  • So what does it actually mean?

  • anyone else sickened by the fact that modern folk had the pure ignorance to build a village inside Avebury circle?

  • @solar7 There have been settlements inside the circle for nearly 3500 years. So, no.

  • thanks for posting this, I found it really interesting and informative.

  • Is one allowed to climb Silbury Hill?

  • Not anymore. It's riddled with holes from past excavations & very unsafe. If everyone was still allowed to walk all over it it would be eroded in no time. It's a sacred mother mound and place of the gods. I don't think you really were allowed up there unless you were a priest.

  • @Rick02115

    no, but everyone does.

  • Thanks I enjoyed that.

  • Interesting, but I really hope that Cope appreciates that this topic is very "Spinal Tappish". In fact, Niles (Chris Guest from Tap) actually has an almost identical obsession with primitive monuments and made a small mockumentary about it. I keep expecting David St Hubbins to jump out from behind a stone and begin playing Stone Henge or Big Bottoms.

  • @ritter89

when you said that in your head did it make sense?

  • Peace and love to all!

    Thanks for the videos!

    Great love!

    K

  • Is there the second episode available?

  • This has been an amazing series, thank you for showing it. Julian, you rock.

    (Get it, rock? LOL!)

  • Splendid!

  • i live in california and i have never seen any footage that shows so much of the beautiful landscape out there. thanks for turning us on julian to something other than krautrock or japrock, will be keeping a close eye on head heritage.

  • I've been to Avebury, Stonehenge and Callanish. Need to tick off the rest before I go upwards at 45 degrees.

  • very well done

  • a great series on a subject more pertinent than ever in this debased, materialist landscape we now call "home." there's a lot to be learned from the ancients, west and east. thanks julian cope!

  • I know it's been said already, but I have to repeat it: Thank you so much for posting this!

  • Julian Cope's fabulously offbeat conjecture takes us for a spin 'round much of unseeen britain, a veiw as to what could have been...

perhaps in some bygone era of trancendence like a permanant ego trip with no comedown

  • saxondalerocks are you jools in disguise pluggin your stuff. if not thanks S you are a star well good viewing thanks for down loading.

  • Saxondale(surely)rocks! Thank you so much for posting this. The Modern Antiquarian has been my travelling bible for some years now...thank you your Drudship for all your valiant efforts!

  • The world would be a much duller place without people like JC...

This film was awesome, but far far too short!

  • thanx for posting

  • Yikes! It says this video is not available anymore. Can you post again? PLEASE! All the others are fab.

  • brilliant, thanks very much for posting.

  • Thanks SDR I enjoyed that a lot. As for his jacket I could see in part 3 it says ..am packe.. so maybe jam-packed or oxfam packet. Or maybe not.

  • I don't think a soundtrack was released but the sound clips heard in this part are from Cope's 'Rite' series which are a series of instrumental works.

  • thanks! that's the info i was after. thanks also to saxondalerocks for uploading the modern antiquarian.

  • fascinating stuff. any idea whether julian's soundtrack for this is released on an album?

  • Sorry, No idea.
