  • looking at this just before my grading

  • unas de mis katas favoritas... en verdad tiene talento :D

  • secondo me non lo fa bene...

  • I love this guy, he is our head master, because I'm in the karate group as well. It's awesome!!!!!!!!!! =)

  • Buuhinhiubihu

  • These videos are extremely helpful in while training at home especially when learning a new kata. However, these vids look as if they were filmed during the 70's and since then, some of the katas have been revised and slightly changed. Even still, it's proven very helpful. I can learn all the moves of my new kata within the first day or two of getting my new belt and spend the rest of the time perfecting the moves before testing for my next belt.

  • 25 son obesos y con envidia

  • damn this is the kata im learnin right now its hard, i need to pick up the speed and i think i know what im doing wrong now whats causin me to not be that fast when i watched this true master of karate perform this kata this guy is a beast haha and i have testin in february im kinda nervous but i learned not to be nervous in anything so im not really that nervous even in real fights.

  • I know all the Heian Kata's except for this one. I do shotokan karate and almost green belt. every three months we get a new belt. 4 belts each year. we get tips per month so im not gonna count the tips.

    Our belts:

    white,yellow,orange,high orange,green,high green,purple,high purple,brown,black.

  • @TheCastofComedy In my case we have white, yellow, orange, red, green, blue, brown, black, and up to 5th dan, but we have more time between belts. 3 months each between w, y & o, 6 months between o&r, r&g, and the 12 months between g & bl, 18 months between bl and br and 2 years between br and blck.

  • Kara-Te is everything you guys are saying.. the only thing yall are missing is.. karate is mostly about being empty minded so the practice you have endured becomes reaction and not thought out.. muscle memory and not pre-meditated.. until your mind is in the true void.. you are being defeated by yourself..

  • da joinha ae

  • what belt are you 3or 4 degree?

  • @smartyoff2010 that guy is 10nth dan if that matters to you

  • 0:10 Kata start

  • karate is not a sport, karate is not self defence. karate is about producing a dynamic single strike that will end a fight.

  • @gixergti I agree that true Karate is not a sport, but I do think it is a form of self defense, it is so much more than that also. As you say it's aim is to produce a blow using the dynamics of the entire body for devastating power. For me it is a battle with myself, to have ultimate control over my entire body and mind.

I feel blessed that I am part of a dojo which teaches true karate instead of those false dojos who spend the whole lesson doing boxercise. Rei and Oss

  • jin kazama...WINS

  • THANK YOU! love it!

  • شو يللي رفع الفيديو عربي؟؟؟؟؟؟

  • 4to kata?

  • what are the meanins to all the katas up to kan ku dai?

  • @berseke6699. I think you mean empi. I need yondan for my purple (5th kyu) godan for purple White stripe (4th kyu) then empi for brown 1 (3rd kyu)

  • whts the name of the kata i think purple belt where u barely move just few steps on diagonal and backwards? thanks

  • thanks, had learned them in school and forgot, helps me re-learn and practice

  • so this is the foundation of pinan sono yon . . . interesting

  • AWESOME! legendary 10.Dan Hirokazu Kanazawa

  • Comment removed

  • Martial arts are more than just self defence. They are about respect, discipline, self control, trust, healthy lifestyle etc.

  • OSU!!

  • naaah he sux coz he cant do Hadoken :O

  • I always hated this kata. :P But here it's done amazingly. Great.

  • Shotokan= Tiger Style

  • @Karapar12 "Shoto" was actually Gichin Funakoshi's (The father of Shotokan) nickname. One day his students put a sign over their dojo which said "Shoto Kan" (Kan meaning "house", i.e The house of Shoto.) Funakoshi never labeled Shotokan Karate as Shotokan, he just called it Karate. :D

  • superb execution

  • it's funy how this kata has changed atleast in the ISKF, During the first movement, insted of step then hands, we move hands and feet together ending at the same time, wich is difficult, and when changeing directions we don't settle into the kokutsudachi until the hands are in motion ending once again at the same time. Just a fun little thought i think both work but the movement either way can be a bitch if you put to much weight on the forward foot.

  • @SekTauBand I don't know for sure, but that looks like Hirokazu Kanazawa performing the Kata. If it is him, by definition, it is correct.

  • @nonfractal that is kanazawa.

  • @SekTauBand lol you know he's 10th dan right? And he was a Student of Gichin Funakoshi, so that means that this must be the original way of doing it, and it has evolved into different styles and ways over time..

  • Comment removed

  • @Florian26king I understand that. my Sensei's master trained under Funakoshi as well. Kanazawa may even know my sensei. he has trained us well, and part of that training is observation of what could be done better. NONE of us are perfect, thats why true Karate is a lifelong pursuit. take it for what it's worth but observation, and pursuit of perfection only make us better.

  • Perfect ending ... on the X again . :DD

  • You guys argue like some schoolgirl bitches lol. This guy has fuckin awesome technique.

  • @buffolosoldier90 you have no life you dont know what karate is and so what if your in wrestling? People in karate even,a white belt could beat you

  • BuffaloSoldier90 = 7th Dan Keyboard warrior!

Dont take him on. He will defeat all of you.

  • So what do you do now?? R u still grabbing other guys dicks?? Or they just shove it in ur mouth.

  • i wrestled for four years in high school and could easily take this guy down and beat his ass. karate is for fags

  • @buffalosoldier90 Oh wow, you wrestled. While I can imagine you would beat alot of people in a fight, and I am not saying you are weak, its just that while you may be able to inflict alot of damage and grapple your opponents well, a 2nd or 3rd Dan black belt is trained to avoid, counter and barrage, while not getting caught up in a flurry of adrenaline. I have seen black belts flooring much bigger men in competitions, because they may not be the strongest in muscle, but they are fast and deadly.

  • @MrJJ4000 lol

  • @buffalosoldier90 Oh yeah? Do you live in Quebec? If it is the case then, contact me after the month of May, when I'll be less busy. We will see who is the strongest: the guy who crash into and grab or the guy who punch and kick.

  • Comment removed

  • @buffalosoldier90 no you couldn't

  • @buffalosoldier90 Ok wrestling sounds really strong. You say karate is for "fags"? Wrestling is just clothed sex I would say. And you are going against another male. and youre saying karate is for fags?

and karate really isnt about strength or beating peoples asses. More about control and showing power in the way of no excessive force. well thats what shotokan is anyway. thats what i was taught. so i would like to see you beat this guy's ass.

  • @alexysXevilXtostito one double leg takedown is all i need and and his karate wont mean shit when hes on his back. plus most people who trained in boxing or muay thai for just a few months can beat the piss outta most karate practicioners who have been "training" this silly "kata" bullshit for years

  • @buffalosoldier90 You are saying bullshit. You will never be able to take down a leg of a Karateka. A real karateka is too fast to fall for that shit. A real Karateka never fall on is back, or I should say: nerver fall at all, because we are training to keep our equilibre center while fighting. Kata is not combat practice, it is the dictionnary of the techniques to see if you are ready to pass to the next level.

  • @buffalosoldier90 But it is maybe too complicate for your weak brain. I would really enjoy to kick your fat ass if you live in Quebec.

  • @4444777777700 like i said, one double leg takedown or even one powerful haymaker are all i need

  • @buffalosoldier90 Haha you dont know the half of it. We are trained to kick ass under any circumstances. while on our back, on our stomach, and even when were hurt. and thats boxing and shit. this is an art. im not saying any one is better but still stop being an ignorant little prick and read up before you try to pull hate comments.

  • @buffalosoldier90 Successfull troll is successfull.

  • @buffalosoldier90

Do not speak of Karate like that. You do not know anything about it.

And if you want to compate styles, grappling is ery effective, however a karateka can kill with one strike. Something for you to consider if you plan on keeping that same shortsighted attitude.

  • @SakuKoivuRocks lol yours was the funniest comment of all

  • @buffalosoldier90 right!

  • @buffalosoldier90 Haha, funny, you know this guy is a 10th dan rank which is the highest black belt level you can get to and he is the only one in the world alive right now. No matter what rank he was though, hes Asian, and you just can't beat Asians. And no matter if you got him on the ground, theres katas which involve getting on the ground too, its called Unsu. Go watch it, he has one too.

  • @Florian26king He's not the only Judan alive. He's just the only living student of Funakoshi Gichin. That, however, says a lot about the authenticity of his Karate.

  • many people judge karate as a sport saying that it's too much "beat the crap out of your opponent" but a true karateka is disciplined and could never harm a bee

  • GO fight with Machida buddy and let's see..

  • @Triskelionchild

Dumbass you know nothing about martial arts

  • Hy!Your Karate rocks! Can you do me a favor?I m practicing Kata too,I have a blue belt and I m learning a Kata named Gyo(I m not sure about the name)....The one that comes after Hean Gondan..and I would really apreciate if you would upload a vid about that Kata.Thank you!

  • @Julezovica I have no issue with Karate as a viable fighting style. I take issue with ppl who claim that their particular style of Karate (namely Kyokushin) is superior to all other styles of Karate. Not only that, but they claim that they're style is the best of all striking styles. And I say #1 if they're so damn bad then why rig the rules in their favor? #2 Since we're talking Japanese then where are the Jap champs? Lots of other nationalities r winning, but no Japs! Hmmmm!

  • @Julezovica Lyoto Machida is Shotokan not Kyokushin and he's half Brazilian at that. Chuck Liddell is a shit style kickboxer and GSP does Karate of some sort. But all of them are cross trained out the ass. They use coaches with ring experience and modern training methods. Loyota could be the only exception but even his Shotokan is modified. So WTF are you talking about?

  • @Julezovica U illiterate? I said, "No Japanese champions...". None of the guys u mention are Japanese (not even Machida)! LOL!

  • iam the don

  • I know this one and i keep being a white belt...

  • @Caisamo

Then learn Kihon and grade dude?

  • i have green.. cant take blue on test :\ in 1996..

  • @Napalm1981 hey....what order do you graduate in meaning what colour belt you start with and the second and so on?im in W.S.K.F. where the order is: white-yellow-orange 2 X green 2 X violet 3 X brown and then all the dan belts!

  • @nightcrawler1971

hm.. shotokan karate :/ what version - i dont know. we have decals with tiger on belts. some people in our club have a wolrd karate passport (i dont have, because it have a some price), calling.. buddha passport (if i writting right :)

    white-yellow-orange-green-blue-purple-brown-brown-brown-black(1 dan) and etc..

  • i know this :D hehe an im orange :D

  • 14 months to black belt OOrbt, congratulations. Which kata were selected for your black belt grading? Surely, if you graded every two months you would have needed 18 months to get to 1st dan? A remarkable feat. What dan are you now and where do you teach?

  • Comment removed

  • @00rbt mcdojo

  • @00rbt *Cough* McDojo. I could shit on a white belt and call it black, and it would be worth more than yours.

  • Comment removed

  • Have to learn this kata for my next grading (green belt / 6th kyu at the moment). Looks a bit more complicated than the first 3 katas that I had to learn.

  • @cazaimex i knew this kata on yellow/white belt lol

  • @cazaimex It is, and it isn't all at the same time. It's just putting things you already know into a different sequence. I am green 6th the now, and have my grading on Sunday. To be honest, I much prefer this one over Heian Sandan.

  • oss

  • lol did he just say PANTS!!! ON 0:56

  • Being Graded today on this Kata. Going for purple belt (fingers crossed)

  • @MrBenOzzy So how did it go?

  • Me gusto este kata para cinta azul. Creo que necesita mas kime, fuerza y entusiasmo, las figuras estan bien logradas, pero al conjunto le falta algo

  • uuu mi cta para verdius altaa

  • This is my kata for my grading next weekend, I think this has been my favourite kata so far.

  • What matters is the karateka. Who discusses the style does not deserve attention

  • @BondeDoRafa absolutely right!

  • Best techique I've ever see

  • 0:33-0:35 amazing technique!

  • this was weak

  • OSS !

  • that's not a black belt kokutsu

  • It's hard not to hunch your back when kicking. 3 years of karate and Istill struggle to not hunch my back :|

  • he hunches his back when he kicks, form is sloppy, and too many of those silly cat stances. i hated this style lol

  • @dcosmillo1 Thats hirozako kanazawa. He is 10th dan. He trained under Funakoshi, you know, the man who invented shotokan.... I think he knows what he's doing seeing as he's also head of th SKIF and all. He's 80 years old now and you probably woundnt last half a second against him in kata or kumite.

  • @Mistabutts don't forget to cup his balls while you suck him off cockboy lol karate sucks anyway i got my third dan in shoto. it wasn't for me and they do have terrible kicks. but hand work is good. and yes this guy is sloppy.

  • @dcosmillo1 Karate sucks yet you watch karate videos? Oh and by the way real mature, witty comeback calling me gay and all. I can tell you're a big hit with the ladies.

  • @Mistabutts i wasn't calling you gay i was just saying don't be on the mans nutts like he is a god, jesus don't get thin skin on me. i like some karate but like i said it's more hands. i try to pick up a little of everything, hands, feet, ground work. but for some reason i hate m.m.a kind of odd i think. i meant when it comes to kicking karte is one of the worst styles. they have awesome palm, ridge, finger, and fore arm attacks

  • I Love this Kata, Im doing this Kata for a tournament Kata this weekend :) Dislike the side kick into a front stance my only problem with this kata

  • @flexy270 yeah me 2

  • The open handed blocks in the beginning, I wonder why he does it slowly..

  • @99mag3r99 It's supposed to be done slowly. The whole point of the kata is to teach you about explosiveness, and the hard-soft/fast-slow gradient.

  • i gotta do this tomorrow and heian sandan if my sensi asks it. so nervous......................my first exam in shotokan karate :D

  • Damn he makes it look easy, I've got a lot of work to do.

  • The strongest Karate is Okinawa Karate... In case anyone was wondering.

  • @N00l3ER7 nope its not its irish drunken karate.

  • @Mistabutts lol

  • This is how Yondan should look!!

  • i do karate and i started it when i was 7. lol i am now 12. and still doing karate.

  • Comment removed

  • رائع

  • im testing this for my rank test tomorrow woot woot :D

  • @veyronguy How'd it go? :)

  • @Shindai passed :D

  • 1st movements wrong foots suppose to go in to out

  • This is Hirokazu Kanazawa, a 10 Dan Shotokan Black-belt. Shotokan shouldn't even be compared to the other Karate discplines. Kyokushin is brutal, deadly, but only effective to a certain extent, as in 1 on 1 fights. Shotokan stresses distance, which makes it more effective if attacked by multiple attackers. You defend, disable your opponent with a single killing blow, and then move on to the next opponent. In kyokushin you often take punishment in order to gain tactical advantage.

  • the katas is strong at weak points and a bit slow at places where there should be speed

  • I wanna start learning this one day.

  • Wow, I think that's the best Heian Yondan I've ever seen. It's like way better than I do!

  • Karate means "Empty Handed" in japanese

  • Thanks for the good video.. After 8 years without practicing it I could remember a little bit the good old time I used to practice.

  • Lol its been four months since ive done kratae and these vidoes realy help ^^ im purpal belt hoping to go all the way

  • my ffffffffffffaaaaaaaaaaavvvvvvvvvvv kata omg i learned this at green belt

  • este me tengo q aprender, junto con el nidan y el sandan D:

jajaja la segunda vez q lo hace el primer kyai suena re maraca xD

  • da fk, the moves he does look exactly like the moves in ITF taekwondo

  • 0:46 thanks captin but i think so you must look first before doing the move ;)

  • sexy kata

  • i like this kata

  • kkkk capullos k decis

  • Nice, I do Shotokan-Kenkojuku and it is a tad different but the mechanics are all the same. Very well done. I'd also like to say that there is no style that is better than the other, this is based on bias opinion.

  • cool +555555

  • Karateka must understand that kata was for student and master alike to pass knowledge on to future generations. even kata of all disciplines. To master all kata in all disciplines would require many lifetimes. Karateka should aspire to see all kata collectively as "The Way". If katateka possessed them all, not only would he conquer all opponents, but also himself. That is the ultimate lesson of your grand master.

  • this is my fav kata.... but one of the hardest to execute....to understand what the movements are all about, the back stances, the precise timing.... it'll take my whole life to understand all the katas

  • Comment removed

  • i do shorin ryu :) is it more diff than shotokan?

  • in some aspects. I think pinan yondan ( shorin , wado and shito ryu karate ) and pinan sono yon are basicaly the same kata just different ways of movement in an attemp to do basicaly the same thing

  • just got my green belt Wednesday

  • Thats My Kata Its Soon Heian Godan

My Brothers soon A black belt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Kobefan213: Have u even done Shotokan?

And if u do, how would u know that Shito Ryu is better?

  • I have!!

  • Personally, I train in Shotokan, but it's how seriously you train that matters.

  • im already learning :-) thats why im watching this video. helps a lot! thx

  • I have got to learn these moves someday!

  • Don't wait, go learn! The katas are pretty easy once you learn the underlying movements, because their designed to put those moves together. The katas in turn make each technique make more sense, as well as increasing your fluidity and snap value. Good luck!

Its nice having these on here because between this and running through each kata in my head, I don't have to think when actually trying to perform it, which is as it should be.

  • @JWA8402 Thanks, man.

  • This reeally helps me learn my kata, and i am going to do that alot more in futre.

  • I am doing this Kata and Heian Godan and I have been taught different than what this Kata is.

  • Are you a Shotokan stylist?

  • @Ageusia alot of schools teach katas different i do shotokan karate and am doing this kata is the one tht im focusing the most on but my school has recently combined with another and for instance their hedian shodan and nedian is different than ours u learn the way tht ur sensei was thought ....

  • this was my trump card all the way through world champs.

  • 0:56 haha love it

  • Este kata é de faixa laranja

  • @nian2009

Isso é agora, acho que antes esta kata só se dava aos cintos azuis... O.o

  • @nian2009

eu sou de faixa branca e ja tenho de aprender a fazer este kata! e mesmo complicado

  • this is great!!!!

  • very nice

  • @Arcanum88 I have studied both styles and you are incorrect! whilst it is true that shotokan in some schools is "watered down" to retain a certain roll amount (shameful indeed), and kyokushin has managed to keep a certain "hard" quality in the majority of its schools, the best shotokan fighters match up well with the best of kyokushin. for 1, I would match a prime Elwyn Hall of the famed KUGB with anyone from the best of kyokushin. In addition, Errol Bennett from the bronx ny once fought in..

  • Training in the dojo teaches correct form and technique! If you want to fight then you need to train for fighting. This type of training is over and beyond the training that you get in the dojo. Most ppl work in office buildings all day and take karate classes for 1 or 2 hours a day at most. Full contact fighting requires much more commitment. But if a fighter trains properly for fight full contact and uses modernized training methods then they'll do well.

  • @osensei2987 I don't think you full understand the art of karate enough to see it as being something different then ballet. IN THE DOJO IS WHERE PEOPLE SHOULD BE LEARNING TO FIGHT! when the dojo teaches "correct form and technique" understand the context. in basketball those 2 terms mean one thing, in boxing another thing and in tap dancing yet another. in karate, form is body positon and alignment; technique is a combination of those two along with other elements: speed, power etc to perfect..

  • @osensei2987 2) to percect technique that results in an ability to defend oneself and hurt someone if need be. I personally trained two days per week for 2 hours, sparred after every class and was a part of the KA system of karate which was a full-contact style that fought in a full-contact bareknuckle karate contest in 1975. many years before the ufc. you may want to look at videos of ELWYN HALL, RONNIE CHRISTOPHER, FRANK BRENNAN OF THE KUGB. THEY DID WORK AND THEY LEARNED TO FIGHT IN THE DOJO.

  • @Arcanum88 2) Errol Bennett once fought in a bare-knuckle, everything goes full-contact tournament and stayed with shotokan the entire way winning the middleweight title with a knockout mawashi-geri to the temple. Shotokan "done right" is awesome! the problem is that it is rarely "done right".

  • I know I used to do shotokan, it's the only style close to me but the sensai have to follow rules and regs in britain and I see my sensais face when he can't show us the proper use for a technique, he realy wants to show us right!!
