where did you read Mick's comment on the song? Very interesting that he mentioned Keith wrote the song actually. But I do hear some resemblances with Sleep Tonight (a song Keith wrote for the Dirty Work album) especially for the gospel-like vocal arrangement. Maybe Mick wrote the lyrics in a subsconciously way. I guess it's difficult to perform this song live, because of the backing vocals and the way Mick sings it. I wonder if he can pull off the same sort of emotion on stage.
@MrRobin14669 The quote is from Uncut magazine. You can google it, because it won't allow me to post the link. Some quotes from other band members give the impression - it's really more than an impression - that Mick doesn't remember things, so maybe he isn't remembering correctly. I think it would be very hard to pull off the same emotion on stage.
Una de las mejores canciones del Exile on Main Streets que es uno de los cuatro mejores discos de los Stones. Muchos lo consideran el mejor, aunque a mí me gusta mucho el Let it bleed y el Sticky Fingers.
It`s weird how nobody knows about songs like this. Everybody knows "Start Me Up" and "Satisfaction". Those are great, but for me, this is the rolling stones at their greatest.
Exile was Stones most truest release,,,altho trashed when it first came out, later was recognized as probably their best,,,real, no hit making formula record, with nothing but real musicianship; they played for themselves on this one,,,sure glad they did,,,always my fave R.S. record,,,man, were the critics ever wrong,,,lot of them ate crow later on,,,
@sfshinz Nicky Hopkins was also on this album wasn't he? I had the tape, then the CD, but not the most recent re-release. This track is amazing, ain't it?
@MetallicBill Nicky Hopkins played piano throughout; Billy Preston played piano (and organ) on "Shine a Light", which I confused with "Let it Loose" in my mind. Mea culpa.

Nicky was with the Stones from 1966 til he died Sept 6th, 1994, when there wasn't much work, they let the master take over, Ian Stewart tinkle the ivories, they had bottom and top, no worries mate.......freak
I remember picking up this album and looking at it at Korvette's when I was a kid. I thought it was a weird cover. I had no clue what was inside the cover back then...
The rolling stones....Not even gonna try to come up with any kind of bold statement about how great they were...only because words cant describe something as magical as the rolling stones.
@h34th3n Easily. But Nicky was all over the place, especially during that period. Listen to his playing on Lennon's Jealous Guy. It's beyond brilliant....
Reminds me of Blackhole Sun by Soundgarden. This is one of the standout tracks for me. Piano actually works well with this, which actually reminds me of another song Handbags & Gladrags.
Man, Mick's vocals on this album were the best he ever did, in my opinion. He claimed it was hard to sing at Nellcote because of the humidity, but maybe that brings out the best in him. Fuck man.. I just bought the Vinyl reissue of Exile on Main Street. What a fuckin' album man Jesus. Music like this just is not being made these days. Mick & Keith = Rock n Roll.
In '77, my Dad gave me his copy of "Rolling Stones' Greatest Hits" when I was 11. Since then, I've acquired almost every album they've recorded. And...if this makes any sense - "Rolling Stones' albums are ALL BETTER THAN EACH OTHER," depending on your mood!!! A magical band! They NEVER cease to amaze the listener! Their songs bring out every emotion a person could possibly have, but, in the end, leave the listener with much "Satisfaction!" :) They enriched the listening world! :)
Este tema siempre me hace humedecer los ojos, llega como un rayo en la oscuridad a emociones enterradas bien profundo. Amo este disco y amo este tema.

Their songs bring out every emotion a person could possibly have, but, in the end, leave the listener with much "Satisfaction!" :) They enriched the listening world! :)
