when playing with my dog its the only moment i dont give her order.....shes playing...as long as she go get and gives the toy back its all good...its fun time
@tehkittehcat My dog loves playing like yours but I always make sure I am in control. I want to be the fun provider. This approach will make your dog have even more fun and working mentally also will tire him more than just running. I use a tug toy and it works just great as a reward.He must let go on command, that is very important. Ultimately, what you do and how you do it is your own choice but controlled play is a great way of making your dog more obedient and sure of himself.
@IamAndrewDucker You can have him do whatever you want, if you really want it. The kennel idea is good. I showed mine to sit and wait with a leash. A few repetitions and that's it. Always make sure he cannot fail, whatever you do with him. For example, if you tell him stay and he goes after the ball you have lost and he won which will make it harder and harder as you repeat this.
Wait for his attention to be on you and not on the toy before you throw it. He will associate "you" with the fun.
