btw... the actual cp30 has a caselid that comes apart for supports. my 'cp70' has screw in legs that can be stored in a pouch attached to the underside of the UNdetachable lid. go figure? aaaany help would be greatly appreciated.
PLEASE HELP - I purchased a pristine yamaha keyboard last summer (one I thought was referred to as the cp-70, as that's what the model number would indicate next to it's... female holes...), but everytime I search anything on the cp-70, I barely get anything that looks remotely similar to this. Basically, mine would appear to be a cp-30, but is branded as a cp-70. Explaination??
I wonder how old this electronic piano is? I have only seen one of these in a music store for sale as used. You play wonderfully, is there any way you could play this song on a Newer Yamaha digital piano?
CP-30s are great pianos! (I own two.) People dis 'em all the time, but they're fun to play, and you can tease some interesting & unique sounds from them. Weighted, velocity-sensitive keys; 2 sound banks, both detunable, that split to stereo outs, etc. (Awesome thru phaser!)
Most people still want anything called an "electric piano" to sound exactly like a piano or a rhodes/wurlitzer--so RMIs and CP30s are needlessly hated upon. What a collective lack of imagination!
@chocolatebuttermilk I can't really get into the sound of the CP30 myself, although I definitely don't think it's bad. The RMI Electra-Piano on the other hand, that's a different story altogether. That keyboard's one bad mother fucker.
I've got a CP30 that I rarely play. It does not do strings -- it has three "piano" sounds and a "harpsichord" sound. You can mix any or all of these sounds together, change pitch, add tremolo, add or reduce sustain, and get a stereo effect. The action is pretty terrible (it takes me 15 minutes to get used to playing the keys on the CP30 after playing a Rhodes, acoustic, or newer digital piano) and the volume swells if you repeat notes while holding the sustain pedal. Very unique instrument.
