You did a great job. I think all of the locals should put their hands in their pockets and donate a few dollars to the RNLI, for your sterling effort in getting rid of a hazard to navigation and an eyesore.
Maybe you and your buddies could recover some more junk like the Titanic. Only a dumbass would try to recover a piece of equipment that has sat in salt water for 20 years!
looks like a late model ford but not too old... thts a shame really... how did that thing ever get stuck out there anyways??? did the tide just swallow it up for twenty years???
No-one wanted it. thats not why it was removed. It was a hazard. Although it did weigh in for scrap and earned a £146 donation for the the RNLI in the process
very good, love the skip trailer!, scrap was £180 a ton for a wile there, so im guessing thats why she was recovered, but saying that some wd-40 and she wud be good as new....... not lol
great job. very interesting. have been cockling myself for years. latterly at carsethorn. know the dangers as we were at morecambe the time the poor chinese drowned. (though that was down to gangmaster negligence) any way i've seen a few tractors being pulled out over the years, but not after twenty years. amazing. am from dumfries and cant recall seeing it when down the carse, tho can remember some of the boys talking about it years ago when at so'ness. you couldn't have had to cross channel ?
It was an old tractor that was used for collecting cockles and it got stuck out there 20 years ago. when we pulled it out the right front wheel was still inflated and the wheel bearing was spinning perfectly!
Buddrinkerste's not far wrong, we're going to weigh it in for scrap and give the money to the local lifeboat station. Have to get all the mussels off first - don't think the scrap man would be too happy if we took it in like that... It Stinks!! The main reason for moving it is due to it being a hazard to the boats. The guys that knew it was there quite liked it as it was a good marker but all it takes is someone unfamilier coming in and it could be nasty. Thanks for looking in
Yes would be a bit dogey. My local boat club (who i am a member) Has 2 david browns and 1 mf35. All have been under more than once. People think the sand is either like concret or tractors go anywhere. I have pulled loads of things out with the winch on my landy. The club saying is "If in doubt pace i out"
I think you have done a brillant job and could have saved a nasty accident. Briillant thanks for posting
