  • Thanks a million, man! Great, clear instructions. A+++

  • THANK YOU!

  • Finally!! Thanks man :)

  • audio doesn't go through the stereo mix, even though it is enabled.

  • For some reason, I have everything enabled, but when I have my headset on, it won't record any sound from the computer. I have a Logitech Premium USB Headset 350. How would I work around this?

  • I've successfully got the stereo mix to work so that my computer records what it's playing, thanks! However now my problem is that it won't record from the microphone at the same time - I want it to record my voice (going into the mic) at the same time as it's recording what's on stereo mix. How do I do this?

  • Wish i had seen this about 2 hours ago :)

    Thanks a lot!

  • Way to go dude! This helps a lot!

  • OMG Thank You So Much !! :D :PPPP

  • Thanks so much, been looking for a solution to this for WAY too long tonight, wish I found this earlier! Would never have occurred to me to right click and select "Show Disabled Devices" in the Realtek control panel.

  • THANXSSS SOOOOO MUCH!!!

  • FYI:

I have just found out that the Sony Vaio has disabled the whole possibility of using this program.Guess it is due to copyright. Still mean of them I think.

  • thx soooo much

  • Omg I need the stupid IDT HD audio codec for win 7 64 bit for my intel D945GTP mother board but I can't find can you help some how

    Thanks

  • Is there a way to separate the stereo more? My stereo recordings seem more mono than they used to be. I want to know if there's a way to pull the recording more left and right.

  • You my friend are a legend :)

  • I have a Sony Vaio model VPCCB290X C series. I downloaded Audacity 1.3 Beta Unicode. I use Windows 7 Home and Student 64 bit. I have tried everything in this video and it didn't work. I also downloaded an update for my sound card from Sony. I have tried everything and there is still no stereo mix. Somebody please help me!

  • @pb19111 I have the same problem with my Vaio and I can't seem to fix it :(

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks alot!! : D

  • I have CD Audio not Stereo Mix

  • HAha! Actually you should write on notepad because for those alrdy have the stereo problem cannot hear

  • @DarkArmy619 I might have to throw in some closed captioning (words onscreen) for those who cant hear the video, sorry man, ill put in an update

  • There is no stereo mix in disabled and enabled!

  • @Guitarpro2play you probably let windows install your drivers so you're going have to go find your audio drivers for your sound card, if it's onboard just search your mobo audio drivers and install it

  • You. Are. A BOSS! Thank you so much!

  • i just dont understand how hes talking about audacity 1.2.6 on windows 7 if its not even compatible on the site ...a windows 7 system has to use the beta version ...smh this sux upgrading was a loss for me man

  • Worked for me in Audacity 1.3 beta.

  • Thanks a lot! Maxi useful!

  • Thanks it worked fine with 1.3.13-beta on windows 7. If you get an echo when recording, uncheck Software Playthrough ( Edit > Preferences > Recording ). Makes one wonder why the Realtec stereo mix feature would be hidden by default after a windows installation?

  • @Rubestful it might have interfered with some things in windows, different setups have different input features. might have been their "One size fits all" type of resolution.

  • YES!!! Thank you SO much.

  • THANK YOUUUUU!!!!!!!

  • Thanks brother. It even works (if you have the most basic of knowledge) for Windows 7 64 bit. I couldnt figure it out, but thanks to your trick here I got it working. Thumbs up.

  • thank-you, it fixed it for me :D

  • Your a fucking champ!! Fuck the beta, 1.2.6 works fine with my brand new computer with windows 7!!

  • Thanks man!

  • Even if I show disabled devices, it STILL doesn't show the stereo mix. :/

  • Worked for me, thanks a lot :D

  • FUCK MY AUDACITY!

I DID WHAT EVER YOU SAID AND IT STILL WONT FUYCKING RECORD, I JUST USED IT YESTERDAY, AND I DIDNT EVEN TOUCH IT, BUT NOW, IT WONT FUCKING DO SHIT!

  • @NightRyderFilms same, fucking beta

  • thanks for getting stereo mix up but when i do all the other shit like go on audacity it still wont record of youtube ?

  • thx dude

  • DISCLAIMER: The information explained in the video doesnt solve this problem with every computer out there. Certain systems are a little different than others. I found this method most useful, but it covers about 70 percent of PCs out there having this issue. Also, explaining how to find drivers for your sound card would be difficult, since almost every soundcard out there works a little different than others. My suggestion is run a Windows Update and it should update your Card drivers.

  • Thank you!! You made my day!

  • what the fucking shit 1:00. How come I don't have stereo mix anywhere to be found, and I have windows 7, same as you. Im going to blow off my head.

  • THUMBS UP THIS COMMENT SO PEOPLE CAN SEE IT.

If you want to fix it just simply install the Realtek drivers (thats for if you don't get stereo mix.)

  • dude this still isnt helping

  • FUCK THIS!!!

  • Why is my headphone playback not synchronized with my voice?

  • Thanks so much for this video! I couldn't figure out what the heck the issue was and now it works just fine :)

  • Thanks that worked fine. Your the man

  • I may be the only one with this issue but Stereo Mix likes to add treble to whatever I record so some of the bass disappears and it sounds somewhat like I recorded it with a mic against a speaker. My Question is for a Windows Vista user with a Hewlett-Packard Company 82801IB/IR/IH (ICH9 Family) sound chip with an IDT codec (if the sound chip plays a role in it,) what are the best audio settings so that I may avoid having to use Audacity to correct it to the best of my abilities?

  • @giguyjoe2nd Forget it. I found the problem. Just had to return the Frequency to it's default lowest setting and disable all Enhancements.

  • i am download the new version but no stereo mix?

  • im using windows xp and i can't find the "show disabled devices" anywhere. can somebody help me please?

  • Thank you very much

  • Tyvm. This worked great. You're a life saver! :) Liked!

  • Dang still not working for me

  • Where can you find the Stereo mix if you click show disabled and it doesn't show up? It doesn't show up in the "search" box on the computer either I had to send my laptop in to take out a virus and had windows 7 put in and now audacity won't record anything o.o.

  • Question: I followed this tutorial and no mixer or waveout showed up. Can you please assist?

  • Great video! Thanks for the tip. Fixed the problem I was having.

  • Thanks alot :)

  • @JDTVEXTREMEVIDEOS i went to my control panel, clicked the right thing, but even when i told it to show disabled devices, stereo mix didn't show up. can you help me please?

  • Thanks for the video tutorial, just got a new computer with Windows 7 and couldn't record using Audacity... it was doing my head in.

    Thanks again

  • Thanks for the video tutorial, just got a new computer with Windows 7 and couldnt record using Audacity... it was doing my head in.

    Thanks again

  • thanks as hell man!

  • When I select "Show disabled devices" in Sound, it only comes up with CD Audio, which doesn't work either.

  • hey man i hav a question. i have folllowed the instructions but when i hit the record button an error box pops up and says "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate." i need help please!!

  • I HAVE NO STEREO MIX!! >_<

I can't find a fix anywhere, it simply doesn't show up even with 'show disabled/disconnected devices' checked. I keep seeing this supposed fix everywhere but I have no stereo mix. All I have is microphone, line in, and some weird "Digital Audio (S/PDIF)"! Agghhhhhh

  • OMG MY STEREO MIX IS THERE, BUT IT AIN'T DOIN ANYTHING! ARRGGG :@ THERE IS ONLY NEWBIE TUTORIALS OUT! OMFG,I HAVE DELL WIN7 AND HAVE THE STEREO MIX THERE, BUT IT DOESN'T RECORD A LI'L SHIT! WTF!?!? OMG I AM PISSED..

  • HELP! i upgraded my xp machine to 7 and i no longer have stereo mix!

  • This video is based on the 1.2.6 version. the newer 1.3.12 version doesnt seem to do much for me. I like it simple, so I stuck with 1.2.6 and it does work with Windows 7 and Vista

  • um yea i got to about the sound window at recording and hit show disabled devies and i have nothing but my laptop mic..... help would be very nice

  • THANKS man that helped HEAPS !!

  • How would I do this on Windows XP?

  • Hey which audacity version is that? cause when i went to edit>prefence i dont have the options like you do... I got the beta version (the recommanded version for windsows 7 apparently)

  • @asianmeastro Mine is the 1.2.6 version. the newer one 1.3.12 is a little different than the one used in the video as far as menu style goes.

  • @JDTVEXTREMEVIDEOS Awesome one more question man sorry, how would you update the sound driver? XD

  • DUDE, YOU = KING

  • I went to Recording tab and I only see microphone even tho I already checked the 'show disabled devices'

    Help?

  • thanks bhroter

  • i love u!!! Thx A LOT!

  • ok I did everything you said and I have stereo mix enabled but when I record with audacity it dosent pick up any audio while recording

  • At 0:52 i clicked recording, right clicked, clicked show disabled divices and sterio mix wasn't there!? can someone help ASAP?

  • @YoungProdigy928 ok, what your gonna do, is go into your Edit/Preferences, then in the Audio I/O tab, at the bottom of the box, you will see a check box that says "Play Other Tracks While Recording New One", check that, and hit OK, now when you record (assuming that you have a track recorded already) that will begin to play, and a new track will record in a mix with the track being played back

  • @YoungProdigy928 In the Audacity program, after you record something, those blue bars that represent the sound, Highlight any section you want, then go up to the Effects tab on top, and select you effect, then you will be prompted with a window to adjust that effect. if you over-adjust, the Undo button is your friend.

  • @knobrot1980 cool, thanks. might stick a respond video up so the video fits the screen correctly. my new ones gonna be in either 720p or 1080p. i do what i can to help out with new stuff. new technology can be a pain.

  • Thanks for this, it solved the problem instantly.

  • THANK YOU!! damn i couldn't figure out what was going on now it's fixed i also had another error for people getting this MESSAGE: "Error while opening sound device. Please check the output settings and project sample rate"

    Go to:

    EDIT>> Preferences

On "Audio I/O" tab select Channels then select "2 (stereo)"

    and FIXED :D

  • record with 16:9? lol

  • omg, you saved me, I had no idea what to do, thanx

  • I have a really big question:

When I do every single step you do, it still doesnt work. I try and try and try, and it wont record onto Audacity. Ive triple checked, made sure volume was up, and checked my drivers. Up to date, volume was all the way, and Audacity is completely set up right. Any ideas?

  • @KaosandPurdue ill do some checking to figure out the situation u got and ill get back to u. i do know that there are some cards out there that can be "stubborn" and not let audacity use it. dont worry though, ill try my best

  • Thnx : )

  • Can someone help me. I have SoundMAX and my mic wont work. It does but its really quite. I Blow in it and you can hear it. What do i do i need my mic badly :( Or can i download a diffrent program?

  • Cool Winamp theme. What is it?

  • thanx man so much had this problem forever

  • I enabled stereo mix and i did everything in the vid and it still doesn't record even when i turn the volume ALL THE WAY UP

  • @Pokechao did you turn the volume to your recording tab up too? if nothings working for u, try updating your card drivers, that seems to help in most situations. if that doesnt work, ill check into other possibilities to help u out.

  • @Pokechao also, did you set audacity to stereo mix too? always good to double check those things.

  • Donesnt work

  • thanx man!

  • ha, i fixed it. i had my speakers in my monitor/tv. i needed them plugged into my computer for it to work.

  • i've done everything that these videos show me, but it wont pick up any sounds. i have Audacity 1.3.11-beta on windows 7. please help

  • when i click show disabled devices, stereo mix doesnt show up. can u help me please?

  • @culuspeedy your sound card may not be capable of recording directly out of it. I know that most aftermarket sound cards have this option. might have to find a cheap one that you can use to make this available. I too have experienced difficulties with this issue. Im still checking into a solution for u

  • @JDTVEXTREMEVIDEOS actually, i fixed it. i just needed to install realtek. thanx though

  • @culuspeedy ok, sounds good, if u got any questions in the future, ill do my best to help out

  • @culuspeedy I couldnt do it, even downloading realtek, even after having stereo in audacity. Can I use an external soundcard? Does it have to be for w7?

  • Thank you soooo much you are my freaking hero.
