I remember : We starting promote Kid Creole march 1981 in our Discos (Zorba the Buddha cologne) the result : he got a rocket.......boom.....great time...best thank,s for uploading and sharing the video with us....Pete
This man should have played the phenomenal, legendary Cab Calloway! They had discussions to play him before his passing. I don't know if it's too late. He is soo much like him performance and showmanship, and of course, talent!
It makes me sad to think that this band will never be like this again and there is so little high quality footage of them from this period. With the way things are going now, there will never be another real band like this one playing real music like this again.
I took my Dad to see them in the early 80`s,it was without Doubt one of the best night`s I ever spent,They were Brilliant,Such Fun,Cool music,Thanks for posting this.
talent and hard work, the Kid is still kicking! I saw them in La Spezia (Italy) at a concert organized by the Italian Navy (go figure! LOL) around '81 I believe with my (now ex) wife (I was 19 or 20 tops).
Wondering about Adriana , so sad to don't see them together anymore. I believe that she sings in NYC (Im gonna check her out right after this post)
Congrats August! The new generation can now appreciate your good music and a great talent.
That's Coati Mundi, aka. Andy Hernandez who also parries with August Darnell as they go through their Black Books. Check out his hit, 'Me No Pop I' also from the early 80s. They really provided a different slant on New York's burgeoning alternative dance music scene at the time. It was all about personality
This is a video of two of the most talented men ever to live...Sorry the great Cory Daye was not there with them! But Cheryl Poirier is doing a very good job...
I remember taping another version of this.... on BETAMAX... also with Cheryl in men's clothing and singing that lovely "Won-der-ful" during the choruses. Only that time she got more camera time... possibly a performance in Holland?
Anyway, thanks for this. I lost that tape many years ago. This is a wonderful thing.
@queenastilon Yes, that performance was on YouTube for a while but seems to have disappeared. You're right - you could also see Cheryl's face a lot better.
One of the best bands ever,...I've seen them all over the world! Sweet songs, Beautiful Coconuts, classy production, and the incomparable Coatimundi!!
love the song, the performance, the brass, no brag, just fact

Hey - jeg så dem i Ååååååårhus engang i 80'erne - det er det bedste live band jeg nogensinde har set! En nostalgisk tåre triller ned ad min kind.
Also thanks for posting from me!
