coke or ciggs or weed or drink...all bad things for the respiration system....how can u sing like that and play a wind instrument? Well he did to my amazement, the guy is a freak (in a very good way, I love his work).
A fairytale figure that's just what he is, magic! Ian Anderson... And he's smart, too. A good business man. Not so many musicians did the right thing with their money in those days.
love his choice of axes too - that deep full rich gibson sound - sometimes fender basses are too twangy, but the Gibson humbucker delivers a sweet voice at the bottom end - when someone who knows what they're doing is playing, sometimes one doesn't even care about the rest of the band :)
@SupernalOne OK Gibson is a good Guitar I have one BUT I also have a Fender because you cant get every sound you want from one Guitar; If you know what strings you want to use and you ajust the guitar for fast action and a smooth sound there is noTwangy on either guitar people who dont know how to ajust there gibson get a crapy rough out of tune sound...
In those times, lipsync was the norm, especially for tv shows. It's cheap and you'll always have a 'proper' sound. Doesn't seem to me the band is all that serious about it too ;)
damn i love this band...i had this video too... i went to see them 2 years ago... ian anderson its more fat and bald... but he is the fuckin master playing...
you could upload my sunday feeling, that's a great song
Some of my fav Tull is the out take stuff like this song, Dr Bogenbhram, Nursie, Up The Pool, etc, from Living in the past. Listen to the incredible orchestral work by Dave/Dee Palmer. Most excellent work, year after year!
@DBD2754 mhm not really. No offense but a lot of the people who used drugs in the 60s and 70s are alive. (Musicians)
Actually, most of them are. You can put the proof of their health in their wealth and good fortune to pay for top dollar doctors and alternative health gurus, medicines, good mental health through creativity, etc.
shit, every fuckin band of progressive do that... or done that jajaja.. that kind of drugs were part of the culture of that time... they just want to find "magic" and feel it ajajjaa.... jethro tull is awesome, i don't care a shit about drugs or not, cause every band use them, and some still do
Ian sure can put on a show!1st show was early 70s in LA & LONG BEACH.yrs later in DAVIS of all places.always a treat too see them! love his lyrics !!!!FLUTE STILL MAKES ME WEAK!GREAT SOUND
This is great. Ian is so over this kind of thing, you can tell it's paining him to bother with it. Glenn seemed to be kind of full of himself like he was the badass of the band, or at least the truly 'street fashionable,' but he's a great player! Poor Martin, delegated to the acoustic guitar...
Yea, Glenn Cornick was kinda a bitch to everyone and was always partying and smoking pot and shooting up on meth so ian dropped his ass since Jethro Tull was probably one of the only great bands in the late 60s and 70s to condemn drugs.
yipes i wouldn't say all that without proof, buddy; i don't care if ian uses drugs or not but i've heard the famous rumor about a nyc cabbie not understanding how tull could be so rich and have to share one cigarette...
they was a British band, Until Ian up-sticks and went to the U.S But i can imagine that they would be in more comfortable surroundings in a country pub with a dark foaming pint,

Whilst I love the great IA, I am disapointed that this was obviously lip synced. watch the flute kick in before it reaches his lips

Notice how Ian forgot to play the flute when the flute part first started.
