Great music from an equally great movie Papillon, starring Steve McQueen and Dustin Hoffman. Saw the movie in college, it was re-issued in theatres. The music was vividly retained in my mind and I used to whistle the tune. Was Paul Mauriat the composer?

The composer was Jerry Goldsmith.

Nowadays, Mauriat remains popular only in Japan and South America. His music, particularly from the early years, is pretty hard to find...
